- How to easily make wet dry vac hose to PVC pipe adaptors.
Learn just how easy it is to heat and shape PVC into an adaptor that can be used to connect any wet dry vac hose to standard size PVC pipe. These adaptors can be used for a variety of applications including when building a wet dry vac powered shop dust collection system or when using a wet dry vac to suck water out of underground pool filter lines.

Holy crap!! Brilliant!! I feel so dumb now. I have been searching for adapters, making makeshift couplers, using ridiculous amounts of tape and silicone...you name it! not one time did I ever think about grabbing my heat gun. Thank you! Months of doing the wrong thing, and the answer was so simple and right in front of my eyes. You are a lifesaver.
Glad it helped.
This is great in 2 ways. It helps figure out my fittings for dust collection and now I don't feel so bad about how dirty my shop it. Merry Christmas to All.
Merry belated Christmas!
Worked perfectly! Thank you!
Thanks for posting this. I just did it and it worked great!
Genius technique!
This works great, I do it with all my tools and vacs, but I'll also add, you are loosing a lot of suction by going up in diameter. You should only go down in size as you move away from the vacuum.
Well done very clever I'll be using this technique for my vacuuming needs! 👍
Here's another PVC / Heat-gun tip- I took a 3" PVC threaded adapter, set it on my table, and then I set the back-end of the heat gun into it to help hold the heat gun upright. That frees up my hands and heat gun is pretty stable. I actually glued the 3" PVC to a small piece of wood base to make it more stable.
Great job. I have a make shift dust collector but after this I'm starting over. Keep it up Dan
Brilliant!! Thanks!!!
You solved my problem. Thank you
Clever. Thank you. This is very helpful and I never would have thought of that. Thanks.
You're very welcome!
That worked perfectly. Thank you
You're welcome!
Fantastic idea using a heat gun to manipulate the pvc to the needed diameter. I wish I thought of that!
Thank You ! I'm getting ready to connect up my vac system. I'm getting tired of "house cleaning" after every job, or catching up with that "I'll clean it up after "this" job bad habit I've become much to lazy about !! ..... lol. .... Thanks Again ! You have a new subscriber !!
Fantastic idea and great presentation! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you! Cheers!
Awesome and looks really easy. Going to try it in my shop this week as I set up my system!
Hope you enjoy it!
Hey DIYeastcrafts, thank you so much for taking the time and effort to product this great tutorial on adapting PVC pipe and fittings to shop vac systems. I've spent too much time trying to find fittings to purchase and you've solved my problem.
Glad it was helpful!
first vid I watched in my quest to not spend 40 -50 bucks on a cheaply made gutter cleaning adapter set and now I'm good to go . Thanks!!!!!
Glad I could help
What a great idea. I never knew you could heat PVC up like that (and I have worked with it for years). THANK YOU for that tip.
You are so welcome!
this is brilliant! I never would've thought the PVC would become so flexible with some heat. Totally gonna use this
Glad you like it!
This was a really helpful video. I’ve been improving my dust collection and this will save me a lot of money. Thanks 👍
You are so welcome!
This is great, wish I'd thought of this. Thanks
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for the tip!
Happy to help!
Very nice. Thank you so much.
Most welcome 😊
Great idea!
Thanks!
Really great solution. Thanks so much.
Glad it helped
good stuff.
Amazing, thank you!
Glad you liked it!
Everyone be careful when heating PVC, when it starts to burn it is highly toxic. If you smell anything, you are inhaling poison. The margin between making the PVC malleable vs. burning is small. Keep the heat moving and even just like he does in the video. Don't get the heat gun too close! Have fun. Thanks for this video, it was a great reminder of a very useful "trick".
Thanks for the tip
Good to know...Thanks
Cool!
great tips
Glad you like them!
awesome. ty boss man
Glad it helped
Brilliant. Thank you. Better than being ripped off for these connectors
Glad it helped
Absolutely brilliant. And an excuse to buy a heat gun!
Thank you
Thanks bud
No problem 👍
Brilliant! I wonder if you can also heat up the couplers or pipes in the oven (size permitting) and use an oven mitt to handle it whilst making the fitting.
That's a great idea!
Hi, this video is very helpful - thank you! I need to make a connection from 2" PVC pipe to the vacuum port of Vacmaster Vac (the vac port is 2.26" ID). 2" PVC pipe is about 2.38" OD. Wonder how to make the PVC pipe smaller instead? Thanks.
Heat it up, put a hose clamp over the PVC, slide it over the fitting and then clamp down on the hose clamp
Thanks for reminding me my heat gun. I was using a torch when the heat gun was laying there, silly me.
can you use a hose clamp to make the pvc SMALLER?
I think I saw some blast gates.. Have you ever tried to shrink 4" Sewer Pipe? The 4" needs to shrink about 1/4" in overall diameter. It is obvious from your videos, it will easily increase in size.. But, have you tried to shrink it? Like for making Blast gates out of Sewer pipe, that the 4" flex hose will go over and a snug fit? They are about the same size each, and the Sewer pipe needs to shrink a bit. Ever try to heat one up and let it cool, without doing anything else? Would it shrink?
Wow! Just what I've been looking for. So did you ever install your dust collection system?
Yes I did
Warning, this is a good idea but you need to add a bare copper ground wire inside the run of pvc for the vac. PVC builds up a static charge that can cause the sawdust to catch fire. It's code! Make sure the copper wire is attached to a ground.
Thanks for the info
We use fire when heathguns are not available. Same principle.

Use two 45 degree pvc fittings connected together by a short straight pvc piece and you will get better flow/suction.
you all probably dont give a shit but does anybody know a method to log back into an instagram account?
I stupidly forgot the login password. I would appreciate any assistance you can give me
@Spencer Khalid Instablaster :)
@Titan Aldo I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site on google and Im trying it out atm.
Takes a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
@Titan Aldo It did the trick and I actually got access to my account again. I am so happy!
Thank you so much, you saved my account !
@Spencer Khalid no problem xD
sounds like Woody Allen !
Why don’t tool manufacturers simply utilize standard sizes and measurements so that their customers can easily adapt common materials, tooling and accessories.
Use gloves!
