    I actually love the way Matsuri sings in this song lol. Just with how fast paced everything in this song is.

    In my opinion their first album "Girls Reform Manifest" is their best work. It's just straight up metalcore front to back. I'm not the biggest fan of how they went in their new cute Kawai-Metalcore style. I'm not saying it's bad. And also I understand it, it brings in such a HUGE audience of people who love it.
    But just straight up metalcore Hanabie is the best. Off this album you should also check out Want To Tie Up, Sentimental Herione, Genkai Numa Life, and Our 7 Days War

    One of my favorite songs! It's so punkrock. I actually like Hanabie.'s punkrock side the most its really authentic. I came across a couple video's of Hanabie. but it was this album that made me a fan! I really like Matsuri's voice in this song and album. She sings in the most punkrock parts of this song, If you don't listen to a lot of punkrock you might not get it.

    I could listen to a whole album of Marsuri on vocals. I ❤️ Hanabie, but if Matsuri does any side stuff I’m buy’n it.

    Matsuri sounds great in this song. She sounds the same in a lot of the shorts they did.

    Here's my hot take from Eric and DragonPhly, IMO I think Matsuri's early vocals was intentional. Listen carefully in the end of SMS on how Matsuri deliver that line, it might look she's struggling but its not. Yeah I know she f up in some of her Live performances but I don't believe she's not confident enough on her vocals back then.

      I know a lot of people love her vocals but I don't think she is that good of a vocalist. I actually prefer Hetssu's vocals over Matsuri's (she does some backing vocals for Matsuri at points live and sounds more on-pitch). Matsuri has improved for sure though compared to what she sounded live in the past, but I think some of her lines might be a bit too high for her range (just listen to her speaking voice). That said, I do think some of it might be intentional and the production doesn't help for me either (a lot of layers on the vocals which I tend to not like). Also, it might be a taste thing. I like this track a lot though, so it's not like it is stopping me from listening to them. But that long sung part of "Oishii" in the chorus is extremely off-pitch (with some on-pitch layers under it).

      @@MaartenT I understand fans are divided when it comes to this. From my part, I know Japanese culture since childhood. I might not been there but Japan fulfilled my childhood from music, history to games etc.

      I am not sure that has anything to do with it to be honest, but I guess we can't say for sure until we see a comment from a Japanese person who doesn't like her vocals. I can't remember ever hearing anything like her vocals in Japanese media and while I have only been listening to Japanese rock and metal for 3 years (not counting extremer bands like Sigh, Coffins and Funeral Moth), I have been playing Japanese video games for a long time. I think it's just taste, there is nothing wrong with liking her vocals obviously. I am also in no way trying to diminish what Matsuri does for Hanabie. I am pretty sure she is the main (if not only) writer and chances are high Hanabie wouldn't have been a thing without her. She is most likely the person that pushed for the start of the band in their school club (not sure about that, just a gut feeling). She might actually be the member that would be the most difficult to replace and that is saying a lot because Yukina's vocals are pretty unique.

    Eric isn't wrong. Matsuri wasn't a great Vocalist in the beginning. But she plays guitar too. So whatever. She's definitely improved.

      @@alexander_sinclair well. I don't think it's an insult to say that Corey Taylor is a better vocalist than James Hettfield. James plays guitar. Corey Taylor is a specialist.

    Its a common japanese tonation in the music from there. That has to be taken into account. Western bias lol

      It's true, some of the fans just doesn't know more about Japanese music.

    • @MaartenT
      @MaartenT 6 місяців тому

      I am mainly basing myself on that she is clearly off-pitch (not fitting the key at least) in places (with on-pitch backing tracks under it) and her pretty poor performances in the couple of livestreamed rehearsals they did a couple of years ago. I have no doubt she has gotten a lot better vocally, but Hetssu's backing vocals live sounded way more on pitch and better (to me) than Matsuri's at that point. I actually think Hetssu should get more opportunities to sing. That said, it depended on the song, Matsuri was pretty onpoint on We Love Sweets if I remember correctly, which leads me to believe it might have been a range issue, which might have been dealt with nowadays.
      I personally don't hear the more traditional Japanese vocals in her vocals to be honest (comparing to Yuko from Wagakki Band). I can hear the influence in Fuki's vocals, not really in Matsuri's but I guess it might be the bazillion of layers of different pitches in the production that is messing with me. And like I said in my reply to an other comment, it's also just a difference in taste. Not much you can do about that and nothing wrong with it either way. I have a lot of respect for Matsuri, I am just not a huge fan of her vocal style (and the production on her vocals).

    I might be in the minority for this opinion, but while i love the instrumetals and yukina vocals, i feel like Matsuri's vocals in this song are bad, it sounds like she's straining way to hard to reach a pitch she can't really maintain and just doesn't sound good imo.
