    You might be interested in looking at how the updated stralsund deals with EMP protection - I built the craft so that all the HA is touching so emp can travel throughout the entire craft with no resistance so that it almost always hits a surge protector

      That's really cool!

    One thing that I found out in regards to EMP protection is that less is sometimes more. By that I mean you should maybe not fully encase your LWC with ruber, but instead just place no blocks at all directly connecting to it, apart from one single block of rubber. That way, the EMP charge will reach a dead end when it goes for the LWC. Since the pathfinding of EMP prefers paths which will have the most possible damage done, meaning it will basically never go for the LWC as long as you have at least one single surge protector left on our craft.
    In theory, if you want to take this principle a step further, you can even make some interesting towerdefense inspired builds, where a long path of rubber winds through a singular layer of the turret. Additionally, you can to some extent even do that with your AI compartment. The tests that I have run so far have resulted in a craft, which has 0 surge protectors and is entirely immune to any EMP charges below about 85000 EMP strength, which I think is only achievable with very big CRAMs or ridiculously large missiles. If anyone is interested, I could upload it to the steam workshop, so you can see for yourself what this thing can withstand.

      Good point! Rubber is good, but empty air is better! :D

    Honestly with turrets I don’t even bother with emp protecting the detection in the cap beyond placing surge protectors somewhere nearby cuz I feel like it’s too much a compromise on armor and I instead rely on redundancy in detection.

      Also I generally prioritize aesthetics over max mining my designs so there’s rhat

    One thing to note is certain gaps EMP can cross. Applique armor and the sections on Ring Shields act as full blocks (all 6 sides) for EMP pathing even to blocks they are not connected to for example.

    What sort of materials do you typically use for this? when rubber is not an option, that is.

      I pretty much always use rubber. Next best thing is stone, though.

      Look at the blocks, they have the EMP protection listed. Wood and Stone are 15% reduction, rubber is 30%, metal is 1% and heavy armor is 0%

      If you're using a decent amount of HA in close proximity, you can definitely get away with alloy if you want the hitpoints and armor

      rubber is also very good for not just emp shelding but its also the best kind of metreal for keeping serface craft like boats floating on water. but thats only in the case for serface boats. not for any under water servaces. that means in a nut shell submersables and ruber don't mix thats what balasts are for. also hehuim is better for airships and space craft for the most part anyway for in the air but you can combie that also with rubber can also help with space craft and aircraft to stay on the water servace longe enontgh to get the thsoe air breathing costuim jet engines back oline for druing repaires however after crashing in the water sometimes with they land softly entogh. also rubber is also very good in makeing some weapons like ap and lasers and inceratry weapoons to be a much weaker if the devs have rembers to proerly implented thsoe real life cacterstics of ruber then a game like from the dephs that is.

    what type of shells would be good all rounders for 500mm 8m clips?

    • @BorderWise12
      @BorderWise12  8 місяців тому +1

      APHE or AP Timed Frag with supercav bases are what I'd reccommend for a general purpose shell. With added rail chargers if you're feeling fancy. 👍
