This was the first show of the competition and I'm guessing, by their reactions, that many had not heard Diana sing before. Third, she is polyphonic, which means she can produce multiple harmonics within her voice at the same time. This is what allows her to sound like two people at once. (more below) When you add all that up you basically get a person who creates her own auto-tune. She doesn't need electronic auto-tune. She IS her own auto-tune. And the effect when you hear her is totally mind-blowing. It's like she's singing right through you, like a sword straight into your soul. Literally NOBODY else on the planet has a voice like hers. She's not one in a million, she's one in eight billion.

Diana is currently studying at the Theater Institute (GITIS, Moscow) in her 3rd year. Her voice is still developing. If in the song you commented on, the range of Diana's voice was 3 octaves, now it has expanded to 4 octaves (according to Diana's teacher).
Now about mysticism in Diana's performances. 😎 At start video we saw the soft face of a young girl, and at the end - the stern face of a mature woman. Some people were scared. The show has an interesting premise. The performers are also the judges, so all the people you saw were her peers. This was the first show of the competition and I'm guessing, by their reactions, that many had not heard Diana sing before. If you can find video of the all of the shows, they are well worth watching. The level of talent was excellent and it was all highly entertaining.

Man, chills all over. She's impressive as a performer too. Her range and tone is shocking even if you've seen some of her other material - I really like "Rechenka" from a different talent show a few years back. Very dark, it showcases her "yodel" effects which she seems to have mastered to great effect.
