    As someone who is pregnant and uses a wheelchair, I'm very grateful for this type of reporting. I've had comments on my youtube channel (that I've removed) about the harm I'm doing my unborn baby because I'm pregnant and I use a wheelchair. It's important for all people to pursue happiness, obstacles and all :-)

      Getting There wish you all the best with the baby I'm sure your beautiful baby will be so happy you made the decision to have him or her and your child will know nothing or care nothing about your wheel chair because we are not born to be judgemental so don't let others bring you down with hateful comments. 😘

      I have a 19 year old that i raised by myself. I have spina bifida and use a wheelchair. I so wish i had a video camera back then to record how i did things with my son like pushing a stroller and bathing. If this is your first child and you have questions I have lots of experience and stories and tips! :-) Raising a baby from a wheelchair in my experience is not as difficult as you may think and kids are quick to adapt!

    I think if her brain works properly and able to feed her child and interact and play then she doing what a mother should do the nanny just extra hands to help with bathing and changing and play with the child so there is more love given to the child it's like the child has 2 parents

      Her being capable has nothing to do with having children. Celebrities have children, are fully capable of taking care of them, and have full time nannies that do everything. Yet they have 6... Well I guess you can when you don't have to take care of them.

Yes here and there I've had help, but nothing can replace my love for my son. I'm truly proud of this woman. God bless her and her child. God bless the people who work for her. Why should someone miss out on the greatest gifts in life just because they have a disability? It angers me the way people have the audacity to call her selfish! I have a muscle wasting disease which will leave me in a wheelchair in a few years but I still plan on raising a family! It's easy for people without a disability to judge and throw comments around but put yourself in our shoes, why should I grow up watching my friends have kids but not me?! As long as the child is well looked after that's all that matters.

    • @Zara-oq6uk

    • @mirunadinu8221
      @mirunadinu8221 7 років тому +15

      People aren't saying she is selfish because she can't physically take care of her baby, but because her disease is progressive and in a few years unfortunately she will die. Since her family and her ex-boyfriend don't seem to be helping her, who will be the one looking after the child?

    • @Kat-uw1pj

    all the comments calling her selfish for passing on the gene... she said that BOTH parents must pass on the gene in order for it to affect the child. assuming the father was able-bodied, her child should be fine.

    • @SakuraUploads
      @SakuraUploads 7 років тому +24

      ??? What are you saying? You can be able-bodied and still carry the gene that causes this disability. Do you know how this works, or..

    • @noway4517
      @noway4517 7 років тому +16

      But her child will carry the gene so it will be risky for her to get children.

    • @Rivracost3
      @Rivracost3 7 років тому +16

      Not at all. A simple blood test for her future husband/boyfriend will determine if she can have kids with him. At least she already knows to test for it. Some people have kids by accident and only realize later that their genes were not compatible.

    It feels really nice to see this because my mother has been in a wheelchair since I was born. She had MS and it affects her legs really bad so it's extreeeeeeeeeeeeemeley hard for her to walk. But in the beginning of my life she was very very sick until I got to 8th grade. Other people were taking care of me and my mother but as I got older she got better to where she could take of herself and move out. But she was still sick, so she would take care of herself while I was gone and when I came back I had to do things. My mom is pretty independent she does everything by herself now. It just really touches my heart to see another parent who is disabled w a child. Because living with a family like mine can feel pretty lonely and left out sometimes. I'm getting ready to go to college now and everybody is so surprised that I wanna go out of states and after I graduate not come back to care of my mom. I tell them that if she could have a child and take of me for 18 years then she doesn't need my help. And my mother agrees. And I hope that they have as much independence and freedom and I wish them the best journey 💖💖💖💖💖 wish I could hug them lol

      popcookie10 It makes me feel really good to know your mother was blessed with, what sounds like, an amazing child. I'm sure there were many times she felt guilty you had to help. I say this, because I have MS and am a mother of an amazing little lady. I stay as independent as possible, but on certain days I do need help. Good luck in college and make your momma proud!!! ☺️

    Her child is well taken care of, so I'm not sure what all the fuss is about. She is fed, bathed, sheltered, and has the international she needs to thrive. There are children in the world, who have two able-bodied parents that don't take care of their children as much as this women does. It may not be the conventional way, but there are children that have parents that can move their arms and legs, and don't take the time to get oof the couch and love their children

    It appears that she may have a slight speech impediment. Some of her words are slurred. Having said that it wasn't all that difficult to follow what she was saying.

    • @samikay9599
      @samikay9599 7 років тому +38

      Her words are slurred because the muscle dystrophy also effects the muscles in her face and throat that work together to form clear, concise pronunciation. Which sucks because with Spanish and most romance languages, pronunciation can be the difference between two totally different meanings.

    • @TyrannosaurusGirl
      @TyrannosaurusGirl 7 років тому +24

      Actually Spanish is much less sensitive to little differences in pronunciation than other languages. It's spoken in a lot of countries and there are thousands of very different accents. Her words were a bit slurred, but she was still very easy to understand.

    White Apple Institute celebrates Valeria Rodriguez Fontenla for changing the perception of disabled to differently-abled. As a single mother, she manages to succeed in Molecular Biology and seeks a teaching position in Ecology, and won't let a neuromuscular disease cause her to dropout of school, work, or life!

    At the end I saw that she had her daughter wearing a backpack with a leash, usually I think this is not needed to a certain extent. Though I think this is the real way they should be used, by parents with mobile disabilities because it makes it easier to go out in public alone with their child. I love your story and how you live a pretty normal life compared to some other families who have it much worse.

      Dancegirlkaitlyn my brother has severe ADHD and was diagnosed at the age of 3. My mom uses one of the leash backpack things because he'll run and run but he's 3 and too big to be held. Like you said they should be used at a certain extent not only for mobile disibilities but any other person with a reason.

      Kaitlynjaffe or the leash can be used by any parent whose children are quite rambunctious, have learning disabilities, or have not yet been diagnosed but the parents feel the need to keep them safe. Safety first!

      Emma Goodwin why should we? Freedom of speech we can say whatever we like... Stay off the internet if you're that sensitive to someone's opinion. Some things need to be said whether it's hurtful or not.
