I don't understand why so many people are mean towards Mariah Carey.. I really don't.. Yes, it is true that her popularity is not as "up there" compared to when she first started.. But so are all the other legends (in their own rights) like Madonna, Belinda Carlisle, Janet Jackson, Celine Dion, Barbra Streisand, Shania Twain, or even the late Whitney Houston herself.. But that doesn't mean they should be written off from the industry.. I mean these are the people who had shaped and lead the way in the industry..

this is my life theme song. I was crying during the 2nd part until the end of the song. A lot of people tried so hard to put me down when I was younger. They thought I won't make it. I was bullied, hurt, traumatized, abused and a lot of pain, physically and mentally. People always treated me like trash because I grew up in a very poor family. And now that I'm grown, I'm so glad that the Lord didn't give up on me. He didn't let those people ruin my life. I'm proving them wrong but revenge is never my plan.
Life lesson is never give up. Sometimes, the Lord will put you in a very tough situation.He will let you experience the lowest and the most hurtful things in life to make you stronger. I owe everything to God!

This maybe 100% live or lipped only on the part " that shines"..Very very difficult song to sing, the range is super low and very high and the runs is super precise and fast. Mariah really did a great job here and her voice is in superb condition!!😍

Is not vocal damage, it's called vocal strain because of her long years of touring and difficult repertoire so for periods of time her nodules swell up so it's harder for her, that's also a reason why she gains weight faster than usual, because she has to use a lot of corticosteroids to decrease the swelling in order to perform easily. At this period of time all she was developing was a raspiness but not mid belting damage yet
Her voice here is not in good shape but ppl can’t tell because of her superb technique and her ability to just naturally play with the notes coupled with her melismatic tone.
@@mijalakis3 it was raspy not strained, strained is something else , but she accepted that rasp and used it good in many songs in fact she has that rasp since but 1998 it was becoming too raspy but she managed with good technique

I need the dub doctors to diagnose this performance. She sounds really good here but it is almost believable that most of it could be live. As endearing as this song is most of the performances of this song occur during an era where her voice sounds really worn out. Im one of the few ppl who have never really gotten the " Rainbow tone" . I love her soulful Butterfly tone and think the Glitter era is her best sounding(tho Daydream and earlier eras have greater agility and range) Rainbow apart from a few select performances really just sound like she was just overworked.
