Some grenades you picked up at Walmart don't hurt, though.

@@EdwinSarkissian My friend don't you think you are very close to that grenade when exploded?
This dude is dam good with that m4 what a clean shot.
These guy's are awesome I love their videos
Back in my military days 75 yards away from the blast area was a protective wall of cinder blocks and 2" thick bullet proof glass. This glass had 1000's of craters in it from bb sized shrapnel and smaller hitting it. These pin head small fragments traveling at 4000+fps are barely noticed by the body during adrenaline rush but can cause lots of grief down the road.
I was a private in basic training in Fort Sill, OK in 87 and seem to remember something close to that. Of course, I walked up got handed a grenade threw it, and moved out smartly. Drill Sergeants have a problem with sightseeing.
This looked like an HE grenade and not an frag.
in the early 80's when i was a kid my dad would get huge sores on his back. he would get me and my brother to break them open and dig the bitts of granade out they looked like small bits of wire and and fine metal like the chips from cutting aluminum with a skill saw. i asked him why only his back? his reply was classic Dad, I could reach all the rest my self. Dad was a LRRP 1970-71.

I'm honestly convinced that Edwin and his cameraman made a drunken suicide pact by shooting explosives in the desert.
God loves the drunk!
With all his unsafe antics, I think they have been lucky so far. He was standing like only 20m? away from the grenade without even a sandbag for protection. I pray he don't get any shrapnel ever cos I really like his infectious laughter.
@@angmohnize-to-atasify He literally walked up and handled an unexploded damaged explosive device in the form of a grenade.... Can't tell you how risky that is, let alone the shrapnel... lol.
I think the grenade had explosives in it with no shrapnel. they would have gotten fragments of shrapnel from the distance they were to the explosion.
@@spankyharland9845 I mean
Kinda true
But the shell of it and what it was standing on
Still become shrapnel when it goes off
Not as bad as it being a true frag grenade

I saw this happen once when my Army unit went to qualification. We were assigned to a range that was dual purpose grenade and target for the M16. There was a grenade that never detonated until it got hit entirely at random. All of us were confused when the target just went BOOM! We don't know if it was a hand grenade or a grenade for an M203 launcher. It just went BOOM!

It is odd how real explosions are so much less flashy than Hollywood explosions but you see that shockwave so you know there was actual power behind it.
Also the new 45,000 toothpicks.
yeah because most of the people relate smoke and fire to power of explosion
Hollywood loves to use gasoline in with the explosive so it has that nice fire effect.

Well thats what does the damage in all explosions !
I remember somebody saying that mininukes in fallout shouldn't make mushroom clouds because they are not powerful enough, but if a hand grenade can do it, so can a nuclear explosive
@@alexreitler ya they don’t know what they’re saying, any explosion can create a mushroom cloud
@@alexreitler Mushroom clouding would happen with any explosion if the atmosphere is in suitable condition, i.e. very humid
@@Divine_R that's soo wrong... you never seen explosion in your life didn't you?
a grenade wont make mushroom. a grenade is like a baloon, it "pop" when it explode, it's not directional, and so, it will NEVER make such a mushroom like in this video. it's nothing but a black ( yes, black, not white) smoke cloud created from the blast that then spread around and dissolve in the air. You'll never see a grenade doing a mushroom, even if you put the grenade in the ground, underground or underwater.
mushroom are created by directional explosion, if you compare with like for exemple the H-bomb, the mushroom is created by the fact it's a directional explosion that hit the ground, get resistance from it so it spread around creating the blast shockwave and the mushroom from going up.
if that h-bomb exploded in the sky, then it will do nothing but a cloud that will vanish with the air, you will NEEVER see a mushroom from a bomb that explode in the sky.
so, from what you said, you clearly never have seen real explosion outside of video games or movies..
They are a LITTLE close to the area of effectiveness and most certainly within the range of catching hot twisted metal
Those .50's skipping across the ground and into the mountain is 😎👍🏼
The shockwave of the grenade was awesome but watching the shockwave trace in the sand from the .50BMG at 3:18 was super cool too! It made it so you could see the path the bullet took!

@@ninjaboyo3370 white powder bought on ebay that explodes when shot. They put it in whatever they want to explode when they shoot it. Real grenades would be just a puff of smoke when shot or some fire when you ignite the gunpowder, when it's ruptured there's nowhere for pressure to build up so it cant explode. The 5.56 with optics is perfect for shooting grenades on TAC vests. Remember the 50 BMG is an "Anti-material" round, so the 50 BMG is like a kinetic grenade to begin with.
So what you're saying is that you use the 50BMG when the guy DOESN'T have grenades on his vest, but you still want him to land two counties over?
@@andersjjensen 50bmg's are clearly anti-material rounds, not anti-man rounds.
@@alexdriftersupraman There was a joke in my statement and you missed it.
That being said, as the M2 gunner on an M109 (25 years ago) our instructions were simple: "Focus on things with wheels and tracks first, but proceed to help the infantry with any boot problem they might have as soon as you run out of other targets". The 50BMG gets used against personnel a lot. Since it's mounted on pretty much everything that has a permanent mount. And personnel tends to shoot at everything they don't like. So fire is returned with what happens to be available.

@@MyKharli - They were pretty far apart. But what it did do is obliterate those 2" x 8"s (or 2" x 6"s?). If you focused the blast energy somehow, it would be much more devastating. There was too much open area to disperse the blast/ shockwave. I don't think shaped charges have more energy than that grenade (or much more energy), yet their energy is directed/ focused/ angled in such a way that they deliver most (or much more) of their energy to the target (which is usually a pre-weakened steel beam/ girder / or precast/ reinforced concrete, if it's the kind used in explosive controlled demolition).

Grenades like the one shown won't detonate when shot. You'd have to perfectly hit the detonator inside.
Go back to the close up shot of the explosion and run it at 0.25x, the explosion clearly starts on the ground where the light coloured curved object is.
