Fabio Capello played with, and managed, Franco Baresi. Carlo Ancelotti played with, and managed, Paolo Maldini. Wild how we once had players like Baresi & Maldini (Milan), Del Piero & Buffon (Juve), Zanetti (Inter), Totti (Roma), Raul & Casillas (Real Madrid), Puyol, Xavi, Iniesta & Messi (Barcelona), Gerrard (Liverpool), Terry & Lampard (Chelsea), Scholes, Giggs & Rooney (United) etc. It seems more unlikely to have those "10+ years of service" players synonymous with their club in the 2020s and 2030s.
Yes. I love that absolutely love the old fashioned Italian authority. An authority that can work only certain players such has the Spaniard & the Italian. With the English it didn’t work bat all mainly due to cultural reasons. The concept of captain is so important in Italian teams. You can’t start to eat your meals or leave the dinner table unless the captain does so. It’s based on traditional family structures.
Roberto Baggio is the greatest Italian player. 2 knee reconstructions. Told he would never play again. Lost his speed. Couldn't move laterally without pain. Still became an absolute star. Goals, assists, smart, vision, ability, skillful and a big game player.
A great player from a country that has given us many of those. Baggio was the best among a very good Italian crop of strikers at the time, when the Italian league was the top league.
Guys it’s an absolute crime that Totti isn’t considered the best Italian player of all time. For me he should be considered either 1 or 2, at worst 3. His stats, longevity, winning the WC with 4 assists 1 goal and 16 metal screws in his leg. Won the scudetto with Roma…if you know anything about Italian football you know how hard that is with Roma’s budget in 2001. Totti is the best 2 footed player of all time, second most goals in Serie A history, golden boot winner, WC winner and Euro cup finalist.
@@Mossaab-kg3cj5hc5s I think of it more as starting woth the Germany game in 2001 and ending with the Germany game in 2010. Expectations were still very high in 2010.

The Ruud Gullit interview was great because he was comfortable talking to RIo. It's awkward with Kemp cause he's just the typical tv guy, it comes off fake and uninterested.
how is this interview good? anytime he wants to speak about anything non England 2008 related he gets interrupted by that blond dude to make it about England 2008 again
Do you think in today's standards at very least, the (active) players was humble enough to learn the evolution of football (not just tactics but also mindset)? I mean, as we knew the media, pundits (the liking of Neville or Carragher) and the supporters (the sample from some fans in DR sports) were pretty ignorant.
@HaelRhys what an opinion though. 90% of structures are stubbornness. That's great point to be said. Seems like there were systemic issues for all the stakeholders in English football. After I watched some English fan channels (especially the fans that casted on DR sports) seems there are chronic ignorance. For example, they used to say that you are not the real fans because you didn't came from the same city of the club, WTF? Yet they don't even knew that their club revenue mostly came from Asia and America. They can explain in details about league 2 clubs yet they need non English employee to scout Juventus game. And as we know, most of the English football articles from the media were kinda trash. Not to mention about the pundits, I remember Luka Modric called out English media for underestimating and disrespect his NT yet Neville demand modric to be respectful to them (seems he forgot that he was the one who made the own goal when Robinson miss kick his pass in Zagreb for Euro 2008 qualifiers)
fascinating so pele ,Maradona ,messi , number one then R9 just a tiny bit behind capello words he knows , played against pele watched ,seen many great players close he knows what hes talking about
Yeah….but I think he also meant to say that R9 was the best in training. The year that Capello was in Madrid, there is player testimony from Ruud Van nistelrooy and Antonio Cassano saying that R9 was the best player in the world.
I want to start by saying I'm a massive fan of Rio Ferdinand and I've followed his career since he was a youth team player at West Ham. However, listening to him talk about his time as a player during Capello's era, it's no surprise that England were unsuccessful in major tournaments. It doesn't sound like the England players possessed the levels of maturity and discipline needed to play a month long football tournament. No beer, no butter and no ketchup is a small price to pay in return for immortality.
Fabio Capello's relentless drive for winning and team discipline would have been an absolute shock to the overpriced show boats that permeate English football
9 leagues in 16 years with 5 different teams. The best coach in the 90’s and one of the top ten ever
his best quote: the only thing i know about Feyenoord is that they come from the same country as Ajax
@@Flippityflap when did he say that?
@@Flippityflap when Capello was 20, in 1970, Feyenoord won the UCL that year. So he must know that club very well

Finally he gets to tell his side of the story after the golden generation slagging him off for 15 years
I always thought of the golden generation being between 98 to 2006 , didn't he manage after 08 failure to qualify for Euro ?

The "golden generation" That won nothing
The tinfoil generation
Capello explained Maldini Baresi Ronaldo Van Basten til Pele n Maradona and this young guy asked about Ibra. Cmonnnn
😂😂😂 mentioned him like three times
my thoughts exactly
He's no idea of many great players 😂
Needs to be subbed off for bigger guests like Capello et al.
Ibra is one of the greatest strikers of all time, so what are you talking about?

Fabio Capello was one of the greatest managers of his own time. He’s a legend 👍
Kemp is sooo young and naive for such interviews. He's not interested in R9 and Van Basten stories, he had to mention Zlatan to disorient Capello.
What's the fascination with Zlatan
The Ruud Gullit interview was great because he was comfortable talking to RIo. It's awkward with Kemp cause he's just the typical tv guy, it comes off fake and uninterested.
Exactly
YESSSSSSS OMG I WAS SO ANNOYED
Who’s this young man? He kept calling the legendary coach “Fabio” 😂 while would call him manager, boss, and Mr. Capello.
A good rare interview with the man himself, and the butter story is now cleared up...

The issue is the culture of the English players. So stubborn and not willing to change or sacrifice. Hence why they haven’t won anything for 60+ years
