- It’s been 24 years since boxing has had an Undisputed heavyweight champion. However, this year we could see Tyson Fury take on Oleksandr Usyk in a monumental clash for all of the belts. Usyk has managed to unify the heavyweight division in only 4 fights, following his wins against Anthony Joshua, Derek Chisora and Chazz Witherspoon. Now he seeks to take on the biggest challenge of his career against Tyson Fury, the undefeated WBC and lineal heavyweight champion who dethroned Wladimir Klitschko and beat Deontay Wilder in an epic trilogy. Today we take a closer look at this potential fight, and how either boxer can find a path to victory.

A quick correction: Usyk's weight is 221lbs not 244. I got it confused with AJ's in their last fight
Usyk becoming undisputed in a stacked Cruiser division, and undisputed in a competitive (super)Heavyweight division after only 20 professional bouts would be arguably the greatest achievement in the history of the sport

Plus his Olympic and amateur accomplishments. It won’t even be close. He’s already one of the all time greats but after he beats Fury it’ll finally set in for everyone except the haters.

What is most interesting to me about that fight is that Usyk has so far always dominated his opponent in the championship
rounds 10-12, and his engine and workrate is so good he can go through the gears there and really drown his opponent, putting the result beyond doubt. How will Fury's gas tank be in those championship rounds if he has to work much harder than he is accustomed to?

@@dangosypethau Chisora has never been sharp. That was probably one of his best performances and he was still taken to school for 9 rounds. He's never been a KO artist and there's no way he would knock out an iron chined warrior like Usyk

Usyk has been accustomed to fighting much larger men throughout his entire career, both amateur and professional. Fury is not going to be that big of a challenge for him. He's not even that much bigger than AJ. Plus he also fought Joyce no problem

@@gergo2944 Fur is at most 1.5 inches taller than AJ, he's lying about his height. Go look at pictures of him next to the mountain, jason mamoa, magic mike. He even admitted to Otto Wallin in the weigh in that he's 6'7, literally go and watch it, the mic picked it up as they were talking. Fury already got beat by McDermott in the first fight, and he arguably got beat by WIlder in their first fight if you believe the ref counted too slow. Also in the Wallin fight, if it were literally anyone else, that fight would've been stopped because of the cut. Fury is far from unbeatable, and you will see if he grows a pair and fights Usyk, the real king of the division.

What some people don't realise is that Usyk's chin is elite. He's taken punches from murderous hitters like Gassiev and Joshua. Fury's shots wont trouble him too much

It's amusing how the same old, tired arguments pop up. "Fury will lean on him", "Fury is too big/too strong", yada yada.
For one thing, Fury has noticeably been declining in terms of speed since the second Wilder fight. Also, his stamina is overrated. It used to be good for his size, but it seems like people forget how knackered he was in the third Wilder fight. By the time Fury stopped him, Wilder had basically been just a walking punching bag for seven straight rounds. Still, Fury needed 150 power punches (so much for "Kronk Fury who will KO Usyk" - the same Usyk who was never even knocked down in his entire professional career despite fighting such notable punchers as Briedis, Gassiev or Joshua) and 11 rounds to stop a slow, stationery Wilder with zero head movement - and by the end, he was knackered himself. There's only so much ballooning up to 400 lbs then coming back down to 280 (and still carrying an extra 30 lbs around) and boozing and doing coke you can get away with. Fury will turn 35 now, it's only natural that his body has started to break down after all that.
And while Fury was effective against the Wilders of the world, Usyk will be on the move all the time, and weave - his head, his torso, his legs, and his hands will all move constantly. Just tracking such a busy fighter exhausts you mentally. Usyk will make Fury work overtime, will force him to move around, and go after him. Fury has been fighting the same style for years now - throwing jabs from a distance, then throwing a one-two then clinching the guy. Usyk eats bigger guys for breakfast, and what worked for Fury against big, slow, flat-footed plodders will absolutely be useless against Usyk. Do people seriously think that while Cunningham can put Fury on his arse in 2 rounds and Wallin can counter him and cut him so badly that it should have been a TKO win for him, Usyk won't be able to land on, counter and jab him?

I'm a big Usyk fan. That said, we just watched the fight in Latvia when Usyk played patty-cake with that nation's Cruiser Weight champion. Safe to say Usyk pulled 80% of his punches. So what should we expect if Usyk has to come up in weight to fight the giant Gypsy Queen?

What has Fury ever faced before that compares to Usyk?
Fury’s hand speed is not that great. What makes him great is his understanding of range and distance control. Getting his opponents to react to feints/jabs, getting them into the right position to land the big one.
Plus Fury’s huge reach advantage, and leaning on opponents to tire them.
@@bumface1810 Despite his height Fury's reach is only 1" more than Muhammad Ali & Lennox Lewis. Given that reach is wingspan it is not much at all. Leaning on opponents is illegal so Fury has to literally break the rules in order to win.
@rosie mason leaning is not the sole route to victory for Fury, it’s just one of the tricks in his arsenal. His main attribute is controlling the distance and getting his opponent to react to what he’s doing. Also- any great champion know’s how to bend the rules a little to their advantage- Mike Tyson use to follow through with elbows, Lennox would lean on opponents and hold and hit, Holyfield was a bit reckless with leaning in with his head. It’s a fight. And there are no excuses in the ring.

If it was about money, Fury would have taken the Saudi offer, which would have been at least 3 times more than he can make in the UK. Now he wants more than 50/50 because he knows that is what Usyk wants.
So, if it's not about money what is it then? It's about Fury not wanting to have anything to do with Usyk. Hats off to Fury if he finally takes the fight but Usyk has all the wrong atributes to Fury. He's fast, agile, has stunning foot work, head movement and best boxing IQ in the business and like Peter Fury said years ago, very difficult to figure out.
Usyk made AJ look like an amateur and while Fury is an actual good boxer with height advantage, he will suddenly look slow and clumsy. Good luck trying to lean on Usyk, it aint happening.

I honestly think usyk will be exploiting the same technique as Mike Tyson but not in the same way. I think he dances, probes, faints, changes levels, but I think his move will be to get inside Fury's reach. I see some bobbing and weaving. Because Fury's counter hooks and stiff jabs will be too much. He has to get in and get out, change angles. The win will be on points so avoiding punches will be paramount. IMO.

I think everyone knows how Fury will try to use his size and pressure Usyk and wear him down as he understands he can't outbox Usyk. I can't see that strategy having enough success to stop him as Usyk is just too fast and athletic. I see a close fight that goes the distance, but Usyk wins UD as he's the superior boxer. Fury has lost a lot of his movement since his Ben Davidson days , he moved over to the kronk style which has him fighting like the great Klitschko ..oddly the Uysk was the sparing partner Klitschko had the most trouble with ( the gym stopped during their sessions) the puzzle of Uysk makes him more dangerous than people think ...Tyson and Uysk in my eyes are evenly matched , the fury from the first Wilder fight wins easy ...the older kronk ( Klitschko) style battle worn Fury ....the mind ponders

True, it is entirely possible that this could all go horribly wrong for Usyk very early lol. I'd put Fury's chances at about 70% but I'd want to see him work for it. Wilder, Chisora, Whyte are all big strong guys but they weren't a patch on Tyson's boxing skills, not even close.

Fury UD or late stoppage.
Fury will lean and clinch on him as much as possible for as long as possible in the early rounds to take the gas out of him. Real professionals know how to fight dirty and get away with it and that's not a criticism.
Fury got up from a clean right hand from Deontay Wilder so I don't think Usyk's going to be able to drop him. To win Usyk is going to have to move and outscore Fury for 12 straight rounds.

All usyk could try and do is it and run all night, if you watch usyk and Joshua fight usy tires in later rounds and that’s with no pressure on him, but fury doesn’t gas and he’ll be on him all night, fury rounds 8-9.
Usyk doesn't run from anyone he is always in range working off angles and his engine is legendary he had joyce breathing out of his arse after 5 rounds. His punch output went up in both AJ fights from round 10 btw. Fury isnt beating usyk i guarantee it

Usyk only had a 60% ko ratio in the cruiserweight division so in the heavyweight division it will be 40% or even less.
While fury has got up from the floor on multiple times against the hardest punching heavyweight to win.
The heavyweight division is all about punishment. Usyk is a better boxer but fury is a stringer and tougher fighter ,and he will turn it into a war to win ugly.
