He is the best player, former NBA player Yuki Togashi.
You can say Rui is the best player just because of height. But if Yuki was the same 6'8 as Rui. Boy. The skill that Yuki has, you'd think he's Michael Jordan or something.
He is also the most seasoned veteran amongst them, as team captain.
But I can't argue with Japan's head coach. Of course he's trying to matchup to the Europeans height right now that it's a scrimmage.

Japan's qualification to Olympics is just a fluke. Their bracket last World Cup is quite easy. The only team in their bracket that is difficult to beat is Germany and Australia.

일본 농구는 3점 농구인데 슈터들이 부진 했다 하치무라도 너무 집중 수비 당했고 호킨스가 너무 경쟁력 없게 아쉽게 했음 와타나베 유타가 있었으면 좋았을듯 먼 거리를 원정을 가서 슈터들이 컨디션이 안 좋은듯

俺もそう思った、小さいからなのか切り込みや裏をすごい簡単に取られて、相対的に小さいし手の長さも短めだからパスが通りやすいし、大きい１，２歩で裏取れるし、カットインを警戒するとシュート打たれるしで。今日は特にディフェンスの弱点が浮き彫りに見えた感じがする。

So Japan doesn’t have any tall men to play basketball? I don’t care how much you ball in offense end, a 5’6 is a black hole in defense.
In Japan, players over 6’3 feet are considered valuable, so from an early age, they are coached to play as inside players. On the other hand, players under 6 feet are able to play as guards, but are too small to actually compete on the world stage.
Japan only has one nba player. They cannot compete with other teams with multiple NBA players. Simple math.
