This can be a good side hustle if you have a camera or a phone with a good camera but shutterstock will reject a lot of your photos if they are a tiny bit unfocused

Made 40 dollars during 6 years with lots of high quality photos, mostly travel, city and landscapes, definitely not a good side hustle. :)

Yeah, I made around 20 in a year. on 3 sites And shutterstock (like most of theese sites) goes the AI learning way, which means they tend to reject more and more photos only to use them for machine learning. The best thing photographers can do now is to withdraw from any machine learning programs. Still you never know if they will still use your images, regardless of your decision.

Apparently low quality images sell better so that may be your problem, also no matter what anyone says you do have to give some effort advertising and getting your name out to make progress.

You obviously doing something wrong only saying this because my nephew made 231£ in less then 2 months with his mobile phone photos 😅😅
Am not an expert so am afraid that cannot really guide you more but if you have many good quality photos even without knowing what you doing still you should have made much more then 40$ .
Don't let yourself discouraged by that just try to figure out when and where things went wrong for you an improve there.
In fairness talking I think most people are fed up with landscapes and photos of touristic destinations, there gotta be a much higher demand for special photos that capture an instant that otherwise would be hard if not impossible to see , for example a butterfly coming out of the cocoon would perhaps bring you much more buyers then a photo of London Bridge for example , also don't forget one thing maybe you make photos in an extreme high quality but those photos are hard to use and display due to them hudge size and resolution , so there is no use for me to buy a photo from you that is in a resolution that my phone cannot display 😂 isn't it ?
Anyhow good luck and all the best

@@danaugustin3688 True, people these days don't look for quality. As a photographer, all my uploaded photos are high quality. We see the quality of products and productions falling. Quality work is not a standard anymore. Have to upload some bad phone photos, when I will have time.

Thank you for this! Question: can you upload the same photos to each platform, or if you submit one to, say, Shutterstock, you can’t submit the same one to Alamy?

I think that it depends on exclusive or non-exclusive license. When you give to the platform an exclusive rights to your photo, your commission from selling will be higher, but you can't sell this particular photo in another platform during the duration of your agreement, and in other side - if you give non-exclusive rights to the platform, your commission will be lower, but you can sell this photo in another platform.

Usually 15-25 cent per download, sometimes 1$ or 1.5$ which is very rare. I've made 40 dollars with hundreds of high quality travel photos in the last 6 years.

I think it will still matter as Not everyone is able to produce good AI Fotos. At the end the photographers will be useless. But you can also say that the Smartphone Killed Stock Footage because everyone can use it but it' a questions of quality. But I also hope that a Lot of agencies will Go broke because they are way too expensive.
