I suggest that in the IT department, you will find the skills, necessary to perform a data mapping assessment in the organisation. The experts in Risk, Finance and Compliance, can help support this by describing to the analysts, what is going on in their departments. I have conducted data mapping in several financial services organisations and made sure I had very strong business analysts performing the work.
I hope the UK scraps GDPR when they leave the EU. I am not sure who it is supposed to help but all it does for me is intrudes on my internet experience.
