This video is a walk up to stac Pollaidh and the walk start is from the Stac Pollaidh car park to the summit of Stac Pollaidh and then following the path all around Stac Pollaidh back to the car park it can be climbed or walked in 4 hours.
Scotland's mountain's are fantastic
And Stac Pollaidh gives views of all assynt and on a nice day you can see for miles
Stac Pollaidh is a difficult walk and can be quite strenuous unless you have a certain amount of fitness.
The path up to stac Pollaidh from the car park is straight forward enough and the summit can be reached in under v2 hours.

Stack Pollaidh is a fantastic mountain but can be very dangerous and difficult to climb in winter conditions.Start the stack Pollaidh walk from the bottom road car park. Stack is approximately 8 miles from ullapool. How far or long is the stac Pollaidh walk? The stac Pollaidh walk is approximately 2 miles to the summit and the circular
Walk is roughly 4 miles.
The stac Pollaidh walk starts at the car park approximately 3 miles on the summer isles,Achiltibuie road
Off the A835 North of Ullapool
The true summit of Stac Pollaidh is at the western end and is more difficult to reach, and out of bounds for normal walkers. There are a succession of rocky towers requiring climbing or scrambling skills to ascend.Stac Pollaidh as some very tricky sections and the terrain can be difficult.The paths climbs steeply at the start of the walk and the path meanders to the north side of stac Pollaidh before ascending the gully. Pollaidh are panoramic with assynt to the north and Suilven,Cul Beag,
Cul mhor,Ben Mor Coigach (Ben More Coigach)(Beinn Mhor na Coigich) and Beinn an Eoin,Sgurr an Fhidhleir Three coigich mountain's which are of Graham status.
Please remember to wear correct footwear while walking stack Pollaidh as one slip could be fatal.
Stac Pollaidh car park is free of charge but is quite small with about 20 spaces to park.Stac Pollaidh as some very slippery rocks and gullys
To navigate round.You will see aerial views of Stac Pollaidh from the summit and drone footage is shown to get a google earth view of Stac Pollaidh.wild camping on Stac Pollaidh summit is fantastic in good weather. Im from Canada. My father in law and climbed stac in 2000. It was somthing I never thought to do but was a great experience.
Loved this video!! Very beautiful and a little eerie when the clouds move in! I love how so many places still have their Gaelic names. Sionasgaig means Synagogue. Mor means Big and Beag means small. The people who laid the stones for the path showed such love for that area. What a unique adventure! Thank you for sharing it!
Having done over 170+ munros, the 5 classic ridge walks Cullin, An Teallach, Liathach, Aonach Eagach and the CMD, Stac Poollaidh is my fav mountain. Scrambling to your heart's content in a spectacular setting with wonderful views all around. Also you didn't reach the true summit. At 15.22 drone view. The true summit is on far left and to get to it you have to climb the rock tower at 15.46 next to you on your right. A grade 2/3 scramble ;-) Brill vids BTW
Thankyou I have to agree I didn't make the true summit this time.I made the true summit the time before and it was a little tricky and slippy traversing. I have done 150 munros so I have some catching up to do do on you 👍 I did liathach pinnacles late last year which i hope you enjoy at some point.. I climbed Stac Pollaidh in 1989 (I think) I don't recall the path taking you round the East side and up to the back the of ridge - I'm sure we did a full-on ascent to the bealach, close to the East summit, then progessed to the true summit at the West end. I remember some scrambles round on the North side of the ridge and only one pinnacle had to be climbed to reach the summit. It was a great day out and Hopefully I will do it again soon. Great video - brought back quite a few memories.

Hi Alan - had a wonderful NW Highlands adventure for 25 nights in a camp site in Altandhu passing this iconic mountain twice every day as I went about my holiday - then after 8 or 9 days I arrived early in the wee car park and set off on an incredible day on a simply stunning wee mountain - taking in all 4 summits and enjoying the scrambling on the way to the top 3 summits - Thank you so much for this video which inspired me to do Stac Pollaidh - A day that will live long in my memory - all the best Alan

Lovely video, showing what a great day you had. I only wish the commentary had pointed out the "true" summit involves a scramble (either up a polished slabby tower, or a chimney down a bit to the left of it)..probably not within most ramblers' reach as it is a bit scary and airy...and, as you say in the replies to comments, not recommended in the wet !
Another excellent video, Alan -- but at 2:58 you say "Great view over to Quinag", I think. But, Quinag is about twenty miles north of Stac Pollaidh, and this is looking south to Ben Mor Coigach, if I am not mistaken. Anyway, thanks once again for posting!

Wow. an epic opening sequence and I really welcomed the review of the way up before the actual climb. Your videos are all one brillianter than the next, pity on those that haven't discovered your channel. This mountain is not as handsome as Suilven from the valley, but close up it's really craggy and fierce. Also, like Canisp, the views are excellent (and some great drone work there too). Ta much again.
Thanks...👍 stac polliadh is very popular,a crumbling mountain and as it's own unique character.. As you will have seen, there are so many routes around the summit area. I think it could be quite dangerous in the mist & wet weather .. The true summit is technical climb to try and reach. I nearly lost my footing a couple of years earlier..😳

Brings back memories umpteen years ago my family ran up it, well me and my two kids did, my wife walked it. Trouble started at the carpark, midges, the worst I’ve ever experienced in all my years on the hills. I just kept shouting back at my wife keep climbing the higher you get the less there are; not really true they didn’t depart until we were almost at the top, my wife never got that far. First time I actually saw midges draw blood, when we got back to the car my wife took of her jacket and hood and the blood was everywhere. Felt kind of bad for her but I wanted to bag that hill; truth was it was a wasted hill in the end ( I did a lot of hill running then and my kids 8 and 9 were light and could run easily up the 2000 feet) we ran most of the way up it and didn’t hang about at the top for long and then raced back down. I would like to do it again but I have little cartilage in my knees now so that won’t be happening, could go up no problem but coming back down would be a little trying to say the least.

@@alangregoryadventuresthegr992 watch your knees it's the going down part that eventually takes its toll; there was no warning, I came down Curved Ridge on the Buachaille one day with no problem, next day I could hardly walk. Took over a month before I could walk a mile and my right knee was the worst, it never straightened again. You pays your money and takes your chances I suppose. Anyway we have people like you making videos, keep up the good work but listen to your knees.

Hiya... I climbed the east summit, the time before I did the western summit but very dangerous especially in the wet. 👍👍👍
@@alangregoryadventuresthegr992 The holds are good but the sandstone is a wee bit polished now. There is a gully on the south side which bypasses the wee tower and climbs back up beyond it. I had to advise my mate to take that way as everything was plastered in snow and ice.
