Basic principles of fire safety: understanding the science of fire

Over the next six months the IOSH FRMG will be bringing to you six webinars presented in short easy-to-follow sessions on the ‘Back-to-Basic principles’ in fire safety.
The suite of presentations starts here with an “Introduction to Fire Safety” and includes the “Principle of Understanding the Science of Fire”. This first session will highlight the science of fire and will include the relevance of chemistry and physics to fire and combustion, and how materials eventually burn.
Later, we lead on to understanding the “Principles of Fire Prevention”, “Fire Precautions” and “Fire Investigation” and conclude with the “Principles of Designing for Fire Safety”, and “Utilising New and Emerging Technologies” to combat fire.
These interactive presentations primarily focus on future leaders in the early stages of careers as influential safety practitioners and managers but also serve as timely refreshers for those who have been in the profession longer.
