Eivør enchants her musicians. Every time. They don't just play. They become part of the experience. Listening to Eivør is a transcendental experience. Can you imagine what it must be for the musicians?

Hi from Brazil. Eivør's "Falling Free" - Live at the Old Theater in Torshavn is my favorite song in my 54 yo. Like you, my first Eivor song was Tròdlabùndin and now I'm "almost" understanding faroese because of her 😁. Every day I play at least one of her songs and "Falling Free" is the one I love most! 🤩

Eivør the most famous Faroe Islander in recent times, makes my Faroe Island DNA happy. I love her music, and if you ever saw the TV series The Last Kingdom, she sings the main theme music and all incidental music. She is incredible 💘👍

Just discovered this phenomenal singer yesterday, since when I've listened to goodness knows how many reactions to this song, and also "Falling Free", which, if you've not already listened to it, I urge you to do so! I love the way that you allow the performance to run uninterrupted, and have added your thoughts by way of subtitles, unlike the majority of reactors, who are constantly stopping and starting, putting their two penneth in and disrupting the flow. Much respect to both you and Eivor!

It's been over a year since you posted this, so surely, by now, others have let you know that she was throat singing in the "unusual" bits. Traditional for her heritage. She has described how, if one knows how to properly throat sing, it is not hard on the vocal chords. I have no clue about it, so I totally trust her on this. :)
I love your analysis of this music and have just hit subscribe. (I just now saw this video on my recommendations). Also, NRK are masters at filming productions, so the World Heritage Site in Norway where this concert happened was so beautifully enhanced by the production, imo.

Isnt she wonderful? -- been listening to her for quite some time now --- She sings in several languages and sounds awesome in all of them --- I dont need to understand the words because I feel them in my soul --- I am so impressed how quick you understood what the throat singing represented -- She has been doing live concerts on line lately ( because of Covid) and I have enjoyed getting to see her gentle spirit -- and lovely to see her family join in as well --- like everyone else I love Falling Free -- Also Salt -- Verde Min and the video for True Love (official video) is striking and haunting --- She is my favorite singer right now

Sabina, I received your notification and stopped by to take a look. Oh, no Angelina? But, I was intrigued by the way you started talking about this video, So, I figured I'll give it a listen. Sabina, this was incredible! I'm so glad I hung in there. Petty good acoustics, eh? Nothing like mountain valleys to echo her voice and the drums. I'll bet every animal within 10 miles stopped in their tracks to listen to this. I'm ready to get a one way ticket and head to this place wherever it is. Do you know where this is? Wow! All I need is some yellow pads and a box of ballpoint pens and I will write, and write, and write till my fingers hurt.

It is in Norway, I have been informed by knowledgeable commenters. Other experts state that the angelic echo was added in post-production. She does that on most of her videos, but her voice would be mind-blowingly other-worldly and angelicly beautiful without it.

A very honest, thoughtful reaction Sabina. Eivor's addition is throat singing (Inuit and Mongolian) not beatbox. For a couple of brilliant young singers, take a look at Lucy Thomas, 17, from the UK ( fantastic covers and some celestial duets with her younger sister Martha) and Emily Linge, 12 (a Norwegian father, British mother, born and living in Dubai). In one of Emily's clips, Brian May from Queen accompanies her via Skype on "Love Of My Life", so that speaks volumes for Emily's talent and the quality of Brian May as a person. You probably already know them, but a reaction to First Aid Kit would also be good. Also Aurora from the Nidarosdomen ("Through The Eyes Of A Child") and HAIK ("Daydreamer") concerts.

I enjoyed this performance very much. I greatly look forward to your next Angelina Jordan reaction. She just released her new single, 7th Heaven, a upbeat jazzy tune with a highly inspiring message. She is singing in Faroese, which is from the Faroe Islands, and most closely resembles the ancient Norwegian that was spoken by the Vikings. She is married now, lives in Copenhagen, but she is a force of nature, isn't she? In between the verses she did a bridge that was described by someone from the islands described as "Foroen Throat Singing." Unbelievable. She sings all the music used by the outstanding series called "The Last Kingdom." Highly recommended!

Shamanic music "can't be copied" because songs are intended to be personal. They evolve over time with their singer and no one tries to copy that singer exactly. Jeremy Dutcher explains how songs evolve in indigenous North American culture and it's more or less the same in all shamanic musical tradition.

So many nuances are lost when listening through a mobile or computer speaker, or even regular bluetooth speakers. 6:36 And her Spell Song has now caught you too. This song is...I don't have the words other than that the song's title translation is accurate. "Spellbound."
I swear, every time, *every* time I've watched that video, I feel like I would not be surprised to see a dragon fly past in the sky or surface from the water in the nature panoramas. As if they and the Other Folk are there, just out of sight off camera.

You're face was a picture. 🌼🌺🌼 ... yes its totally magical shes from the Faroe Islands but shes an expert in North European folk music.. she used some techniques used by Unuit peoples.
The visuals and sound quality was curtisy of Norwegian TV..
Heres a thought .... You know the Russian teen Diana Ankudinova ...a princess of goosebumps herself ... imagine if Eivór was able to invite her to a festival or concert and then mentor her for a while.... imagine what those two might be able to come up with..
Eivór is also very diverse in her sounds and styles. The other that often gets recommended she sounds uncannily like Kate Bush at her best. She can also Rock and mix it with the viking drama style.

Eivør from the same concert in western Norway feat. the band Vamp w/their song "Tir n'a Noir" (again inspired by Irish folk):
    ua-cam.com/video/97HQ1U-uGaU/v-deo.html
Apparently the crowd was there for a Vamp concert, explains the full band set up on stage, and they had Eivør with them to contribute on (at least) Tir n'a Noir + this solo guest performance, guess that's why the crowd looked as "unprepared" as many of us from her performance
In this song Vamp sings in 🇧🇻 while Eivør sings her parts in 🇫🇴
The concert was also sent in its entirety on NRK (Norwegian public broadcaster)

Song is actually called ‘trøllabundin’ - tròdlabùndin is not a word. I guess the uploader of that video tried to spell it phonetically.

Hi Sabina, very interresting choise to react. All the sudden I got a picture in my mind of North American indian culture. Some notes she sang gave the same kind of feeling. Another connection I had was Fnnish sami peoples songs, that drumming she did and the melody flow reminded me of that. Simple and powerful. What do we have next?

Sabina, that is your Norse ancestors calling to you. Faeroe Island language Faroese is the closest to Old Norse. Not ever conquered I think since Harold Hardraade landed there in 1066.

Hello, random Faroese coming through😊 Icelandic is actually the closest to Old Norse, Faroese would be second. Also, Harald Hardrada died in 1066 and he never set foot on the islands as far as we know.
