Well . If you take it back to trilogy .....
After the show is over, he always ends up being dragged back into his old ways, a life filled with darkness, addictition and depression. I can definitely resonate with his next album.
Also his violence at the end seeing a young couple having an insignificant little argument, just reminds him how he has struggled with relationships his whole life. Pretty awesome. The elevator ending reminded me of the elevator scene from Perfect Blue as well.

Never been a massive The Weeknd fan, at least in the sense of, I haven't heard every song from every album, bought merch or attended a concert etc, but I've always liked many of his songs, at least those that have become popular, but since he released Heartless and the music video, kicking this all off, I've loved the direction cinematically he's taken this, where everything fits within a story. Everything he has released so far, I've been so invested in, both musically and from the cinematic perspective as well.
I definitely agree with you that making concepts for an album that follow a story is a lost art these days, but The Weeknd has definitely brought that back with After Hours. I've been a big fan of Michael Jackson for as long as I can remember and he made concepts for songs, such as Thriller and Smooth Criminal, both having short films.
I can't wait for the album to drop and hopefully see more videos, so we can piece this story together and make out what this all means.

The face you made when it was over...LMAO that was an accurate interpretation of ever person on the planet at that every moment as it ended. So there’s a lot going on here in true Abel style. Of corse it picks up where his performance of Heartless ended. If you notice everything he’s released picks up where the last ended so far. And his broken nose if from getting beat up in the Blinding Lights video. I just also want to point out that we will only fully understand all of the symbolisms after the album and videos are released and they will go together with tweets/IG post while he was making the music..... when After Hours starts playing it seems like he starts acting out the first few lines, but IDK..... and it almost seems like the song After Hours is a summery of the videos for Heartless and Blinding lights...just a thought

Wearing bandages, bandaids, and bruises, is his new look, in reference to the film, where he raises awareness for drunk driving, and what the end result can be. Many people just think it has to do with how he looks in Save Your Tears, but they were two different things completely, and weren’t connected - Using plastic prosthetics, maybe making fun of an ex who went through some surgical procedures over the years.... Unfortunately, no one seems to do their research, just saying “Omg, what did he do to his face?!”, when it can all be read about online😕
