As a man in my mid 20s, I can't get more than 10s into a Mr.Beast video without wanting to go somewhere else. The concepts don't interest me and the pacing feels forced. Coffee is doing a great job, it's just for a different audience
He's not saying to make his whole video hyperactive and aggressive, but there's this thing called marketing and even if you are delivering a quality product you have to know how to sell it properly. Like Jimmy said he needs to assure the viewers at the beginning(not all viewers are coffee's "hyper aware patient and intelligent fans") what he is delivering to them.
@@jaidenavery7118 So many overly proud adults in the comments are misunderstanding the point here. He isn't telling coffee to replicate his style that is suited for younger audiences, but suggesting a brief restructure of the contents of his videos to help retain viewers. And it seems like whether coffee saw this or not, a similar concept has been applied in the Logan Paul exposé as well. Coffeezilla’s content is 1000 times more interesting than Mr. Beast. To me, an adult. Beast makes kids content. Coffeezilla is geared towards adults with better attention spans. I’ve never clicked a Coffeezilla video and felt like the video didn’t match the title.
ngl the content coffeezilla makes is something i play in the background sort of like how some people let the TV run in the background for the noise, except i listen to it intently while doing chores or while doing some other thing that doesn't require me to have all my focus to it.
Yes, Coffee obviously attracts an older audience. However, it's routinely young people who fall prey to increasingly popular influencer crypto scams. This is good advice for getting the people who need his videos most of all in front of them.
Kids don't have credit cards or bank accounts usually. And if you're stupid enough as a parent to let your child purchase whatever they want, you deserve to be scammed.
Great, you've found a niche! If you make videos geared at younger people with shorter attention spans debunking crypto scams you might get a lot of views and make an impact. That doesn't mean coffeezilla will, or should, change his style
Because people are scared of change. The worst part is it doesn’t even have to feel dramatic. It takes 2 seconds and a half to mention what you are talking about. Plus, this is a very standard way to write a paper, do an essay, do a title. It’s literally the introduction. So if everyone is as “adult” as they feel, they would have realized this long ago
Seriously, it's honestly kinda basic. Has anybody seen a Shadiversity video in a while? He starts by restating the question, then just rambles forever about one weapon or piece of armor with no structure or pacing.

I am a 28 year old Coffeezilla fan and have a much longer attention span than my 4 and 6 year old nephew and niece who love watching MrBeast. Very different audiences.
Different audiences, same problem. Coffee himself has said that without a strong intro he often sees heavy dropoff in the first minute, hence why he asked Beast the question in the first place. All said and done putting your thesis first is a standard and advisable way to structure an argument. And especially with all the clickbait around its important to let people know you are going to deliver. Adults generally dont have masses of free time so the more time spent wasted on clickbait the less time i have to watch actually good content.
Except he still does it, and it works, so why does it matter if Mr. Beast said it or not? Also, try to tell me that you can get someone to sit down and watch a Dan Olsen video essay just off the first five minutes. just because somebody isn’t throwing around thousands upon thousands of dollars for clout, does not mean they aren’t keeping somebody’s attention. When you’re not 12, you don’t need constant stimulation to stay interested in something.
MrBeast giving kids the example of throwing money around like it's candy will lead to more content for coffeezilla later on, as these kids who learn to admire this approach to wealth and finance will definitely fall into the hands of scammers. Basically there's a cynical synergy here.

Mr Beast is correct. If you go in already agreeing with coffeezilla you are more inclined to watch it to prove your point, but there’s also people who don’t agree with him and will be put off about going off topic. It’s not even demographic, it’s about organizing your argument and being clear about what you are saying. They teach this stuff in the college English courses they force you to take.
Always bothers me how people can’t fathom how hooking in an audience work. If someone new watches your video chances are slight improvements ( yes improvements) like confirming that your videos are not clickbait are essential. I’ve seen too many videos that take way to long to get to the point. I can watch a 5 hour podcast if I’m getting what I’m reviving from the title in the first minute. I’m not going to waste a minute listening to you summarizing what I already know.
Its really interesting to hear this take, and I feel it comes down to difference in audiences. Mr Beast I believe has a younger audience, and so what he is discussing here makes sense! But for his demographic. I can personally say it doesn’t work on me, and in fact it feels better when the title and thumbnail aren’t repeated in the beginning because it just feels repetitive. Though I can understand actual clickbait of the title saying something different, and the content not matching up to it, in my experience Coffeezilla is pretty good with that sort of thing. Overall, i dont think this advice needs the push back this comment section is giving, we just need to recognize that these are different approaches and different audiences, and at the end of the day, Mr Beast’s advice is just that: advice.
The problem here is that not everyone is you. If you look at actual numbers of his viewer retention you'll see a lot of people stop watching before the end. There could be a few reasons for that such as a slow start to a video, not addressing the focal points early enough, or just people typically not caring as much as they originally thought they did. It's a fact that dynamic content engages viewers better and keeps them around longer. Jimmy is just trying to give him some advice and examples of how to use dynamic marketing for his videos

All the people here arrogantly ignoring the advice of probably one of the most poised audience manipulators don’t even realize that Coffee followed his advice. Look at his thumbnails, titles and intros after the advice is given. These snobs understand „four hour podcasts on hard science“ (literally what one guy said) but don’t understand that UA-cam is a numbers game at the end of the day. MrBeast‘s advice is unsurprisingly sound
Kind of hilarious that the folks that claim to be "intellectually superior adults with a higher attention span" are acting like the most salty people on the planet just from very basic advice on mantaining viewer retention. As if you can't make high-quality informational videos and mantain high engagement without being misleading or jingling keys. Presentation is everything, it's how super niche videos like "The man who faked an element" by BobbyBroccoli, which is an hour long documentary about the history of physics, get a ton of engagement. The visuals on that are mindblowing. The first minute keeps your attention by getting straight to the topic and the next 5 minutes hooks you in. That is exactly what MrBeast talks about here. And without sacrificing any of the integrity of the video. And as you said, Coffeezilla followed his advice, and it's already paying off. His 3 new Logan Paul videos got a ton of engagement and netted him a ton of subscriber growth.

All these dudes complaining about this advice because Coffee fans are “adults.” Adults can have ADHD, or get bored, or decide that a video isn’t worth their time just like children can. This is objectively good advice, and you’ll notice that Coffee has implemented it heavily.
Coffee even specifically asked the question about viewer retention too, so obviously it's something he thinks about and wants to improve on. Like you said, stating your thesis up front to let viewers know you are delivering on your promise is just good advice when structuring a video.
I'm an adult with ADHD. Repeating the thing I just read in the thumbnail is not the way to keep my attention. Mr Beast clearly knows a lot about the youtube alogorithm and I'm not going to be salty if Coffee tries out this structure, though I'll be a little sad if that means no more noir detective style intros. But this is not an ADHD accommodation
@@aimhrialta I also have ADHD but I think you’re missing the point. The question isn’t how to accommodate ADHD people the question is how to increase viewer retention, and what Mr. Beast suggests is extremely good advice to do that. My point is that the people acting smug about watching Coffeezilla instead of MrBeast are literally watching videos made with his advice in mind. As I mentioned he has implemented this in many of his videos since, it’s just good technique. For the record I don’t watch MrBeast at all but all of the enlightened souls in the comments section here to prove that they are above these basic attention grabbing techniques are just proving that they’re silly

I can KIND OF understand where Mr. Beast is coming from. If I click on a 10 minute video about a North Korean war and 2 minutes are the intro, another minute and a half is a sponsor, and then the prelude to the war takes another 1-2 minutes, I'll check out. Grabbing the audience's attention as quick as possible IS important. However, there are much more creative ways of doing so than repeating the title every time. Different audiences = different hooks.
That's why ads are usually done in the middle or near The end even though they mention the sponsor at the beginning.... Coffee doesn't even do sponser shit just good content
Yeah, this advice is basically just saying that when writing an essay put your thesis at the front so people know what to expect. Overall good advice from Beast.
he isn’t saying to put the title neccessarly, this is a short 10 second part….but he means from the getgo mentioning something related to the video. I’ll give you an example….you click a video on the korean war and we start by talking about japanese culture….maybe we are getting towards the korean war part but since you’re a new viewer you don’t know that yet…how likely are you to stay after watching 5 videos that doesn’t meet your expectation…… That’s the point he was making. Honestly seeing comments like yours shows why you can’t listen to commentors because they don’t know what’s best as they have this “side based” mindset.
Honestly I didn't even know that Mr Beast existed, until a few months ago, and only because only other people talked about him, I been using UA-cam for 10 years, almost every day I use it, and the fact that UA-cam has never recommended me Mr Beast talks about my taste within the algorithm, so while yeah, Mr Beast is super big and knows how the algorithm works and how to engage kids and teenagers, but really, Coffeezilla really doesn't need this, actually I think it will hurt his videos.
For all the "mature adult viewers of coffeezilla with amazing attention spans" you're really missing the point. HE'S NOT TALKING ABOUT YOU. You're already regular viewers and clearly enjoy the content. When someones looking for a video on a specific topic and you're presented with hundreds, you're not going to watch them all of them start to finish and you're most likely not just going to settle on the first video UNLESS its clear that its exactly what you're looking for. You're going to bounce around a little, and that's when this advice becomes effective in growing your subscriber base
Coffeezilla doesn't have a chance of attracting younger audiences though. He's a channel about financial crimes and scams. No 9 year old will watch that.
@@icedcat4021Doesnt matter. As an adult the point above still stands. If I want to learn about a topic i'm often presented with dozens of videos. I cant watch them all so i'll click on one and if in 1-2 mins it doesnt seem like it's really delivering on it's promises i'll click over to the next. Put your thesis up front. Very common advice on how to structure an essay or piece of content.
The assumption is that everyone is a low IQ child with a short attention span. But not everyone is, there are people who like long form intellectual content.
To all the dumbasses in the comment section talking about how coffeezilla's audience is older/more mature hush and pay attention to what mrbeast is saying. Videos get recommended to people who aren't familiar with a creators content, so they don't know what to expect from a video. Mrbeast is teaching coffeezilla how to maintain the attention of a new demographic.
Coffeezilla specifically asked this question and afterwards responded by saying that he often falls into the trap of not putting together a hard hitting intro and as a result will often see viewer dropoff. So yeah, I think Coffee is probably more qualified to talk on this than his fans.
@@mikestanmore2614Yeah and your opinion is trash. Most viewers won’t be loyal fans who have watched many of his videos. It’s about making the video interesting enough for the rest of the viewers. Plus this is a very normal thing to do in any essay, any article….anything. Literally it’s called an intro.
Sure, Mr. Beast has a point. But Coffeezilla's videos are great nonetheless. More importantly, Coffeezilla's videos are mostly watched by people who don't really care about the point that Mr. Beast is making at all 👌 I've always left satisfied after Coffeezilla's videos - satisfied with the content and with the way he delivers that content.
"Coffeezilla's videos are mostly watched by people who don't really care about the point that Mr. Beast is making at all" The thing to keep in mind though is that Coffee himself asked the question about viewer retention and responsed after that he often sees retention drop when he doesnt put together a strong intro. So yeah, Coffeezillas viewers do care about a well constructed intoduction and thesis, as confirmed by Coffee himself.
Lol you have no idea what you are talking about. You leave satisfied because you know him….most viewership isn’t by subscribers though….and they need a reason to stay. They DO CARE about that point….no one wants to watch a video that doesn’t keep their interest.
I somewhat disagree with the top comments here. While kids have lower attention spans, adults tend to have less time on their hands and so are more picky with how they spend it. I.e. if they think their time will be wasted, then they’re more likely to click away
I don't think Coffee "needs" to do this for his existing audience but it'd definitely help retain new members. Maybe an intro with a very brief rundown of the main bits so every video doesn't start off with Coffee parroting the video title plus, "and today I'm going to tell YOU why!!"
Regardless of different demographics, it makes perfect sense to take Mr Beast's advice seriously. His achievements are no joke and he seriously knows what he's doing.
People really underestimate how many of coffies fans are children, even the most serious of channels have a massive demographic for kids because not all kids are little stupid people with short attention spans
Mr Beast is like "what you really want to do to make money is pick your favourite Fortnite dances and have people do them for money, that'd what people want" like his audience isn't half the age of Coffee's
Everyone's talking about how it's low attention span people that will dip out immediately, but be honest, if y'all clicked on a vid and it seemed clickbaity, y'all tryna tell me you aren't leaving? Cuz i know i would
How does mr beast saying just give the viewers what they want to see turn into a age thing? He is not telling him to make a mrbeast video. The irony is that recently coffeezilla started following these and growing faster.
Coffeezilla's target audience is adults, not kids and teens who can't pay attention longer than 20 seconds before going "BORED NOW, THIS IS NOT WHAT I EXPECTED!!!!"
While the advice really works for a wider audience, I don't think the audience wanting to learn about scams in crypto and finance are going to care that much. You come for the info, and stay for Stephen. He's great
What's funny is the difference in the comments on this short and your video. What's not funny is that you give a podium to a guy who cons impressionable kids into maximised engagement to increase his ad revenue, going so far to consistently employ what's nothing more than monetised poverty voyeurism.
See it really depends on the content you make. MrBeasts content is catered to a younger audience. The premise of his videos are all very similar. Win challenge and get money. There’s a lot that goes into that behind the scenes but surface level it’s simple for the consumer to watch. Coffee’s content starts with a question and leads to a conclusion in the end. It’s like an essay but in a fun video format. You are following along with coffee to finding the truth. Both are successful at what they do just that you can’t really apply the same formula to different genres.
You are showing how little you know. Rule 101 of writing an essay, having a good intro that should talk about what your essay is going to be about. Do you know what you do? Exactly what he is saying. Reading this comments it just shows that the community wants only bad things for coffee…literally trying to make him lose viewerships because they rather he not take any advice
If a group of people keep insisting they are mature then odd's are they probably arent. The response to this short from the Coffee community is anything but mature.
I mean this is just pretty simple marketing for short form content. People used to do that all the time, before it became a tradition for UA-cam essayists to have a five minute preamble about something tangentially related to the video title.
So many old people in the comments that think they are above basic mental tricks like this. Most the comments are just the same coping that people who are "not affected by ads" do.
mfs saying coffeezilla's audience are adults is just over exaggerating shit, sure they have decent attention span but based of his edits and comment section, i'm pretty sure it's teen & older not full grown men 😐

I do however check Coffeezilla’s channel regularly to see if he’s posted - because it’s always high quality content and I never waste my time. I always learn something interesting and useful! People really need to be more mindful with how they spend their time on UA-cam IMO. It’s too easy to get sucked into wasting your time watching low quality content. Because of the content Coffeezilla puts out, it's actually much better that he starts out the videos the way he does. He's past the point of hooking people constantly with flashy things. People watch his videos because they're genuinely curios about the story and how it got to the point where it's at.
Y'all talking shit about this advice when coffee actually does say something along the lines of "this crypto rug was worth a billion dollars and we're going to explore what led to the pull" at the beginning of videos. This is definitely one time where Jimmy has shown he really doesn't explore much content outside of what worked for him
Coffeezilla's target audience is adults, not kids and teens who can't pay attention longer than 20 seconds before going "BORED NOW, THIS IS NOT WHAT I EXPECTED!!!!"

Mr.beast needs to go away
Genuine people in this comment section that have not uploaded a video in their life thinking they're smarter than mrbeast lmao
White people in a nutshell
We got a lotta people in here not realizing Mr. Beast is right.
Coffeezilla's audience already know how he rolls. And probably isn't created for just children.
If he sticks towards the same audience, dedicated for only "OGs" he will have a more difficult time to grow.
Coffezilla fans in the comments giving awards to themselves.
Coffeezilla*
I see none of them giving them selves awards, if your offended because his audience is more mature that's on you.
So your advice is to structure things like a cookie cutter middle-school essay
This aged perfectly!
Coffe has more mature fan base than mr.beast
If a group of people keep insisting they are mature then odd's are they probably arent. The response to this short from the Coffee community is anything but mature.
I mean this is just pretty simple marketing for short form content. People used to do that all the time, before it became a tradition for UA-cam essayists to have a five minute preamble about something tangentially related to the video title.
And yet, strangely, I watch loads of Coffeezilla content and zero Mr Beast.
given i have never clicked once on one of your videos but i'm a subscriber to Coffeezilla, i think you know where i think you can stick your advice.
Good for you, then you would know that coffee interviewed him and this was his answer
So many old people in the comments that think they are above basic mental tricks like this. Most the comments are just the same coping that people who are "not affected by ads" do.
As an adult I think this is good advice, idk why ppl r dunking on him. Coffee can incorporate this in some of his bigger/important vids.
mfs saying coffeezilla's audience are adults is just over exaggerating shit, sure they have decent attention span but based of his edits and comment section, i'm pretty sure it's teen & older not full grown men 😐
For some people, content making is an art and it’s fun. For others it is a business.
Coffeezilla actually has EXTREMELY good viewer retention. Both on views and through the videos themselves.
I don’t watch Jimmy’s videos. Never have. Just the titles and thumbnails aren’t something that I want to spend my time on.
(I’m not saying I’m better than anyone else though; I also have to make a conscious effort to stay on track)
Because of the content Coffeezilla puts out, it's actually much better that he starts out the videos the way he does. He's past the point of hooking people constantly with flashy things. People watch his videos because they're genuinely curios about the story and how it got to the point where it's at.
This sounds like advice for Logan.
Giving unsolicited advice when your whole business model is "Just how out of touch are rich people?"
You know you have a problem when I can't watch anything Mr. Beast and not think it's some kind of AI BS.
Comments section aged like milk. This is what coffee does now to almost all videos.
Exactly, and It works. Coffee literally asked for this advice and took it on board.
Y'all talking shit about this advice when coffee actually does say something along the lines of "this crypto rug was worth a billion dollars and we're going to explore what led to the pull" at the beginning of videos. A thesis statement is actually important in any discussion of a topic, and that's essentially what Mr. Beast is talking about. You're not cool or mature or whatever the hell you think you are just for disliking the guy, and acting like this is bad advice just because you don't like him or think it's not important to begin a research presentation with "this is what we're talking about and what the stakes are" is more childish than what you claim Mr beast's audience is.
funny because I hate Mr Beast's video thumbnails because it always has his exaggerated face. I also know that I'm not his target audience
MrBeast's target age group is generally teens who now thanks to tiktok have the attention span of 2 seconds. It's valid info but there's more to it then that.
Yeah, he don’t need your childish videos. Coffeezilla knows his audience
Comments don’t get that this is advice for bringing in new people, if you’re already his fan, you’re gonna watch, noone cares about you lol
