I came here for the shoe review and got blown away when you started skating. Damn, brother.
I've been loyal to Emerica since 1999 and for me, there's only two things this brand is not capable of:
    1. Make a bad shoe
    2. Pick a bad team rider
My transition from skating puffy skate shoes to the slim ones wasn't easy. The slim ones don't give me the same level of confidence as the puffy ones so I had to try different models that Emerica has dropped since the puffy shoe era ended. When I finally got a pair of Wino G6 slip ons, I never thought of trying anything else until Dakota Servold's pro model came out - I had to grab two pairs because I love how they look! I was also confident that they wouldn't feel any different from the Wino G6 slip ons that I've been skating for years and I was never wrong. Now that my last pair is about to retire, I'm thinking of trying the Hoban and I'm glad I found this video. Keep em going, brother.
    👊

Hey man thanks so much for the kind words I appreciate it. And I’m happy to hear there’s still skaters staying loyal to skater owned brands. Especially when it comes to shoes. I think we all can agree there’s too many non skater skate shoe brands now days.

    • @Bloodlust-hc4gm

@@ArjunShah Yeah, there's too many. I'm just glad most skaters in my country still support the skater owned brands. Not gonna lie, there were pro models from corporate brands that caught my attention. But I always thought those companies can definitely survive without the skateboarding community.

I've had these for a month now, very thick comfy insole. They look good. and Braden is a 1 in a billion skater let's support him

Skated the shoe and a couple of things I agree with and one I disagree with.
First, lace placement is great. Didn’t rip once. Second, also agree that it’s super grippy, and for me it never died down. Some of my more grippy shoes are vans and nb480, and these are easily more grippy. Great if you love grip, but for me these were the first shoe that made me realize too much grip is real. Third, durability is indeed top notch. If anything maybe the tread wears away somewhat average to below average. Fourth, yup pretty comfortable after breaking in but not that much more than g6 or popcush shoes imo. Though I didn’t find them that comfortable right out of the box.
What I don’t agree with is the boardfeel. They’re good, but many shoes beat it imo. Vans beat em for both upper and sole to a considerable degree. I did some AB testing and it was clear. Even shoes like dunks have more boardfeel in the sole.
One other thing, which was a bummer for me, is that the pair I got ran super long. It’s the same size as my other shoes and a half size smaller than some, but are easily the longest shoes I have. So definitely have to try these on at ur local if they carry em. I was able to skate them mostly normal, but the crazy length combined with the grippiness completely threw off my flick. My winos fit me small actually, and those have the same sole, so I was surprised when these fit me so big

@ from emerica I used to love the wino g6 laced, so I should probably try the Dickson’s at some point. Overall favorite, it’s a super basic shoe but the vans skate old skool. It doesn’t do anything extremely well, but it does everything juuust right, the Goldilocks shoe imo

The Hoban shoes by Emerica are a testament to the brand’s commitment to quality skate footwear, bringing durability, style, and skate-friendly functionality together in a versatile design. Designed with input from professional skateboarders and made to withstand the rigors of skateboarding, these shoes offer a blend of form and function that appeals not only to skaters but also to those looking for a stylish, reliable shoe for daily wear.
One of the most prominent features of the Hoban shoes is their durability. Emerica is known for designing shoes that last under heavy use, which is especially crucial for skateboarders who subject their footwear to constant wear and tear. The Hoban is crafted with durable suede and synthetic materials, making it resistant to abrasions from grip tape and rough surfaces. Reinforced stitching around high-stress areas, such as the toe cap and side panels, ensures that the shoe can handle the repeated impacts and slides that skateboarding demands. This durability extends the lifespan of the shoes, making them a more economical choice for skaters who would otherwise go through pairs quickly.
Emerica’s focus on skater needs is evident in the Hoban’s construction, particularly in its sole. The Hoban shoes feature a vulcanized sole, which is often preferred by skaters for its flexibility and board feel. Vulcanized soles provide a closer connection to the skateboard, enabling better control and precision during tricks and maneuvers. Additionally, the grippy rubber outsole provides excellent traction, making it easier for skaters to keep their footing on the board. This balance between grip and flexibility is a crucial aspect of skate shoe design, and Emerica has carefully tailored the Hoban to meet this need.
Another key aspect of the Hoban shoes is their design and comfort. Emerica has managed to create a shoe that not only performs well but also looks great. The Hoban’s design is minimalistic yet stylish, with clean lines and a streamlined silhouette that fits well with various outfits. Its aesthetic versatility makes it a shoe that can transition easily from skatepark to casual settings. Moreover, Emerica has incorporated comfort features like a padded collar and tongue, providing support and cushioning around the ankle. Inside, the shoe has a soft, supportive insole that reduces the impact on feet and joints, making it comfortable for prolonged wear, whether skating or walking.
The Hoban shoes also reflect Emerica’s broader commitment to the skateboarding community. Emerica has a reputation for supporting grassroots skateboarding initiatives, sponsoring professional skaters, and creating high-quality products that reflect the culture and lifestyle of skateboarding. By focusing on functional, durable footwear like the Hoban, Emerica not only meets the practical needs of skaters but also contributes to the sport’s growth and accessibility. The Hoban is a product that resonates with skaters because it is made with their needs in mind, showcasing a respect for the culture and a dedication to quality that few brands can match.
In summary, the Hoban shoes by Emerica are a solid choice for skaters and casual wearers alike, blending durability, board feel, style, and comfort. They exemplify Emerica’s commitment to producing high-quality skate footwear that stands the test of time, both in terms of wear and style. With their thoughtful design and skate-specific features, the Hoban shoes represent an ideal combination of function and fashion in the world of skateboarding.

What's up bro, this is a good review. It's detailed and backed up with some damn good skating. Are you thinking of doing shoe reviews for other brands? Ipath just came back from the dead lol and I haven't seen anyone do a proper review from them. Also would like to see a review on Opus and Warsaw. Even though Warsaw just came out, Opus already been out for a year but haven't seen much detailed reviews on them.
