I'm Enrico's great great great grandson(I don't know exactly how many greats but I do know im related to him). I recently heard his recordings for the first time and I have to say, he has an amazing voice.
My grandfathers cousin is Nina Morgana Zirato! She was close to Caruso he sent her to Italy to study and Nina “Baby Patti” married Caruso’s manager, Giovanni Zirato! Small world
For the FIRST time? This was done in a documentary I saw at least twenty years ago. And what was shown then was more than the snippets we have been teased with here.
I remember seeing that documentary too. I think it is posted somewhere on UA-cam. I saw it on UK TV here and they had synchronised even back then the footage
his image was at our house on top of our fireplace in America in Chicago Heights Illinois I wish I could send you a photo of it the previous owner loved him so they put a half bust image of him on the mantle
Do a search for a UA-cam post from CinetecaBologna entitled "The sound of silence: Enrico Caruso canta, forte e chiaro, in un film del 1918!" Just be aware that it isn't the whole scene, just "Vesti la giubba" through to the end, there are lots of asides to the audience, and it's a 1918 film synched (not too badly) to the 1907 recording. But it's more than we've ever had before! It may not be like those Vitaphones with Schipa or Martinelli or Raisa, but it's something!

He was an amazing singer. He sounds so great on the restired records. I can just imagine what he sounded like in a live performance.
I'm assuming through Gloria? I met her once.
I hope his talent was inherited through the family lineage. I would love to have those kind of bragging rights. 🥰
My goodness. This is astounding! To see Caruso performing on film that I thought I would never see.
Caruso is the greatest we have ever heard, he simply stands alone.
Excellent. Preserving such art is important for humanity.
I hope humanity remains and survives so all this can be appreciated.
It is always a joy to see one of my favourite tenors and a master performer like Enrico Caruso.
This is the only opera sing i will always listen to hands down
Wonderful!!!
My God, after 55 years I see a snippet of matched voice with silent film! Where is the entire work at???

Fascinating, would you be so kind as to share the name of the documentary please? I’d love to watch it. Thank you

Is the full movie available with the singing integrated?
No, and the synchronized snippet doesn't even have the introduction, "Recitar!" Just "Vesti la giubba" to the end.
Where can we watch this without the intrusive commentary?
Nice if they remaster the film. Otherwise the film is available ok utube
