    The most important thing that should be on everyone mind currently should be to invest in different sources of income that doesn't depend on the government. Especially with the current economic crisis around the word. This is still a good time to invest in various stocks, Gold, silver and digital currencies.

    I'm very privileged to have been able to move to Australia. About 12 years ago my dad was one of those highly skilled workers Australia often look for and his company actually sponsored our move here. I'm 24 yo now and while I'm by no means a rich person myself (I couldn't even dream of affording a rental on my lonesome) I'm very thankful to be here in Australia instead instead of South Africa which I haven't even visited since moving. Aussies are good, hard-working people and I'm proud to be able to call myself Australian

      I beg to differ. Overall the standard of living for most of us Australians is very high. The mining sector in Western Australia for example pays high wages, especially to those in the trades. The royalties paid by mining companies to state governments reduces the need to tax individuals at a higher level. All the infrastructure and other developments created by these companies create large amounts of employment with high wages. So the wealth being created is definitely being shared and improves the standards of living of Australia. The companies who create these enterprises bear the risk. I have no problem with them making healthy profits.
      I would also point out that for most Australian’s their superannuation fund balances represent a significant proportion of their personal wealth. A lot of funds hold investments in the resources sector. So when the publicly listed resource companies grow and make profits, that is shared by all those Australians whose super funds have invested in them.

    It's often said that 90% of Australia is largely uninhabited, and as an Australian, I would agree that it is the case. However it also means that 10% of Australia is not uninhabited, an area of about 300,000 sq. kilometres, or about the size of France and England combined. This puts into perspective, not just the size of inhabited Australia, but also the sparseness of the settled land. Australia has just 26 million people, whereas France and England have a population of about 120 million, giving Australia about 20% of the population size of their European cousins. When I've travelled about Australia it seems clear that there are degrees of harshness that make some land more harsh than inhabited. I grew up on a wheat farm in Western Australia which is although agricultural, it has a limited season for growing anything. This would typify perhaps as much as the 5% of Australia that is neither populated nor unpopulated, but it still produces agriculture. In actual desert areas, there are beef and sheep stations. These can be huge, some as big as small countries, where residents often travel by plane. Knowing Australia as I do, most people living in the desert do so because they want to. It's a free country for anyone who wishes to relocate.

    • @Yassty
      @Yassty Рік тому

      Your observations highlight the stark contrast between the size of inhabited Australia and the densely populated countries in Europe, despite the two continents being relatively close in size. The existence of vast, uninhabited areas in Australia is a testament to the country's rugged and remote terrain, and it's clear that life in these regions can be harsh and challenging. However, as you mentioned, there are still those who choose to live and work in these areas, often because of a strong sense of community and a love for the unique landscapes and lifestyles.

    Only a very small percentage of that gdp makes it into Australia as most of the big earners are listed companies and 86% of all listed companies are foreign owned, the more successful of those companies are almost completely foreign owned,yes some of those companies pay proper taxes a lot of them especially the biggest and most profitable fiddle the books excessively to the point they pay very little in terms of percentage of what the companies are really making (oil and gas,mining,banking)the way figures and stats for average income are, unemployment etc etc are measured differently in Australia than USA,Canada,UK , because our countries politicians choose to try and fool the public with beautiful numbers but they are lies but economists know what the real numbers are. There are millions of people struggling to survive with the huge and out of control cost of living in Australia, I would estimate roughly 50% maybe more.Unless you already own a home most won't be able to afford one anymore and are forced to rent in a market where there isn't enough housing so rent keeps spiralling ridiculously out of control nation wide with very little government measures to combat the lack of housing and they keep migration very high compounding the issue dramatically.

    Everything is great in Australia exept the housing price . i came to Australia 31 years ago , bought my 4 bedroom house for $214.000 , today is worth over $1.1 million , my weakly income was $650 , now days you might earn $900 per week , and i live around 30 km away from the city , closer you get ,higher you pay , 2 weeks ago my aunty sold here 2 bedroom unit 12 km away from the city for 1.3 million .it's just ridiculous , it's rediculous.
    If a young couple decide to get married , and take mortgage to buy their dream house , avrage house start from $1 million , weekly payment $750 . how many years will take them to pay that off ? lets say they both work , combined they earn $1800 per week , take of $750 for mortgage $1050 left , shoping , petrol , electricity bill , mobile bill , counsil rate , water bill , so they worked the whole week by the end $0 saving .

    Thank you for a mini documentary that rings true to this Aussie. I've seen some bad ones that preference jokes over much actual information.
    As far as agile economies go, personally I'd much rather have the regulatory protections of the EU, especially where it comes to food safety and internet rules. Our primary food produce is very good, but we allow 4000 food additives in our processed food banned in the EU. I'm not happy about that.
    At the moment, AFAIK, it is the Air BnB investment sector driving up the property prices the most. It used to be foreigners and investment/retirement trusts buying housing as part of their balanced portfolios, and leaving it empty so that there is no wear and tear from tenants depreciating the price of the property. However the government put a modest tax on empty properties which curbed that market somewhat.
    Family reunion migration is a large portion of immigration, as well as skilled sector migration. Australia took in a large (proportional to our then population) amount of European and eastern Mediterranean and Jewish refugees after WW1, and up to 25k Vietnamese refugees arrived by boat every year for many years during and after the Vietnam war, even during the 1980s. Our thriving food, coffee and cafe culture was very much built by refugees and their many family members who migrated to be with them in their train.

      No, Australia was rich then too, due to gold and wool. In the late 1800s, Australia and Argentina were two of the most prosperous countries on the planet. Argentina screwed up in the 1900s but Australia continued to do ok.
