Nice Autocar video for a change - I've only ever watched this channel when there's no more Chris Harris or XCAR and its usually disappointing but this was worthwhile for a change. Keep making videos with this sort of quality!
As a Brit I agree with you. That's not a lot of power for a s/c V6 and it's not all that light compared to the Elise. I could live with that but then it's understeering and you always have to remember the lack of much interior. I would say a poor response to the F-type or even a quick spruce up of an old car to get some money in the kitty. Cynical, I know but that's the way it looks to me.
It's taken me 8 years to think of this, but most of the English speaking population of the world uses mph. So. That's why. See you soon. Well, in a few years.
Mr Jean-marc Gales. .... Its all very exciting for Lotus if you are a midget. You have to be under 6 foot in height to be able to fit into these Lotus cars. Question: When are they going to build a car for taller people? Anglo North America has over 330 million people wanting to drive a car like a Lotus. However, only half the population would fit in the drivers seat. They should make a larger car ... 1300 kilo ...550 hp ... 1300/550=2.36 ... more leg room for 6'-6" guys .... more gauges ... wider tires 295f-315r x 18' aluminium ..... better monitor/screen/GPS .... sell it for $150,000 U.S. ..... it would sell more than Ferraris +Jag F-type + Mercedes AMG GT combined.
I lost respect for Lotus when they were deciding what engines to fit. They turned down BMW engines!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also why does it take an American to make a real Lotus? aka the Venom GT. I don't like any of the current cars styling. It's slide rule engineering. That went out in the 70's for gods sake!
yeah yeah, in a straight line yes, but as soon as there's a corner the regular exige devours the tesla... and that what matters for a lotus! handling! and no matter how powerful a car is, 450 kg more will show in the handling. therefore your comparison is rubbish.
David Johnson Lotuses are very light, so they don't need any more power. Power to weight ratio is more important than simply power. For example, the M1A2 Abrams tank has several thousand HP but can barely reach 40 mph as it weighs well over 60 metric tonnes. Mercs are heavy luxury cars, hence they need the extra power.
This deserves so much more views, Lotus is doing one heck of a job, building these cars!
We need a street legal version of the Exige V6 in the U.S.
Nice Autocar video for a change - I've only ever watched this channel when there's no more Chris Harris or XCAR and its usually disappointing but this was worthwhile for a change. Keep making videos with this sort of quality!
The sound of the both cars are wonderful.
it's always nice to see a journalist having even more fun than usual
Glad to know Lotus is back and here to stay :)
If the Cup R was street legal it would beat the Cayman GT4 in everything but comfort
+Zack Halverson if the GT4 was not road legal it would beat the Cup R in everything.
The Exige Cup is faster than the GT4,closer to a GT3
Can you find one hour of one day when it's not raining? "It's a little slippery". Well of course it is with moss growing on the track!
i gotta say the elise and the evora are my favourite lotus cars.
Could just be me, but are the pedals offset from the centre of the steering column???
Thankyou Lotus... and Steve.
I saw a v6 cup at donington that had been slightly changed for racing
Bellissimo filmato, grazie!
Great video. Thanks of posting.
Have they put a foot rest in it yet? And also do parts still fall off like the demo car I drove?
6:29 what's that buzzer?! The only other car where I heard a similar noise was the Audi R8 GT3 LMS.
SI is > than Imperial agreed but speeds are still in MPH in the UK and this is a UK car magazine. It isn't hard to convert MPH to KPH.
Why do race cars hav indicators or flashers as i would normally say
The R sounds so much better - is it because of the total lack of insulating materials/no interior and engine tuning?
You are right, I may had said on a wrong way. But I still would like kilos+kph, in my opinion, those can deliver more precise data.
what's the compressor for?
Road version with Racing wing and gearbox for me please!
As an American, I do think lotus has a winner here.
Almost like an answer to the jaguar f-type

The car is pretty impressive, and the new styling is nice, but I kinda miss the looks of the old Exige and Elise.
can some one tell me how affordable a Lotus is? with insurance
please?
so why buy it over a 911 gt3 r or a viper gt3-r?
I want the gearbox of the Exige V6 Cup R for all Lotus cars (street legal)! ;D
you dont deserve to ever own a lotus if you actually want that
Spartan168
As an option to the manual it would be really nice, it's miles better than the IPS transmission!
Spartan168 well, the stock gearbox actually is rather bad...
Want to drive one of these soooooooo bad
4 seconds faster, yes, but not on the same tires: 4:55 Avon , 2:01 Pirelli
Steve, when you drive these things hard you look 10 years younger! :)
I hope it's easy to boost the "R" version to 400 RWHP. It would seem more appropiate.
If I won the lottery a Lotus Exige V6 Cup would be top of my list
that is a cool wing
The new Exige V6 is a good successor
i care about mph, since i, you know...live in the UK, where lotus is based, where we use mph....
So happy for Lotus
The V6 Cup is the perfect Lotus
A racing car faster than its road car variant? No way!
Put the speed on kilometers. Who cares about mph! The weight is okay, kilos. Thanks.
It's taken me 8 years to think of this, but most of the English speaking population of the world uses mph. So. That's why. See you soon. Well, in a few years.
I saw one of those in California!
Well said straderdx
Make me think the background under those kinds of statements...
who else misses the lighter 2ZZ-GE Elise/Exige?
6:11and on amazing.....
Trust me after 100's of track miles I would kill for a sequential shift. The stock gearbox is crap, I have toasted two of them already.
but you have the 1.8 version which is a different gearbox
Yes, Saying I would love a sequential
jerusdc ok...nice car though..hope to own the v6 variant some day
Ditto!
For more track videos of the Exige V6 Cup, check out my channel!

ummm,Evora
Guess what... is raining! My god!
beautifull car
I would be happy with either one, does anyone want to buy my TVR chimaera? 1999 Full TVR service history. Love the lotus👍🇬🇧
The island is green for a reason.
sounds good :-)
I wonder how it would handle on some Yokohama ADVAN Neova AD08 Rs instead of those crap Pirellis!
£63,000. That will help towards Lotus' debt
£63 grand!? you what?
still prefer a sub 950kg exige S
Lotus... why you make cars heavier... Lotus... STAHP.
Maybe not uglier, it's certainly not an ugly car, but it is different... But hey, at least it's got a V6 now!
just liked for the first 10 seconds of video...watching this guy just talking always bores me. I just want to see the cars
i dont like the fact that its supercharged
haha blinker on the racecar
step 1 - google. step 2 - type
So controlled
Yes not an 'ugly' car but certainly not pretty. Blame it on the rose tinted glasses leftover from the previous beautiful elise/exige.
probably would if they existed.
In my opinion the exige got uglier. What is your opinion tell me by the way
K
step 1 - start using SI units. Step 2- realise that imperial is shit

They are almost as fast as an electric car lugging around 450kg battery now...
Time to wake up, Lotus. Contact me. I'm the one to ask.

I just wish lotus would get Mercedes powered in its road cars

+StriderCX I want an new esprit with the 4.0 bi turbo
Whilst thats partly true, the fastest ones always have more power.
I know there are die hard manual box fans out there and I get it but I would absolutely want that sequential gearbox in one of these. Road or track.
