- In this video I build a cherry monitor stand with a continuous grain walnut drawer. I show how I layout my dovetails, how to cut a housing dado by hand, and how to use a plough plane. Hope you enjoy it.

Great to see you back in the shed and posting. Everyone's keen to see you make stuff but plenty of us know that business and life take up so much time! Let the channel be a release rather than an added pressure and we'll catch up with you whenever you're here!
Thanks very much. That's exactly what the channel needs to be.
A nice glass of whiskey, a bowl of tobacco, and the smell of sawdust, I can't think of a better combination. Beautiful project, thank you for sharing!
John, another excellent work piece. I wonder how many of your viewers have the same space, range of tools and skills. You’re amazing. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you very much!
Great video showing real wood working. Keep it up John.
Thanks, will do!
Great "small" project John. Nice to see how our skills can be used for all kinds of things like this and that even with just hand tools it doesn't take that long to make something beautiful that will last a lifetime.
Glad you enjoyed it
A fantastic looking project. Clean and sleek. Great job John
Thanks
Nice one great to see you back sharing projects.
Thanks 👍
Nice build, that plough plane will have to go on the christmas list this year.
Great little tool
Lovely work John, great to see you back on and the little kiddy school projects next to the laptop stand on your desk!!! ❤
Great to see you back. I always enjoy your videos. I think you should treat yourself to a router plane. They're just as fun as a plough.
Thanks. I have a veritas router plane I really should use it more.
Good to see honest mistakes that we all make from time to time and simple ways to fix them. Great little project.
Cheers David
Always look forward to your videos - i enjoy your relaxed approach, it's obvious you value the time you are able to spend in the workshop. Thank you.
Thank you
yes. good to see new videos again. what a great little build. thankyou.
Cheers
That's a nice item John & probably useful for a lot of people. If you had the time, you could probably sell lots of those!
Great to see you back, I've missed your videos. Really enjoyable watch and lovely end result.
Thank you very much
Great to have you back in the shop John with a very nice project too. Hopefully life's treating you and your family well. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you
I did mine 900 x 400mm pallet wood panel on 130mm legs with stretchers. Table saw, #5 bench plane & a block plane. No drawer as I my skills aren't there yet. Nice project John. Take care & stay safe.
Loved the Video. Great job.
Glad you enjoyed it

Great to see ya back john.... 👍 looking forward to this
Thanks 👍
Great work John. Love your work mate 🇦🇺.
Thanks 👍
Really enjoyed this John, thanks. Had one of these on my roundtuit list for a while now, maybe this will give me the push to finally do it!
Glad you liked it!
I appreciate you pointing out the mistake. I've just begun practicing dovetails, and I find myself getting discouraged at times because everyone else's dovetails look perfect while mine resemble the mistake you made (the only difference being that all of my dovetails have the same issue, not just one 😂)
Keep at it, no one made perfect dovetails without plenty of practice.
Great to see you back John, hope all is well, great video.
Thanks Barry
Great Project John good to see back
Thanks Christy
Thats a tidy job John. Great to see ya back in the shop.
Cheers Brendan
Woohoo he's back baby 🎉🎉🎉
Thanks!
Nice project and great video. Thanks for sharing. It gives me a couple of ideas
Glad to hear it!
Great little project.
Thanks!
Good to see you back in the shed👍
Great project, nice to see you back in action. Fair play for making this so accessible, you simplify everything. Also nice to acknowledge the errors.
I have built your mitre station, it’s working a treat and was such a straightforward build.
Thank you very much Paul.
Nice project, nice work!
Cheers
I'd put a small strip on the bottom of the drawer that stops the keyboard from going to far in. If it does, instead of moving the stand to get it, you pull out the drawer then push back in.
Xin chào tôi yêu gỗ tôi yêu công việc của bạn 🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤
Thank you.
Maybe ya done it to explain better, but my handtool mindset was shoutin 😂 i mark dovetails the same way, but id step off from both sides, then mark the top end and the face at the same time with that gauge...... Im savin time anywhere i can coz hand tool stuff is kinda slow 😂 but aye, can understand why ya migt have done that to explain better 😁
On another note; your videos aint gettin recommended to me anymore...... I had to go to your channel to see this, thought "havent seen the lad in a while, i may go check on em" 😳 maybe a more "catchy" clickbate title is in order...... There no harm in that, if UA-cam is a source of your wage then its only natural to "work" to your advantage so more people see it.
Good to see ya again lad, love from Wexico (Wexford) 😁
Great to see you back! Can you link to your miter shooting board video?

@@JohnMcGrathManInShed thank you!
Where do you get your wood from boss
McMahons hardwoods mostly
Good to see you back John. I saw a dovetail video a couple of days ago where he said that if you're sawing slightly off the line, DON'T TRY TO CORRECT IT, keep cutting straight. If you do you _will_ end up with a gap as you demonstrated. He said one slightly differently angled edge is much less obvious. Found it, 5:40 here.... ua-cam.com/video/Se-bRIRG7Y4/v-deo.html
Where's the laptop?
In your imagination
