Heard this on Mx vs Atv Untamed. Didn’t realize it was a Christian song!
Their stuff is usually so good that it's respectable. They have clever lyrics, and there is nothing inherently wrong with someone making a song about beliefs that are so passionate about. It's just that a lot of Christian stuff feels so dull, corny, and sterile, but Relient K I can listen to as a regular band, even though I know they are believers, and often sing about what they get from that lifestyle.
This song is quite special to me. Just remembering to appreciate how lucky I am to be alive was a guiding light to find actual happiness in dark times. To always smile and know that I was lucky to experience all emotions, even the bad ones, and how marvelous all of these experiences that culminate to a full life really are. It's been a long time since I first heard it, and with so many recent events in the world, it was only fitting that I would circle back around and find this song again. I wanted to say thank you, and for everyone struggling, remember, it's funny how you find you enjoy your life, when you're just happy to be alive :)

Back when I was still a Christian I remember hearing this song for the first time and falling in love with it. Then the girl I was dating all of highschool randomly glued the lyrics for this song on the outside of a box for a birthday present. Didn’t even know I liked the song.
Honestly these lyrics hit home even if you aren't Christian. They speak to a powerful truth in this universe:

Crazy to think subconsciously I have been depressed my whole life. I used to love and bump this back in the day playing my vs atv. Funny how the chorus says Whe. Your happy to enjoy life and at the time I really did. Was 18 19 had what I thought were friends and fam. Now I listen to this song and think about how and why I liked this song. Think I know now since I've past the point of no return
I feel you man. I think I have been depressed most of my life too. Butni don't think there's a point of no return. I mean, sure, we'll never have thr awesome lives we dreamed about as kids... but there will always be good days here and there. Its thr depression talking when we think life is just endless pain.
No reason to give up, tomorrow might be a nice day.

If you’re reading this dumb comment then you’ve made it a year past that point.. I felt a lot like you did when I was 18,19,20.. in my thirties now and I can tell you there’s plenty of joy to be had. You can’t ever go back to those innocent days once you start growing up, it’s true. But just because things can’t stay the same never means that things can’t ever be happy again. Carry on 😌

this is literally my favorite song ever. Whenever I'm down or thinking about how idk what's next, it's so true that life is such a mix. it'll be another day that it'll be 75 and sunny. living in NEOhio helps me relate too... but really how I felt at 16 when this song came out vs. how I feel now at 34... life doesn't change that much - there are up and downs and I still haven't figured it out. But good Relient K songs help out :)

I read many years ago (like 15-20 years) that when they wrote this song, a small part of it was influenced by a outdoor concert they did. At the concert it suddenly started pouring rain but the crowd didn’t care and kept dancing and jumping and singing along. I was at that concert!! And it was wild how the rain didn’t matter, we were just all happy to be there and “be alive”.
I can’t prove or confirm this so don’t ask, 😅 When I research this now different results about the lyrics come up with no mention of the concert. But I hope it’s true, because if so, my youth group and I were part of the reason this song exists, and that would just be so amazing. ❤
