My suggestions for Themes/Soundtracks: - James Bond Main Theme - Friend Like Me from Aladdin Something else would be: - Havana(i know there are so many covers out there but i think it would be awesome with a Big Band and especially with your trumpet playing xD) - Boogie Wonderland from Earth, Wind & Fire - Think (Aretha Franklin, but the Blues Brothers version)
It’d be interesting if you based it on the theme of “Evolution of the Big Band”. Essentially doing new arrangements of iconic big band solo features throughout the decades. From artists such as Harry James, Doc Severinsen, Basie Band, Ellington Orchestra etc.. just an idea!
how far i’ll go from moana, may seem kind of an odd suggestion, but with a louis does swell trumpet solo during it, it would be amazing. the whole ensemble could really pull this song off, and i think this could possibly blow up your channel more
Hey Louis you've been so much fun to listen to, you've been an inspiration for my playing. I think it'd be amazing to hear your take on anything Frank Sinatra. My Way, New York, New York, Fly Me to the Moon, or things like that!
Green hornet (al hirt) Fire Dance (Allen Vizzuti) Concerto for trumpet (Harry James) Tico Tico (Zequinha abreu) Rhapsody in blue (look for the Brandon ridenour version) Live and let die (look for the Cory band version with Steve Stewart on soprano cornet) La vie en rose (Louis Armstrong) Sway with me (rosemary clooney version - listen to trumpets) Feeling good (Michael buble) As a fellow trumpet player I would love to hear your arrangements of these classics!
Would like to hear some re-harmonized jazz pieces: Caravan, Girl from Ipanema, Herb Alpert stuff, Spanish jazz, how about Debussy meets Latin jazz! Keep up the exciting work. I played the flute solo part of your game of thrones piece at a recent jazz concert with our local community college. Thanks for the inspiration. Cheers!
To be honest Louis I just loved the Disney covers you did on the first album and these work so well for the high note trumpet playing and big band. Plus they are easy listening, catchy and timeless (and haven't been done previously by the mass jazz market). There's so many more to do so maybe include a few more of these alongside a couple of old favourites like Born Free (not the over the top Maynard version please), Somewhere and Maria. The modern Broadway and West End musicals are packed with great numbers that would suit you, like: - Defying Gravity (Wicked). - Bohemian Rhapsody (Queen). - Jesus Christ Superstar. Etc, etc. Then also consider other film tracks / scores. Some of the epic films have amazing tracks that would suit you down to the ground with some relatively minor adjustments. What about a one off tribute track to Derek Watkins?? Other tracks to consider would be: - Just the way you are. - Smooth Criminal. What ever you do mate I'm sure it'll be great. Cheers
"Mandeville" Patrick Williams , "Computer" Bob Mintzer..featuring your amazing Trombone Section and esp. a big fat Bassbone and not too Maynardish as you mentioned.
Understanding that you wish to steer clear, for the time being, of Maynard, I still can't help but think that MacArthur Park would be a great fit. Central Park West as an alternative. Cheers, Louis!!
Sort of like a “Remembering the Pop Classics of the 70’s and 80’s” where you take old hits and make them your own. I think you can make some great arrangements of bands that had their own horn section, so Earth Wind and Fire, Chicago, or even stuff like Bruce Springsteen or Billy Joel. Maybe throw some older material in there too like Stan Kenton and Frank Sinatra, where there’s also a lot of potential for great arrangements. I focus on the arrangements because I know that whatever is given to you and the other musicians, you will play perfectly, so it’s all up to what you guys decide to put there.
Ai No Corrida -- Quincy Jones Eli's Coming -- 3 Dog Night Back in Love Again -- LTD recording ---- ua-cam.com/video/ZEfaGB6d-Jw/v-deo.html Treasure -- Bruno Mars You made me so very happy -- Blood, Sweat, and Tears You can call me Al -- Paul Simon (London Symphony recording -- ua-cam.com/video/XPmTedSj_nU/v-deo.html WEST SIDE STORY.... lots of medleys written by the late, great Leonard Bernstein.
Your High Score album is a set of excellent arrangements, your musicians are fine musicians and you are an incredible trumpet player. Please consider the following two suggestions. First, you should consider a Holiday album. I am sure it will have excellent response from those who admire your playing and will also open up a new market for you - avid jazz listeners who collect the holiday albums of Excellent musicians. An album similar to the Gordon Goodman, Tom Kubis, and many others. Secondly, I would not necessarily want yet another cover of a Maynard Ferguson album. Perhaps consider an album of Big Band type tunes with a twenty first century upgrade. Consider tunes such as Miles Davis' FOUR, Thad Jones' A CHILD IS BORN, Benny Golson's I REMEMBER CLIFFORD, Eubie Blake's MEMORIED OF YOU, Vernon Duke's I CAN'T GET STARTED, and then throw in a cover of Maynard's MARIA and perhaps a cover of Tower of Power's YOU'RE STILL A YOUNG MAN and ESF's FANTASY. Whatever you decide to record, I am sure it will be wonderful and I will own it and give several copies of it as gifts. Thanks for your sharing great playing. Lou
Try and do like 2018 stuffs Maybe here and there some ABBA dancing queen U know Bring back Micheal Jackson or something Think unexpected Or big I dnt know if I'm late but for future maybe. Just like u wanting to become wayne/Maynard I want to be like u. Keep it up man!
My suggestions: ~ 'In the Stone' by Earth Wind and Fire ~ 'Rhapsody in Blue.' but you take a more modern twist on it. ~ Pick out the song that inspired you to be a musician when you were younger. ~ A modern take on Chameleon. ~ 'Fantasy' by Earth Wind and Fire ~ 'Penny Lane' by The Beatles (the trumpet solo in the middle would sound incredible) ~ 'Rocket Man' by Elton John
I would suggest a salute to the great trumpet players of the past. Take signature tunes from a number of players and rearrange them for you and your band. Something by Louis, Dizzy, Harry James (Trumpet Blues would work well), Bunny Berrigan, Doc, Al Hirt and others. You could really have fun with CHERRY PINK AND APPLE BLOSSOM WHITE!!
I would say Scream Machine by Maynard Ferguson would be AMAZING. It really features the trumpet section nicely with an epic soli shout chorus. I would be so excited if you did this piece! I know it's an older cover, but it is really high energy and I think you could really knock it out of the park.
there is a piece from Rocky called Go the Distance -- if you could record that piece with all the passion and heart of Bill Conti..... you would have achieved a musical feat never met in the history of Big Band arranging - please.... make it happen.....
Spain by Chick Corea
My suggestions for Themes/Soundtracks:

Earth Wind and Fire 🔥 but really anything you do will be great 👍😂😂
It’d be interesting if you based it on the theme of “Evolution of the Big Band”. Essentially doing new arrangements of iconic big band solo features throughout the decades. From artists such as Harry James, Doc Severinsen, Basie Band, Ellington Orchestra etc.. just an idea!
i second this, a GREAT idea

Friend Like Me (Aladdin)
MarioKartGuy27 but a straight arrangement, not swing. If Louis would go closer to the original one then it would be something different
Hey Louis you've been so much fun to listen to, you've been an inspiration for my playing. I think it'd be amazing to hear your take on anything Frank Sinatra. My Way, New York, New York, Fly Me to the Moon, or things like that!

Maybe look to Post Modern Jukebox for some inspiration? What they do to recent hits with small groups, you could extend to big band levels.
