The harmony between the loco and the nature is wonderful. This is the most elegant and well balanced loco among others designed by Gresley and even in the whole world.
Excellent video of a very beautiful steam engine. Somehow more aesthetically pleasing than Flying Scotsman, she looks every inch a man-made version of a racehorse. So graceful, so powerful, one of Gresley's finest locomotives.
my uncle drove green arrows...he said it was his favourite loco better than any pacific..but it must have a double chimney..he got moved to the L.M.S & loved scots, jubilees,& black 5s
I don't think Green Arrow is coming back for at least 5 years. The smokebox bottom was gashed by the middle cylinder as it jerked upwards out of place. This also cracked the cylinder front to back. Costs a lot to repair the damage, same price as F. Scotman's restoration apparently. Hopefully, they'll eventually get the V2 steaming up again.
nice video and I was amused to see the intro text "last year" because it reminded me of an old real foto picture postcard with a family group shown - on the back was this "all of us last year' :)
When Green Arrow was a regular main line performer, she was regularly voted by footplate crews as their favourite. She could tackle anything. I've always said 'forget the glamour of the Pacifics - the V2s were Gresley's masterpiece'. And I stand by that statement still.
@@harold5337 not likely to ever happen im afraid. Because of a botched rebuild in the 80s to keep her running. Mallard has permanent damage that'll cost the earth to repair.
Absolutely brilliant to see these living breathing machines doing what they do best, having them sitting on display in some shed is a waste, the rail network would be a hell of a lot busier if the train companies hired these big engines in to do the work of these boring electric trains, I'm almost sure they would run at a profit with ease, and still have plenty money spare to look after the Locomotives
Sounds good...but today's Liberals don't even want to see people "Vape" let alone allow a giant Machine like this burning anything ....Coal is a Liberal's Enemy now just like Gender is....
To bmxrider13: Yeah, I wish I could ride an old STEAM TRAIN for the experience, and if possible, to purchase a railroad and own a WELL TANK train, the one with four wheels, but I'm gonna need a WHOLE LOTTA MONEY... *Whirr*
@bmxrider13 Sadly its because most Americans are Automobile fanatics, to be blunt they don't give a Sh*t and see an obstetrical blocking the road, hence why many American railfans are seen as crazy because they like trains. Its sad, mostly only young children and the dwindling elderly population who were around when steam ruled the rails are interested. its hard to find Teen Railfans.
Green Arrow LAST YEAR !!!! LAST YEAR?????? That is only relevant if you told us WHICH YEAR YOU ARE STARTING FROM ?????? What is WRONG with the UA-cam community? Can NOBODY even put an accurate DATE on their posts ..... NOT when they posted it ....... but WHEN THE EVEN ACTUALLY HAPPENED!!!!!

I know I'm quite randomly asking but do anyone know a good site to watch newly released movies online ?

Very good video. Always liked the Green Arrow and a very good performer on the mainline excursions. Thanks for posting.
Great locomotive! For me, for all-round performance, this was Gresley's finest design, P2's, A3's and A4's included.

Beautiful. Especially hauling the teak coaches in the second-to-last clip.
Great video of a great loco. Hope to see 4771 back in action some day.
wow, she sure can put on an excellent show of sound and steam

If there's any locomotive that I wan't to see running again, its Green Arrow. Good video.
great shame to see green arrow now retiring from service for the last time

Wish they'd put this on the mainline im fed up with 'Flying Scotsman' and 'Tornado'!
Put Mallard on the mainline too. The worlds fastest engine needs to be seen in action,

Really miss her running! ;(
It'll probably never run again, cracked monobloc cylinder casting.
john fellows , time will tell.

What engine is Green Arrow with when pulling the coaches at the 0:44 mark?
B1 Mayflower.
i saw the restauration in york a few yrs ago
There is/was a Green Arrow, which ran in the Southern part of England.
No, GoldenArrow and it was the name of the train not a locomotive.
I did not know about the damage to GA. I do now however.
What a shame!

5 beats and a sneeze, listen?
Why the chuf/sneeze?
Three-cylinder out of sync sound. In extremis, try 'in service' recordings in the 1960s...
in the first clip we see Green Arrow double headding a train.
what is the other locomotive and what class is it?
many thanks
She makes herself heard thumbs up if you agree

yeh now the flying Scotsman has burnt more holes in the budget I don't disagree with you I hope she is to
hey it kinda looks like Flying Scotsman but only smaller
Kinda same size, 3.5 ft shorter to be exact.
Is V2 gordon? From Thomas and friends?
No, Gordon is an a1 (the same type as flying scotsman before it got converted to an a3)
Nice!
were is green arrow know?
Nrm
She is at York
@benjokazooie B1 Mayflower
she will in 2 - 3 years she isnt running due to a valve.

Or could it be that UA-cam isn't showing the date, I will ask nobody when I see him.
Of course you could simply look at "green arrows last day"
I took it as being the last year green arrow ran before being withdrawn from service, which would be 2008 I think.
If u think u can do better then try but u ain't got alt on you channel
Presumably NOT her last year before being taken off the main line, as she finished her days in BR livery as 60800…
