I have a v-amp myself and whenever I change an amp or effect on a preset it will dirty the tone and it wont go back unless I swap to a different preset nd back again. Any advice on what could be causing this problem?

Sorry but unless it's the battery I just don't know. Of course the good news is that you can buy these things on Craigslist all day long for next to nothing.
