I think what happened was a mixture between the lifespans being too short and NRAAS Story Progression not being able to do anything because of that. I think my current save file is about 25 weeks on a relatively long lifespan-my sims live for about 160 sim days-and most of the original families still exist. Though all of the original Sunset Valley townies already died, descendants of the families continued their legacies.
I have almost the same lifespan but same problem with story progression. I have a couple of additional modules that expand the will in the relationship and something else that I forgot, but I needed a function to rename the surnames of new couples and the names of newborn children so that names fit the vibe or ethnicity of the family.
But they break up so often! and they may not even give birth to a one child. And some other couples start breeding like rabbits, then they become too close relatives to each other. And the families of the first variant of scenario die out in the second generation. I could forbid divorce, but sometimes they are also useful for my active family. Sometimes i have to intervene often to procreate, "fertilizing" through Nraas MC menu.
edit: In Sunset Valley, Erin Kennedy consistently, almost every new save, does not have children, even with love interests. Even if newborns are allowed to be transferred to the father's family
@@Tevi_L7151 LOL we have similar issues with our games. Not counting the crashes-despite me doing my best to lengthen the life of my save file-couples getting together and then breaking up in a matter of days is something I'm somewhat bothered by; don't even mention all the infidelity LOL. It's just annoying to have split families all over town and having to micro manage and make sure everything is up to speed. Though, I think that the modules for Story Progression have some big role in the townies breaking up such as the Lovers and Relationships modules, but I'm enjoy the drama too much to take them out LOL. I think more tweaking with the settings is needed on my part-a worthwhile hassle.
For the baby naming, there's a setting where you could get a popup to rename newborn babies. I forgot where it is but it's easy to look up. In terms of reproducing, I actually have the opposite problem, even when I set Story Progression to be snail-paced. I manually tweak the maximum and minimum amount of kids depending on the traits because I had a massive baby boom the first few weeks, and I was scared that they weren't all gonna fit LOL. I think Hank Goddard had like six kids with three different women. The Bunches and the Langeraks also had more kids. I was definitely panicking LOL.
Lastly, I find it interesting that Erin Kennedy does not have children. She'd have a child or so in my saves. In my current one, she had one with Iqbal Alvi. One thing I'm worrying about is I'm starting to have a housing problem. Some sims might have to stay in their main home with their siblings until a house becomes vacant LOL.
@@gabmarc_e Thanks for the advice, although I have already figured out how to set up the names and surnames of newborns and new families. I can't delete one module either because of dramas in town 😂. For me, the problem is that I play in a non-English localization, the mod menu is adapted for that language, but there is still no normal tutorial and some functions are not translated correctly.
Regarding Erin, she adopted animals all the time until I disabled it, but again I forgot how to disable 😂. Basically I wish they had sometimes that old pre-patch base game feature where they could have a child that was a genetic copy of them
@@Tevi_L7151 Ohhh! Yeah, it would makes sense that there would be fewer or no tutorials on non-English localizations of NRAAS. Those mistranslations must be annoying though.

And YES, the pets in my game have also gone wild. I had to take drastic measures and euthanize some of them. My townies were adopting pets like crazy, and they even have their own family trees LOL. I think the biggest so far would be like 5 generations of dogs and cats.
@@gabmarc_e omg, if I had that, my game wouldn't start for sure, at least they'd die without offspring. But often if the old sim lived to the end of his life, the game or mod gave their pets to younger families. But then this old sim adopted another dog/cat again!
It would be cool to check the mausoleum and see how many graves ended up in there 👀

Here’s a new idea, see if Elliot and Latricia can survive to old age with free will only. See if the two of them can survive to their natural deaths if you don’t control them at all. The only exceptions will be that you will have to pay the bills for them unless you cheat yo get them the “no bills ever” lifetime reward

You know what? Nostalgia hit me! I saw this build which resembles a starter home and I'm like... yes the Shit 4 has an amazing building system and graphics but with the Sims 3 you could live in a 1x1 room and still have fun.

It seemed like NRaas SP was not even working, as your outcome seemed more in line with what happens with EA's SP.
I remember trying a reverse 100 baby challenge (I had a ghost sim), impregnating the town. But I did not have mods back then, and because I found it difficult for him to continuously interact with all his children constantly, EA's SP would move the mothers and kids out of Sunset Valley, along with many main families. I did not have any other packs then (except the basegame), but I did get NRaas mods, along with SP, and tweaked the settings, no more move outs.
I have not played with relativity too much, and I prefer longer lifespans, but you could be right that SP could not keep up. Also, if you make sure every house has a crib, and set the chances of having babies highest, perhaps that might help? 🤷♀️
Interesting concept, might have to try this. I wonder how the future would be, before and after? If the test subject met a bunch of sims first, would she mourn anyone's death? I have not played TS3 in a bit, I forget if it only lets you know about family members nearing death, or friends too? 🤷♀️

It would be so cool to have a sim part of another generation and put them in stasis and then like 5 generation after have them help the family out when their out of stasis.
You've just given me an idea! I'm gonna try this, shorten the lifespans, maybe not as short as 2 days, but close, and set the Story Progression speed to the fastest. When I play in other towns, sims' kids (friends or neighbours), when there teens, start dating etc, so I'd imagine, they will end up with kids and all that.. I wonder if that would leave a lot of descendants from the original Sunset Valley sims? I'm way too involved. lol

So I’m on like week 24 in my legacy and a lot of the names are still there! The Wan family (random because it was just Pauline?) and the Altos probably reproduced the most and there is only one Landgraab descendent left and he can’t stay in a relationship with nobody 😂

I think you should've experimented with nraas SP settings a bit more - it almost didn't do anything? Like made sure to set it in a way non active sims get relationships and babies
I have customized settings that I imported into the mod, it’s to ensure that sims move around, get married, and things like that, but I’m still confused as to how those two sims were still alive when everyone else was gone. 😭😭

you made the lifespan to short for story progression to do anything, if the pregnancy for sims takes three days story progression wont trigger the pregnancy script because of the time limit for sims to age up, so like if the life span is set to 2 days they wont pregnant due to the pregnancy taking three days.
