I used to work at a body shop. Take a spray bottle and put dish soap and water in it. Spray the areas of plastic trim to make them slick where they are held on with tabs such as that big piece under the headlights in the video. I’m telling you, it makes life SO much easier. Also anywhere you are applying double sided tape. Always clean the surface really well and used adhesive promoter on the plastic pieces that the tape is touching. People often wonder why their double sided tape pieces won’t stay like factory. That’s why. Use adhesive promoter.
Hey bud. Shoot us an email at info@fastheadlights.com. If you have emailed in the past two weeks we may have missed it. We accidentally messed up our email settings when we rolled out our new website a few weeks ago. Lol. Ill look for your email. Thanks!
Dude, I just want to thank you. I tried some LED turn lamps on my '17 Sierra. The wedges that should be grabbed by the springs inside the fixture were about 0.6 mm smaller than the stock glass bulb. It fell out inside the housing. If it were not for this video I probably would still be staring at my front bumper trying to figure out how to remove my headlight housing. Thank you again!
@brocktonma.1816 I wish I could sent pics through replies, essentially it's that black plastic trim piece along the top of the wheel well , and that color matched front trim piece that runs along the bottom of the grill. If you have Facebook I can sent you pictures of it. Overall easy install I did both headlights.
2 questions. Why did GM make changing headlight bulbs such a pain in the ass and why haven't they had a recall on the useless and inadequate headlights they installed?
Dielectric grease is NON conductive meaning it resists electrical flow. If you want to use a grease to help promote good contact and prevent corrosion use either a silver or carbon based grease. The only thing Dielectric will do is help prevent corrosion. In most cases dielectric won't hurt anything given you have good metal to metal contact and it is used sparingly but it's still much better to use something that is meant to encourage electrical flow.
Trying to figure out why you took the hole front of your truck apart when you can get to the back of the headlight housing on the driver side and can remove the air box on the passenger side to do the same thing. Am I missing something?
I purchased the TRS kit as well and will be installing this weekend. Looking forward to being able to see at night. Compenent quality looks outstanding. To be clear, can the HID install be done by simply removing the airbox, or do I have to blow the front end apart for access? I'm installing the same parts as you did in the video. Thank you for such great detail and camera work. Looks a bit tedious but pretty straight forward. Thanks again
NICE VIDEO!! what's the brand of the HID kit you installed? are you going to make another video with the HID on? I've watched other video that requires to cut a hole on the cover where the bulb goes.
What GMC emblem did you install? All the ones I have seen require you to drill through the stock one and the rivets that hold it in place. I would really like to avoid drilling through the stock one if possible. Thanks.
+Devin Ramirez No you no not have to, you can install just the bulbs wiring harness and ballasts. However just like most things the projector itself is just 'factory'. If you look up close to a Mercedes or Lexus projector you will see a difference compared to stock GMC etc.
where did you buy the hid kit and does they come with the relay I've been having alot of trouble to make both work since just one turns on while the other one just turns on whenever it feels like it lol
this is just unbelievable!!!!!!!!! I'm telling you the easiest way is to take the engine out, that way you have a lot more room to play with!!!!!!! you guys created a huge project out of this!!!!!!!! why just tell me why?????
Pavel Pavenko Go ahead and make a video bro and show us all how to take headlights out without doing what we did. Lol. Let me know when you get that video done. You don't have to take headlights out to do an HID conversion but we did more to the headlights so taking them out was necessary.
Damn, I just want to change my turns to leds. What a pile of crap to remove... What would a shop charge? I'm lazy as F and I paid a damn fortune for diode dynamics leds....
Damn it’s a job and a half doing shit to these trucks. I remember when I had my 04 F150, all I had to do was open the hood, take off the shroud and take off 3 bolts for each headlight. Everything has to be so complicated now.
That kit is ridiculous how many connections are there really? I wouldn't install that kit if it was free, no wonder why 98% of installer errors are with the connection. That kit sucks!

These guys are wizards at retrofitting headlights...don't reply to emails but based on their pictures they seem really good.

Nathan Myron you are very welcome. Glad or helped!
Thank you for the video. Someone smashed my left side headlight and needed to replace it with a new one I bought.
Were you able to replace it just taking that side of trim etc off? Thanks.

i have opt7 hid kit and I didnt even use a wire harness to the battery true plug and play nice video

Why didn't you remove the engine as well??
lol. we removed the headlights to install new projectors and paint the lights. if it were just hids it would be simple

Good video, I just got my sierra spec HID's from TRS, and I am gonna be making my own video as well.
Make sure you check your audio.
This is a huge help.
I just wish I knew somebody help me with mine...
Thanks for making this video! Your the man!
Thats a real pain removing that grill on the 2015,my 2004 silverado takes 2 minutes to remove the grill
Great instruction! Truthfully, I’m NOT looking forward to removing my stock lights so that I can do the 1500 series LED headlamp Conversion :(

we customized the headlights. paint and upgraded fxr projectors. since we were working on it we decided to document the hid install
it's because he did a bunch of shit other than swap out a bulb, jackass.
Maybe removal of fenders would be beneficial also 😂

Great video 👍🏾

Thanks man. This helped me a lot!
Love my heated Bosch jacket!
whats all those extra wires for you adding to headlights. seems like a very big project
that is the wiring harness that comes with the kit.

email me at info@fastheadlights.com. I have one
Did you HAVE to install a new projector to connect the HIDs? How is the factory style projector with a 35w HID?
+Devin Ramirez No you no not have to, you can install just the bulbs wiring harness and ballasts. However just like most things the projector itself is just 'factory'. If you look up close to a Mercedes or Lexus projector you will see a difference compared to stock GMC etc.
Still waiting on Rep30 Custom NNBS GMC Sierra tutorial video :(.
in order to remove the headlight, you have to remove the grill?
Did you have that grille painted black or did it come like that.
where did you buy the hid kit and does they come with the relay I've been having alot of trouble to make both work since just one turns on while the other one just turns on whenever it feels like it lol
SHOULD HAVE SHOWN HOW TO MODIFY THE HOUSING AND DUST COVER TO GET WIRES OUT
this is just unbelievable!!!!!!!!! I'm telling you the easiest way is to take the engine out, that way you have a lot more room to play with!!!!!!! you guys created a huge project out of this!!!!!!!! why just tell me why?????

at least we saw how they look turned on
What the harness name

great video, you can't hear then it would have been great
Damn this is full with cheap plastic details.
That kit is ridiculous how many connections are there really? I wouldn't install that kit if it was free, no wonder why 98% of installer errors are with the connection. That kit sucks!
Geez, fucking ridiculous. All that just to switch the headlights.... can’t wait to try on my 2015. 😩😆
Can't hear anything.
A higher sound level would have helped, and making sure you're not in the way of the camera would have helped too.
19 minutes of my life wasted. This video is not on just replacing factory halogen w HID lights!
