Tips for Playing Fast Latin Rhythms on the Drum Set

Here is a video about playing fast Latin rhythms on the drum set. Many drummers struggle with these tempos because of the physical nature of the technique involved in playing these types of grooves.
I show you five different strategies for dealing with these issues as well as exercises to work on. All of the playing examples in this video come from my book Advanced Coordination for Drum Set and Hand Percussion

Absolutely amazing. I was trying to find this forty five years ago. And you are wearing Merrells. A hiking shoe that is best suited for going up mountains. I know because I live in Washington State. I practice with them just because that's what I have and its like wearing weights on your feet. I guess that completely blows apart any thought that it depends on what shoe you wear to play. It's all technique.

Yes, they are Merrells, my favorite hiking shoe. I walk about 5 miles a day in them, so they are very comfortable.
The shoe never really mattered much to me at all. It's a matter of the way you move your foot.
