Deeptitai toh divine hain hi, accompanying artiste, Aman Warkhedkar ji, bhi ekdum kamaal aur qaabil-e-taareef hain! Deeptitai's fascination for and interest in Urdu was lovely and heartwarming to hear. I am someone who has grown up with Hindi and Urdu around them, and they always seemed normal and at times, even ordinary to me. But I can appreciate them being awe-inspiring for the rest of us. I have a similar fascination for what is relatively 'new' to me, i.e., Marathi and Bangla, esp Marathi with its exquisite variants of ज, झ, च and the unique ळ!

The magnitude of sheer brilliance in HFM from the late 40s to the late sixties leaves many a music lover more than saturated to bother listening to anything thereafter, of course to his own peril as I have been discovering. Khayyamsaab's is a classic (and perhaps solitary) case of a composer who created melodies right through the golden era but almost everything apart from the peerless फिर सुबह होगी went largely unheralded and most of the Khayyam legacy revolves around his work in the 70s and 80s. Had heard this a few times before but had never struck me that the मतला is missing in the song which otherwise reads and sounds like a गझल. A trifle surprising that Khayyamsaab chose to do so, but film music has its own grammar and an erudite composer would have surely had more than a good reason for doing so. Now knowing that you love Urdu, eagerly awaiting to listen to some Sahir songs from you 😊
Deepti Madam, Yesterday i heard Song from Baapjnam,,,for a first time,,,later on after search, i got to know its your voice, Mi mazy feelings sangu shakt nahi pn skali Gauri(Mywife) shi boltana mi tila mhtal "Song ratri Aikt hoto pn avaj aikun as vatl ki Sakal Zaliy" its truly refreshing and please continue practicing. Very beautifully sung. Thanks. Almost all Ghazals would have that spiritual angle. The poet might apparently be writing in praise of his/her lover but like Amir Khusro or Mirabai, his love might also be for that supreme power. The tradition of Sufi and Bhakti continues with these poets.
