My favorite part is that even the camera is confused. Its like Reiner went off script because the camera just cuts back to Hange discussing the hole in the wall like they didn't just reveal the most off the wall betrayal in anime history a few feet away.

To think this reveal is only 3 to 5 days after Eren finds out that Annie was the female titan and then defeated her. He does the same thing here too. Eren is giving them the benefit of the doubt just like he did with Annie. He's being naive, but he also wants to believe that it's wrong because of their friendship. Once the reveal happens it forces him to accept it which in turn hurts him. Great reaction by the way.

I had the extreme privilege of watching all seasons as they came out and I even watched from the beginning everytime a new season came out and the first seasons are literally another show each time. With more information, the whole view we have on every situation changes. If you go back and watch there are tons of little hints and Easter eggs. Like when Eren says that the Armored Titan is just like a normal Titan it shows Reiner eating with no reaction at all.
If you think that is the biggest revelation of the anime. THEY DO NOT HAVE THE MOST REMOTE IDEA OF WHAT AWAITS THEM. And yes, when you finish watching the entire series or at least get to the last two chapters, you can watch it again, with completely different eyes.
To help you a bit, I will try to explain some things. Joining the cadets is not mandatory for them, but they have to be at least 12 years old to do so. They can choose to be farmers or anything else and later change their mind and join the cadets. So, people could assume that's what Reiner and Bert did without thinking it was suspicious. Also, Eren and friends are 15 years old here, and Reiner and Bert are around 17 years old. They probably look older to you because they are taller than the others 😂

Also, the appearance of some of the Titans seems to be based on martial artists. Armored Titan → Brock Lesna (try searching for his name in the image) eren's titan→ Yushin Okami (Please try searching the same way. It seems that they are referring to the body shape rather than the face.) Beast titan→Rich Franklin、Forrest Griffin (If anything, I smiled when I saw Forrest Griffin.) By the way, there is a site called ``Pose Maniacs'' that allows you to refer to various poses of people when drawing manga, and it seems that Colossal titan is drawn based on the human body specimen on the site.

The author of Attack on Titan is extremely intelligent and the animation structure is excellent. If you don't understand something, you can often figure it out if you can bear to stop the animation for a bit and continue watching. In the future, there will be things that even Japanese people will have difficulty understanding, so it may take a lot of time to progress if you stop many times! :D I'm Japanese, but I couldn't understand it alone when I watched anime or manga. It is embarrassing lol.
Haha I think you should edit "progressive titan" to "Attack on Titan" In English the name of the show is deliberately translated differently to the actual Japanese meaning of Shingeki no kyoujin.

You can't just pause it. You gotta let the scene play out whether you understood or not. Pausing takes away a lot of the pressure and stress and emotion of the show. It also helps you rationally think about the situation, which ruins the moment. So... pause less. Also, for the love of god. Dont reverse a scene. It seperates you from what the show wants you to feel. The point is to be confused. Pausing and reversing gives you time to understand, and feel in control.
The easiest way to comprehend the flashback is think about it this way what you're saying on screen is going through Aaron's head the moment he heard him say those words basically confess what they had already previously talked about being a potential and that they are Titan Shifters
