Humpty dudumptyyyyy…..still blasting out of my speakers in 2024… one of those songs that have been stuck in my head for nearly thirty years, and planning on keeping it that way for another 60…Long live The Polaris, and Pete & Pete.
This album has such a shimmering warmth to it. It's like riding the winds of time, to decades ago. A bygone era of suburban daydreams. Nintendo and Sega were wrestling for supremacy. Large road maps that seemed to weigh as much as a horse blanket. Nickelodeon were at their apex.
As soon as you listen to this, you can feel like if you were in a suburb on early 90s, feeling the wind from autumn under big trees at the middle of the street
Holy Holly, She don't approve at all She thinks that she's a pony Prancing in the front hall She sleeps with a saddle on Gets up and rides at dawn Nobody knows what's wrong But she can't keep her trousers on Humpty Mudumpty She's all better now She thought that she was somebody else for a while A house at the North Pole She went for her daily stroll Wearin' a wig and a mink stole, That she's the daughter of rock and roll. Ivy boy, he couldn't be trusted Feeling his face was familiar Tried to be like a monthly haul Living like a rubber ball Found himself in Montreal Ivy couldn't deal at all
The 90's shoulda lasted at least twenty more years at least. I hate that my phone says 2015. Things weren't more simple, but they sure seemed more fun. I'm glad Polaris is having something of a revival.
+Josh Ringler The world still had mystery back then. I remember everything being more interesting the sun seemed brighter too. I am almost 30 now and I feel like todays kids wont know that awesome feeling. I remember when you could talk to your friends about something and tell a story and wonder about it now people get on their phone to see if a ghost story is true it ruins everything. Lucky I still have a place that is stuck in the 90's its a state park that has camping and cabins and it still looks like it did when I was a kid. I go there a few times a year and stay a few days. When I leave its like im a new person with a brighter outlook on things. Best part is its remote enough that cellphones don't work!!!!!! There is even the last payphone
NO! Honestly things got really bland ‘96-‘03 but from ‘04 til now there is ALWAYS invigorating, exciting new things to discover and find. Tv, internet, movies, and GREAT MUSIC GALORE. After age 30 or so, people’s minds tune themselves out to new musical pleasures- that’s why they hate everything “new” (scientific fact). I’m 35 and still discovering new things I love every bit as much as this song. ***open your mind*** so many people are already missing out on so much. It’s nice to look back and appreciate and love things from our past while still being able to delve in and love new things in the present. And after we finally break the 4th dimension these trivial time related things won’t matter ✨👐🏾✨
Same here! The mini stories about individuals reminds me ‘Oh! Sweet Nothin’ by way of Lou Reed’s solo song ‘Walk on the Wild Side’. The influence was definitely strong on this. Ivy Boy is def in my top 10 favorite songs ever🙌🏾

A ride on a personal Time Machine, right to the childhood
always on the verge of tears bumping this
Sometimes I like to sneak off and listen to Polaris and disappear in suburban paradise
Holy Holly,
She don't approve at all
She thinks that she's a pony
Prancing in the front hall
She sleeps with a saddle on
Gets up and rides at dawn
Nobody knows what's wrong
But she can't keep her trousers on
Humpty Mudumpty
She's all better now
She thought that she was somebody else for a while
A house at the North Pole
She went for her daily stroll
Wearin' a wig and a mink stole,
That she's the daughter of rock and roll.
Ivy boy, he couldn't be trusted
Feeling his face was familiar
Tried to be like a monthly haul
Living like a rubber ball
Found himself in Montreal
Ivy couldn't deal at all
Even his face was an alias
I paint my life with the colors of these songs even when I'm grey or old I will still mean it
This is literally the most beautiful thing I’ve ever read on the internet
Definitely my favorite Polaris song.
One of the greatest songs of all time.
One of the greatest albums ever and also one of the best album covers of all time.

They should make a app that would have your phone kinda loon like a 90s computer

Incredible album.

This lovely and charming song makes me think of what the Smiths would have sounded like if they had been Yanks and way more quirkier.
I would cry but im Artie
This one always reminded me of a Velvet Underground tune.
Which one?
Same here! The mini stories about individuals reminds me ‘Oh! Sweet Nothin’ by way of Lou Reed’s solo song ‘Walk on the Wild Side’. The influence was definitely strong on this. Ivy Boy is def in my top 10 favorite songs ever🙌🏾
