After the death of her older sister Ursula, Morgana takes action to finish what her sister had started in The Little Mermaid 2 Return to the sea; Morgana longed to take control of the oceans. She was persistent, cunning and manipulative making her a dangerous threat to King Triton and his subjects, but was she really attempting to take over the ocean because of her own desire? Or was she really attempting to prove herself to her judgemental and cruel family?

That line she says as she screams at the thundering sky “SEE THAT MA?!!! WHO’S YOUR FAVORITE NOW???!!!!!” can be very relatable to a lot of people, She’s a much more relatable three-dimensional villain then most film critics give her credit for.

I prefer Morgana as a villain over Ursula (though I do *love* Ursula's deal-with-the-devil thing), since Morgana was a stranger to Melody & manipulated her whereas her older sister was a *known threat to Ariel* yet the redhead fell for tricks anyway. Plus Melody was a child while Ariel was a teenager. Sooo, the former falling for Morgana's tricks felt much more realistic to me than Ariel falling for Ursula's. (Although, in Ariel's defence, she wasn't given any time to think the deal through as the whole thing went fast.)

While Morgana is alright, and I can understand an argument that she's a better villain than Ursula, you're not doing Ariel as a character justice. Yes, she knew that Ursula was dangerous, but her father's controlling treatment was so bad that she was desperate to do anything. She was extremely emotionally vulnerable after her awful dad literally destroyed all of her most prized possessions right in front of her.
Ariel was fully and completely aware that Ursula is a dangerous person and that the deal she was making was risky. But not only was it a risk she was willing to take, she was being convinced that it was the only way she had to escape her current life, and she'd be willing to do ANYTHING to escape her current life. Possibly even trade it for being one of those worms.
So, you either stay trapped and out of control of your own life forever, or you try to get someone to kiss you in three days. Doesn't seem like that daunting of a feat in context. Even if she failed she may very well have preferred belonging to Ursula to belonging to Triton.
Ariel wasn't an idiot, she knew what she was doing.

No worries, I actually agree with you; I don't think Ariel herself is an idiot, just that her trusting Ursula was idiotic. However, like cha said, the circumstances caused that trust to make sense; Ursula was specifically shown targeting Ariel when she was vulnerable & during Poor Unfortunate Souls pressured her into signing the contract without giving Ariel even a second to think through whether it's a good idea to accept the deal. It's a common manipulation tactic that I've even experienced myself.
Triton loves Ariel, his destroying of her stuff done out of anger which he instantly regretted; that doesn't excuse his actions but I understand why he did it just like I understand why Ariel did all the things she did. Actually, I agree with Ariel's choice to go against her father's rules specifically coz the society she lived in stifled her; all she wanted to do was understand humans & learn more about them, yet was shunned for it (for understandable reasons considering what happened to Athena, but still...)
I didn't mean to make it sound like Ariel is a bad character. She's a brilliantly written character, but between Melody trusting Morgana an' Ariel trusting Ursula the former is easier for me to believe than the latter; I love both movies & both heroines & both villains, though. I think the situations are also very different despite their similarities? Melody had been lied to her whole life about something she loved by her mother, while Ariel knew exactly where Triton stood on things but her father's rules were stifling her; Morgana had empathy aiding in her manipulation, Ursula had her victim having been very recently devastated aiding in her manipulation. Similar, yet different; an' different doesn't mean bad. ...Am I making any sense?

Melody stands out in the film to me as well. She's very adorable in my eyes, and her song "For a moment" is fun to listen to.
she isn't evil because 1: she been living under Ursula's shadow 2: Ursula tricked people into thinking she could help them, then turned the into weird gross creatures that she had in the entrance to her lair for years , Morgana tricks one child into bringing her the trident then traps her in an ice prison which she escapes out of in like 5 minutes.

she's still evil. if you attempt to kill someone, you're evil. it's as simple as that. when she trapped melody, she meant to keep her trapped, not for her to escape. just because i have a tragic backstory doesn't give me the right to kill someone and not be classified as evil, though I see what you mean.

I think Morgana is kinda evil because she hurt others to get what she wanted. And she was willing to destroy them as well. Yes, she was treated horribly her whole life, but she didn't have to do what she did. She might not be "pure evil", but she does have some evil in her. I wonder if she would have been revived and put on the isle of the lost like Ursula? Hmmm... wouldn't it be nice if someone made a video on that...? *WINK *WINK 😉😉

Even though Little Mermaid II is by no means a good film, in that it essentially just rehashes a lot of the same story, I do think it gets too much hate, and Morgana as a result is underrated. And I think, whatever she became, her intent wasn’t to be evil.
In a way, what little we get about the relationship between Ursula, Morgana, and their mother, reminds me of the relationship between Regina, Zelena, and Cora on Once Upon a Time, and I’m curious if that was on the writers’ minds when crafting that arc. Instinct tells me most likely not, but it is intsresting that Regina plays the role of Ursula for Ariel.

I saw the sequel before I saw the original little mermaid (I didn't own any of the originals I only had Disney sequels probably because my family didn't have a ton of money and sequels were cheaper) and when I saw the first one I was pissed because in my eyes it wasn't the little mermaid..ive always related most to Melody anyway so I've always had a preference for the second little mermaid

What Morgana said at 2:03 is something I relate too a lot because my late mother criticized me as well almost constently but luckily now she's resting peacefully in heaven and I now live with a loving father who loves me for being me and doesen't criticise me as much as she did 🙏🏻🕊💚

Well I’m not gonna lie, I already knew her intentions when I first watched the movie. She didn’t really hide the fact that she was jealous of Ursula and brings it up several times in the movie. She was in a competition of committing evil deeds, so of course she was evil, but she did it mostly of jealousy. Anyways, although I (and I think mostly everyone) knew her intentions, it’s a good video anyways 👍🏻

I think Morgana is between evil and good. Like you said, she wanted to prove she was good enough to do something monumental to her mother. She just wanted her mother’s approval. However, she took her quest for success too far. Sooooo, does it make her good or bad..?

Fun addition: in the original script, Ursula was triton’s sister and that was the plot point. That would make Morgana also triton’s sister and she would be doubly deflected; first her sister, and then her brother? Shame Disney didn’t stick with this.

Morgana seemed like the girl who was just a shadow compared to her sister, Ursula.
Morgana is an underrated complicated villain. I do believe she is evil but there is a lot of history, family issues and personal emotional imbalances going on. Her tale is a lot more complicated and I thank you, Issac, for discussing it. Ursule has evil fitting her like a glove but Morgana's more of a cloak she could never really shrug off. Both are bad but in different ways.
She is voiced by Pat Carol, who also did Ursula the sea witch as well.

@Why u so obsessed with me hmm, I don’t know. In one of this guys other videos about Ursula and her life and how she killed her sisters. She killed them to get to the thrown which Morgana was not blocking which would mean Ursula had no point in killing her. It could be possible Ursula is Morgana’s half sister, it would be explain why Ursula looks like a squid then a mermaid since she took after her mother and why I’m the deleted scene with the picture of their family it’s only their mom and not either of their fathers because they don’t have the same father but the same mother and give another reason why Ursula’s mother loves Ursula more because she is royalty while Morgana isn’t.
I could picture Morgana and Uma getting along Ursula seemed to criticize Uma as much as Uma's grandma criticized Morgana. "When I was your age this or when I was your age that or Uma why can't you Be More Like Me When I Was Your Age!!" Boy, Morgana would get a kick out of it
Speaking of how you feel bad for Morgana, I like how in mlp, they reform the villains, showing that everyone can be good if they just try, and I also like how in mlp, one villain, Queen Chrysalis, didn't accept being reformed, showing that not all villains would chose to be good at first.

Just awesome I didn't know there was a deleted song from Little Mermaid 2. I do believe Morgana was Evil (I won't say pure evil because everyone has a choice.). She was obviously raised to be evil if her mom approved of Ursula's evil path (assuming that their mother was alive to see and or encourage that decision).
For a future video I'd love to here your thoughts on why Fuli is already on her own in The Lion Guard.
I can't help but believe that in a way Morgana may have despised her family but looked up to Ursula.
In theory I think Ursula was the one that put in the time to try and teach Morgana magic while their parents spent all their time criticizing Morgana for the lack of power in her spells but Ursula was the one who was always telling her to keep at it and keep trying.
So while Morgana hated her family she probably had a little love for Ursula, that's my theory anyway.
The scene of her sinking to the bottom of the ocean,unable to move and consious is actually horrifying.
Morgana has a huge resemblance to Scar in the Lion King. She's second best and hates her sister 😂
Morgana reminds me so much of Uma from descendants she was always second best to Mal. Ursula always made sure she knew it too. And when Mal left the isle Uma became self proclaimed queen. I really believe Uma’s personality was modeled after morganas instead of Ursula’s which could be why Ursula doesn’t seem to care that much for her.
Uma and her aunt Morgana are alike. They most are mistreated by Ursula. And they both dislike Ursula and her vanity and pride.
Morgana may have been in competition with Ursula but she still loved her hence why she wanted to avenge Ursula from Ariel and King Triton. I see it as family friendly competition.

My theory is that Morgana isn't pure evil. Like most sisters they were once best friends but then her mother started to favorite Ursula witch resulted to Morgana wanting to prove herself to her mother witch therefore caused them to drift a part. But when ursula died Morgana felt sad that she lost her once best friend, but she saw it as an opportunity to prove herself. So she decided to take revenge of her sister and to prove herself to her mother . 😁
I'm not going to lie I'm amused by the fact this video is about things such as Morgana trying to get a one up on Ursala but Poor Unfortunate Souls plays in the background the whole way through it. Love the videos though!
Based on all the valid points stated, I would have agreed Morgana may not have been pure evil. However, she did attempt to murder Melody by sealing her in an ice prison under-water, knowing Melody's time as a mermaid was "expiring", thus, leaving Melody to drown to death.
So what's your point? You're literally just summarizing her role in the movie without an argument.
I don’t think her being frozen in ice would count as killing her. Ice is just frozen water. Wouldn’t it melt anyway? Instead of even needing sunlight or other kinds of thawing heat.

I think she was torn between avenging Ursula and proving herself and the latter won out.
When I first saw TLM 2 l thought morgana was getting revenge on Eric and Ariel for destroying Ursula, which in fact it was Eric who killed her. I don't think Morgana knows that Eric killed her, and later in the movie we find out that she's jealous of her sister instead of vengencing her death like she vowed earlier.
I don't blame Morgana for being jealous of Ursula because Morgana works hard to do magic like she tried to revive Undertow to his normal size.
And Morgana being the youngest, usually it's the older sibling that's the jealous one. Neitherless Morgana is just as evil as her sister, but much evil-er because first she tried to kill baby Melody and did it again by locking her in an ice cave. Also she tried to eliminate Triton with his trident. And Morgana has some good points than Ursula. She hold on to the trident longer than Ursula. Also Morgana wasn't killed like Ursula was, she was frozen but alive because her eyes were moving.

Triton isn’t Morgana’s brother. He’s Ursula‘s.
So Ursula is the sister of king triton, if you listen to the extended version of the song in the beginning of the little mermaid, so if she is the sister of Ursula does that mean she is also related to king triton? Ursula also mentions in the movie that she was used to feasts all the time in the kingdom, further alluding to fact that she was the sister of king triton

Something that you might think about is that "Fathoms Below" was edited so it no longer stated that King Trident and Ursula were siblings. This could then bring to question whether or not Morgana was also King Trident's sibling or if the reason that Ursula was prioritized by their mother was that Ursula was the eldest and the daughter of the God of the sea, Poseidon. Either way Morgana was a victim of her family which could have been the reason for her craving of ruling the sea.

She just wanted to prove herself to her mother. In fact, maybe this is the reason Ursula tried to take over Atlantica. She was moved by her mother and brought up to think that she was perfect. Thinking this, Ursula probably concluded that she should be the one who was king...er...queen of the sea. Or maybe the mother hated both, yet was cruelest to Morganna. It begs the question: Who is Ursula and Morganna's mother? You should make a video about that. But I still don't think that Morganna wanted to be evil. In fact, maybe she had wanted to prove herself to Ursula herself.
Usually most of the villains from the sequel movies are lame, but Morgana is one I really liked.

So Triton had 2 sisters because in the double disc DVD release of TLM we find out Ursula was King Triton's sister on the 2nd disc...Interesting
The Little mermaid and Moana are connected. Tamatoa the crab said at the end of Moana that we would help him if his name was sabastian and he was red or something like th at. But, how did he know who Sebastian was? Well moanas grandmother became a ray. And did you noticed Ursula and tamatoa are both purple?
SuperCarlinBrothers did a video explaining that Ursula was actually Tamatoa, just in another form, just like Moana's grandma. This is exactly why he knows Sebastion. Also, he said if his name was Sebastion AND he had "a cool Jamaican accent." Tamatoa's words, not mine.

Lol, the only reason why Ursula was their mom's favorite is because she had godly blood. Ursula & Triton are half siblings and the children of Poseidon while Morgana was probably the bastard child of some other man. Plus Poseidon gave her the shell necklace which was supposed to bestow her with great power & amplify her already natural powers just like Triton's trident. And mama octo must've liked power over simplicity
Morgana is merely misunderstood I mean listen to what she says near the end of the movie,"who's your favorite now mother?", It seems to me that Morgana wants to prove that she can be just as bad as Ursala was

have you heard about the theory that Ursula is Tritons sister? It makes sense too
I do not believe Morgana was pure evil - homegirl was way too comical, also I'm completely like her on a Monday LOL. Morgana was stuck in her sister's shadow because their mom played favoritism. Like you said she hid behind the defeat of her sister as to why she was taking revenge but, do I think she sincerely cared that her sister was killed? HELL NO! She resented Ursula because she was always compared to her and I doubt Ursula played a supportive big sister who believed in her little sister's potential. Now with her dead, she has the opportunity to prove what she's made of and she wanted to prove she could be better than anything Ursula was. And since Ursula was evil, Morgana was going to prove she could be bigger & badder than her sister. Even when it comes to Disney, I don't believe monsters are born, they are created. I don't think Morgana really wanted to rule the sea, it was her sister's goal and a powerful goal she failed to achieve, All Morgana wanted was to achieve what her sister couldn't - "TOTAL DOMINATION OF THE SEAS."
Did you know that morgana was inspired by the popular female Disney villain maleficent because they both interrupt the christening of the newborn child and quickly vanish afterward plus they both have green skin
Anyone else ever wonder if Ursulas necklace some how helped her with her magic....just mabe if it has the power to hold ariels voice (in its own right a kinda magic in its self as descust in one of ur videos or at least in theory )then mabe it has more /can do more ..... holds some magic abilities however I think u might have already descust this and I'm just rambling Idr lol😌
