THe new dice play came about from the solo module, that is the way the solo game determines if your unit is spent. People enjoyed that aspect of the solo module so much Academy games decided that they would change how the game works.
You probably dont care at all but does someone know of a way to get back into an instagram account..? I somehow lost the account password. I love any help you can give me.
@Dakota Jonathan I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site on google and Im waiting for the hacking stuff atm. I see it takes a while so I will reply here later with my results.
@@wmcole5099, I have a solo for AtB and I think it`s one of the best solo systems. Not perfect, but very good. The damage mechanism is not an issue. Yes, it takes unknow from the game, but most solo war games take some elements of surprise.
Will that middle tray accommodate the addition of the Wrecks and Destruction on the Eastern Front expansion? It looks a little small. I have both this and ATB back-ordered. Hopefully, I'll see it soon. Please do a gameplay video. I searched and could not find any. BTW, Really like the Channel. Thank You.
We'll do a full review (with all the new gameplay soon). I'll be honest, I've spent the day trying to get everything into the trays, and "comfortably" I can't get all the counters for the base game in. Things like the damage markers for hard and soft targets I keep in baggies as having them organized in a tray is pointless because they end up in a bag anyway.
@@ThePlayersAid Looking forward to the review. I guess I'll find out when my copy arrives, but I think these trays may be a step backward. Maybe I'll pull the tray out of 2nd edition AtB. :-)
I think that you'll find that the damage counters take little (if any) away from playing this series solo. The fact that they've thrown in the same spent mechanic as was in the Awakening the Bear solo module is a plus since it throws in a better way of playing individual units.
@@von4297 The solo module comes with a Mission Book that uses AtB, so I do not think it would work very well. I never actually tried, so I'm not 100% sure. I do know that I've heard them say that they are working on a SoSt solo module, which changes the tactics used on the cards to fit better the tactics needed in SoSt.
Harvestersz thanks. I was curious and looked into it a little more. There was a BGG user that asked Academy this question, as well. Although they are planning to make on specifically for SoS, they did say “You can also use the AI Card Deck as an AI player for 'Storms of Steel 3rd Edition' firefights. The team plans to release a Solo Expansion specifically for 'Storms of Steel 3rd Ed' in the future, but the current Solo Expansion AI Card Decks should still provide a good Solo Experience. The only thing missing would be a Solo Mission Track which you can either play without, or devise one of your own after you have some familiarity with the system.” Source: boardgamegeek.com/thread/2161063/will-there-be-new-solo-expansion-when-3rd-edition
Do they just skip the 2nd edition?! I bought the 2nd edition part one back in the day when it first came out at Essen Spiel and waited this part tow to be upgraded to 2nd Edition, and...well, until I lost fate, it is finally here, I just hope those who get it will have fun. *sigh*

great music for Christmas!
Going to give that system a closer look (meaning I'll buy one).
Thanks again Alexander!

@Dakota Jonathan It worked and I actually got access to my account again. Im so happy:D
Thank you so much you saved my account !
@Andy Memphis Glad I could help =)
At looooooooong last, lol. Storms of Steel. I think I pre-ordered this during the Reagan presidency :)
Hahaha, I do remember cancelling my order for second edition a number of years ago.
Too true I gave up on this game system years ago.
@@ThePlayersAid Thanks for the video, though...very cool!
You forgot the polish one nobody bought.
Ain't it true.
Sold my copy years ago in anticipation for this edition. Finally!
I have AtB on pre order. Any idea when it’s coming out to uk?
For the UK, unsure. I've heard that SoS is working it's way through customs at the moment though.
If you have a original edition is it compatible with the solo rule set and is there a big change in the game or is it more cosmetic..
The solo ruleset is ONLY for awakening the bear, not for storms of steel
Does the solo rules module work for this edition?
I believe not. The AtB solo module is core set specific with pieces, maps and missions.
I would think the damage counter mechanism kills solo playability.

So are the new rules substantially better than 1st edn?
thank you for the great n informative video.
AT LAST, is out. Still a few weeks of waiting for me.

Looks like a great 2+ player game.
Sadly, solitaire gameplay seems impossible with the damage counter mechanic.
The first title in the series (awakening the bear) has a dedicated solo module. Hoping this gets the ssme treatment one day

Is the AtB solo module (eastern front) not compatible with this? I was under the impression it was.

They did skip the second edition, but this edition is entirely backwards compatible.
nice to know that it is backwards compatible.
