Most store bought sushi have plain rice or salted rice so it hits harder imo. Most japanese sushi places have sweeter umami rice
It's cool to see Andy show how cultured he actually is, seeing this side of him. It shows people that under the absurdist comedy bits and characters that he is actually a pretty chill, respectful and intelligent guy. It's good to see him put out this version of him self for us to view and experience.

Sheeit even the chef is smiling and saying "very true". Clicked this because I watched Andy Milonakis show back in the day. Glad to see he still has dat babeh face and very impressed by his sushi knowledge. (He's 41 now for those who don't know, he has a growth hormone deficiency)
He talks about people not eating "real sushi" and then immediately contrasts about raw fish.......... Ok so SUSHI is simply rice preserved by vinegar (usually included with salt, sake, sugar and treated with kombu)..... raw fish is called shishimi. A lot of people enjoy eating their Sushi with Shishimi. I could tell the Wasabi there was the usual fake stuff.

That's just the japanese mentality. Even when you study Japanese, you'll learn to always say "No, I'm still not good yet" when Japanese people praise your Japanese skills.
A michelin star itamae (sushi chef in Japan) told me the best way to eat sushi is to eat it the way you want to, and enjoy it the way you want to.
That's what I think with everything, eat it how you want, if the steak was so good that it didn't need any steak sauce or whatever, it's up to the person. If it taste like the best steak I've ever had, I'd still want it with a little a-1, lemon, and tobasco mixed, and that for me, would make it taste even better! All personal preference regardless of cuisine protocol.
+Michael Rocha I get that, I really do, but I find that with sushi because of the wasabi soy sauce bath that they give their sushi makes it impossible to taste what they're actually eating. But honestly I think this works in most Sushi spots' favor as most of their fish is really bad. but I don't generally tell people how to eat their sushi, in fact it's usually the other way around, people CONSTANTLY tell me that you GOTTA put wasabi and soy sauce on your sushi, but I actually like to enjoy the flavors of what I order
There's a difference in opinion everywhere, however, when you're talking about someone that's a chef that wants you to enjoy the food they wanted you to enjoy it, then you can't argue against the chef because it's his art and he wants to depict it the way he wants people to perceive it.. whether it's good or bad. That's the ideal behind someone being "strict" with how one eats their food. On the other hand, if you want to go against the rules and eat any sushi with your toes on the table and dipping it in ranch.... then there's no one really stopping you from doing so. It's just not going to be the same as experiencing what you paid for in the hands of an artist. Just like how you can easily paint your own pictures to hang on your walls. It wouldn't be the same as a Picasso piece because there's more to it than just shitting on a canvas and hoping something sticks.

This is true to some extent. I do think everyone should make an honest effort at trying to eat things the "right" or "proper" way, if only to have a basis of comparison with how they currently eat their food.
But if you find out, after eating sushi the correct way, that what you really love is banana in your temakis? Then go nuts!

Good video... I'm happy more people are learning the correct way to eat sushi and appreciate Andy knowing and explaining that, and glad to see Sean eating some good sushi and getting the education.
I'm so sick of hearing about the "correct" way to eat sushi. Ask a REAL sushi chef and they will tell you there is no "proper" way. They will tell you what is blatantly obvious: people should eat food the way THEY LIKE. I don't know any sushi chef, or ANY chef for that matter, that would claim its better to eat food in the "proper" way, even if you don't like it, rather than just eat it the way you like it.
I dare you to find even ONE chef in the entire world who would agree with that statement. The claim is absolutely silly to the point of being childish.

You're comment is completely wrong. Just as Ken Namba said to eat the red snapper with no soy sauce, there are definitely ways of fucking up how the sushi is meant to be eaten. If u put the rice in the rice in the soy sauce you're doing it wrong. If you put ginger on the sushi you're doing it wrong. This is known in japan from chef to customer. You don't know real chefs because they would tell you to go fuck yourself and that they know better, which they usually do. How many times have you heard Gordon Ramsay or any other chef say that their food they prepare is up to the customer to "eat as they like".

"Sushi" is one of my favorite dishes, because of the dynamics of each piece and the presentation even on a sashimi rice and fish. The beauty of the fish and the marbling displayed, there is something zen about it.

Very refreshing to watch someone who actually knows what he's talking about review sushi - as opposed to some greenhorn basic bitch (chosen for her good physical looks) that barely knows what real sushi is, let alone has a refined palate for it, just for her to call everything "buttery" and "creamy" at the currently trendy NYC sushi spot of the week.
