this car really is astonishing. With its van-like chassis is offers almost as much space as the VW Golf. However, with the aluminium-space-frame its weight is 250kg below a Golf. And even 50kg below the much smaller VW Lupo. Even today there is nothing comparable.
I have the exact same A2 1.2tdi. I bought it because it's a very interesting car, and to collect it and because I have multiple sports car. Safe fuel for the others.
Hello! Thanks for the video it was very helpful. I am planning to buy a second hand A2 1.2 TDI auto gearbox. It is 2003 model and has done 200.000km. I have a few questions on my mind. If your can answer those according to your experiences i would be grateful. I am worried about any kind of problems it may cause as it has quite high milage. Im concerned about the engine and gearbox especially. Did you have any big problems about them costing you fortune? Also are you happy with the gearbox? Is it responsive enough when you push the gas pedal and also when changing gear? Is there any other problems you experienced other than the ones i asked? Or anything you would advice me to check in detail before buying? I am looking for your answer. Thanks in advance. All the best.
Fırat Şimşek Hello there! I would say that...unless you are handy with cars and can do service on your own...the car gets expensive. The transmission is expensive to fix, so you want to buy a 1.2 with one in great shape. Make sure you change transmission-fluid every two years.
Around the Millenium, Audi A2, VW Lupo 3L, Honda Insight, were lightweight, and fuel_efficient but since then manufacturers have gone back to fast, bling etc. which is horrible. The only good news now seems to be electric.
This thing sips fuel like canary bird... and biodiesel or vegetable oil at that!! Wov. And still takes 4 people from A to B! Mother Earth thanks you, I think...
Haha Thanks I made this video to try to inspire people to get a really fuel efficient car because I do believe it has a big impact on average peoples wallets. I also think we might be able to produce cheap and abundant algae-diesel in the future which would be great to mother earth, together with HVO-biodiesel :)
What is the fuel consumption with regular diesel @120kph, with the tires inflated to 3 bar? This vehicle might be more ecological that fully electric ones.
Hmm 3 bar? I wouldnt go beyond that but I guess it would be maybe 0,31-0,32 liters per 10 kms. I usually set the pressure around 2.8. Yeah it takes a lot of emissions to create a new car. If you would be able to use HVO biodiesel or regular B100 biodiesel you would be able to reduce your CO2 emissions with 50-90% compared to diesel...so yeah it could actually be greener than an electric car.
2.8 bar is fine, more comfort while still getting low rolling resistance. Safer too. To be honest, I use 40psi to get better traction. Are you sure that you are getting over 30km per litre @120kph? That is AMAZING!
not 100%..it could be anywhere from 0,31-0,34 liters per 10 kms....but I know that I've been driving 130-140 kms per hour while getting an average of 0,36 liters per 10 kms :)
That's amazing efficiency... most cars spend much more, and electrics discharge really quickly at that speed. You should get a 30 litre tank though. Maybe you could make a video showing the fuel efficiency @150kph. Most cars can't get 4l every 100km even when going 80kph.
@@math9254 Well there are certain things I need to fix...and I'm not a mechanic myself WHAT SO EVER lol. It's difficult to find a superb mechanic which knows the car in true detail. I've been fixing a lot of stuff lately and it costs a lot when you can't do any service by yourself.

Weren't Trabants made from hemp composite?
Very good question!! Might be the case! I heard they were made of some sort of plastic-composite, might have been hemp-based.
U still drive this A2 today?
Math Weijzen Hello there! I got 330 000 kilometers on the odometer and I'm sad to say that I am about to sell the car.
@@Nichen why? Milage?

Great! See also green consumer guide dot com audi a2 1.2tdi article and lukafoto dot com. Mine had DEFA preheater electric plug in for winter.
