Quick note… I’m aware that the Alaska/Hawaiian merger has moved forward, however due to losing my voice I couldn’t add that to the video, so consider this the note from the editor. Thanks yall!
This channel is becoming better and more informative than the other airline-travel channels (The worst being the egos, that are Carhill's and Chui's channels). Keep it up ....and you'll easily get to the top!
I love watching your channel grow Patrick, you're one of my favorites in this genre! You've got your presentation style down PAT and packed with information.
Back in the 80’s, I flew United’s (back when they were fantastic) BOS to HNL more than a few times. If I recall, they tagged that as their Flight #1. Made for a looong day.
Thank you Patrick for sharing a great flight here.😊 The seat looked nice in the laying down position and having your legs on an angle alittle bit. And the separate pull up partition divider is very nice for those of us who still are working going on vacation. I an glad ypu enjoyed there meal services as well. Nice service!😊 And yes stay in touch with your First Officer Pilot friend from college also! That was very nice to see him and to saying hi to him.😊😊
If you are curious, the longest domestic flight is Air france between CDG and Saint-Denis, an island off the coast of Africa. It's 9,380km and takes just over 11 hours on a 77W.
That is the current longest. The longest overall was also "in France" from Tahiti's Faa'a International Airport to CDG. It's 15,715 kilometres (9,765 mi; 8,485 nmi) taking approximately 16 hours and 20 minutes. Air Tahiti Nui was forced into doing this route during Covid because they couldn't land in the US.
Flew Hawaiian FC PHX to LIH via HNL We loved it. Service and food outstanding. Yes concerned about the merger with AS. Anticipate service levels will drop. And HA employees may suffer. Historically as you pointed out promises made aren’t often honored. Look at the promises AA made to TWA employees with take over. Thousands furloughed. Not recalled for years. Might not be as drastic with the AS HA merger. Probably not 🤞 Great vlog as always. Mahalo.
Hawaiian is the BEST airline to the Islands from the mainland. The A330 is GREAT! Prior to the A330, I flew their 767 service. I've ONLY EVER flown Hawaiian to the Islands from the West Coast (Oregon & California) but even if I STILL lived in NYC; I'm SURE I'd STILL ONLY fly Hawaiian from JFK or EWR to the Islands as well. Flying Hawaiian just puts you on: "Island Time" and REALLY STARTS your time there off RIGHT...........❤️😎🌺🌴
I'm glad you got to take this flight, Patrick, because once the merger is complete the 332's will likely be disposed of as more 787's join the fleet, and long-haul widebody Hawaii routes will likely be the first to go with all Hawaiian traffic to be funneled through Alaska's hubs at SEA and SFO.
That is pure conjecture - 332 wide bodies will continue to fly to major West Coast destinations. Traffic will not be funneled through SEA or SFO (not really as AS hub) on a wide body and then transferred to a narrow body to Phoenix, Boston, or anywhere else.
This is my exact flight flying business class from Logan to Honolulu on Hawaiian Airlines A330. First time in business and first time to Hawaii. I am hoping Hawaiian Airlines business class lives up to the hype. The only thing i don't like even though i have a window seat in 3A is sharing it with someone else. I wish it was a single pod as some business classes offer. I know the new 787-9 that they are rolling out soon will have this new updated business class seating arrangement. For now they are catering to more couples traveling together than focusing on solo travelers. But i think the 787-9 will remedy that.
What a GREAT VIDEO Patrick! I loved it however you’ll have to try their new B787 product sometime too! Cheers my friend great video! Aloha 🌺 -Caleb’s Aviation
Hawaiian is the de facto premium US carrier, IMHO. Especially now with the 787s. What I mean by that is the service and product makes you feel like you're flying in one of those highly rated Asian or Gulf State carriers, and yet it's US. Also all their flights are literally overseas (over water)!
Patrick... Just FYI... Hawaiian operates the 787 between Phoenix and Honolulu every day. I believe there are 2 787s that rotate between Los Angeles and Honolulu and Phoenix and Honolulu at the present time.
The Boston-Honolulu route is to import fresh seafood from New England to Hawaii. That’s how Hawaiians can get fresh Maine lobsters with their Mai-tai’s .
Well said Patrick from what I can see Hawaiian Airlines Boston and New York City to Honolulu has to deal with competition from Delta Airlines and United Airlines. If you do Honolulu to Boston on Delta you are doing HNL-JFK-BOS and for United Airlines you would be doing HNL-IAD/EWR-BOS. 1:15 you would see it's cheaper to fly Boston to Europe so is the Caribbean. On the other side it's expensive to fly Boston Logan to NRT 🇯🇵ICN🇰🇷 HKG🇭🇰 PEK🇨🇳 from those places you will eventually reach MNL🇵🇭. Compare it to where you are Patrick in San Francisco cheaper to fly towards Asia and Australia but expensive to Europe. 2026 Hawaiian Airlines Join one world Alliance yet you will encounter this problem to AA advantage and mileage plan users Oneworld Emerald users inability to use Lounge in domestic travel. That's why us-based one world Alliance users typically get the foreign ones to use the domestic lounges. 3:29 JL B787-8/B787-9 also flies to your home airport San Francisco from NRT JL57/58. The one you have here is JL7/8 BOS-NRT inaugural flight was January 2012. For BOS KIX flights it's cheaper to fly the same route you did to Honolulu where you have a 1 hour wait for HA449 HNL-KIX 23:53 KE054 HNL-ICN also used on New York City flight KE086/085 because the other flight KE081/082 A380
CDG-RUN is the longest NONSTOP domestic flight in the world. CDG-PPT (with a stop in SFO or LAX) is the longest domestic flight in the world. France doesn't have "territories" per se - the overseas possessions such as Reunion, French Polynesia, New Caledonia, etc. are considered overseas "departments" of France, more like states or provinces than territories.
Alaska didn’t say that about virgin. They said they weren’t sure which brand they would retain. Alaska communications about Hawaiian have been vastly more adamant about keeping Hawaiian branding.
8:17, Really? On Airbus A321neo, they also give ipad in business class, even though there is no in flight entertainment TV, which is interresting and weird. All airlines business class have in flight entertainment TV, but not on Hawaiian, AIrbus A321neo and Airbus A330-200, that's interresting and weird.
It's not a merger it's an acquisition. In the airline world there is a difference between the two terms. Alaska acquired Hawaiian and will maintain the Hawaiian operating certificate separate from the Alaska operating certificate. There will still be two distinct airlines owned by one. Another company structured like this is American Airliens which owns but operates separate operating certificates for Envoy, Piedmont, all held by American Airlines Holdings which also holds American Airlines a distinct operating certificate. This distinction is one reason why it was approved by the DOJ and FAA with no opposition. Because unlike the Spirit/Jetblue merger proposal that would have eliminated one airline by putting into the other, which giving the financial strength of both Jetblue and Spirit both are financially in bad shape and joining them would need to prove financial strength after the merger which I don't think they could do.
@@austinmamaat5248 you're wrong. they will have two air carrier certificates per the Alaska Airlines website. Hit news and search the acquisition annoucement dated October 2023.
I would expect that as will be selling these planes asap like they did with varvin fleet, to be replaced with 787 or max death plane witb a stop in sea. Hey cut costs to max ceo comp #1 prioity.
Great as usual. Corsair International does also operate flights to Reunion Island from Paris-Orly, Lyon and Marseille with their new A339 and French Bee from Paris-Orly with their A35K or A359. I would say that Boston-Honolulu route is the fifth longest domestic flight after CDG-RUN, ORY-RUN, LYS-RUN and MRS-RUN. This list could change as Aircalin is considering a non-stop flight from New Caledonia to Paris-CDG with a new plane, possibly A359, that would be one of the longest flight in the world.
Wrong on all counts regarding overlapping markets. Instead, AS or HA flights are being re-timed to ensure they don't mirror one another and offer more ranges of departure times. Also, AS NEVER promised to keep the VX brand. Ever. At all. They said they'd analyze both brands and did bring in outside consultants, who - after a year - came back and said the AS brand was far more valuable for expansion and the VX brand should be done away with.
Sorry but I’ve had better meals in Premium economy on Air New Zealand. US airline catering in my opinion is shit. Most important to me is the seat and comfort for flights over three hours and plenty of free cocktails !!
I'm sorry, the excuse of people knowing each other or passengers wanting to sit together just doesn't cut it for these terribly outdated seats. Had they really wanted to, hawaiian couldve easily gone for something like the apex suites. And the fact that they ended up with 1-2-1 seats anyways (on the new dreamliners), just shows that the 2-2-2 wasn't a feature to begin with
Quick note… I’m aware that the Alaska/Hawaiian merger has moved forward, however due to losing my voice I couldn’t add that to the video, so consider this the note from the editor. Thanks yall!
