Disability certificate for organic diseases

For the last informative capsule of this year we have invited Claudia López, social worker of "Coordinadora Federació Balear de Persones amb Discapacitat" to talk about the certificate of disability, the scales that are used to grant it and the aids that a person who has been granted it can apply for.
Organic diseases may be seemingly invisible, but they entail many complications and treatment time that should be recognised by public administrations through the disability certificate.
According to Claudia, the assessment scale that came into force in April 2023 already includes the item of pain suffered by the person. On the other hand, this scale also takes into account the social and economic situation of the family of the person applying for this disability certificate, which is why in some cases the previously granted degree is being revoked.
In terms of studies, Claudia tells us that, in addition to the general scholarships for the whole society, there is a scholarship from the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training for students with special needs with a minimum of 33% disability (www.becaseducacion.gob.es/bec..., whose requirements are different from the general ones.
One of the differences is the academic factor which, in the case of these scholarships, requires attendance at 50% of the classes and not 50% of the credits passed.
These grants can be applied for in the following studies, according to the 2023-2024 call for applications:
a) Early Childhood Education.
b) Primary Education.
c) Compulsory Secondary Education.
d) Baccalaureate.
e) Intermediate and Higher Level Training Cycles.
f) Professional Artistic Education.
g) Basic Level Training Cycles.
h) Training programmes for the transition to adult life.
i) Other vocational training programmes referred to in the fourth additional provision of Royal Decree 127/2014, of 28 February.
