    If you roll them into an omaplota then you can use the very last part of instructions with the armbar finish. Still starting rubberguard but I can set up mission control and zombie so far

    This is incredibly effective, and I love it. But at 6 foot three and 40 years old with a history of lower back problems, my hips and knees have been bothering me lately too, and I just don’t have the flexibility or mobility for this. I stretch daily to try to increase those things, but I can’t even do simple rubber guard stuff due to my limitations. Pretty frustrating.

      Anony Mouse like in yoga, this is an advanced “pose” a position which yes, only with advanced mobility and strength can one make it to.

    Ive been doing BJJ for 2 semesters now and really gravitated towards rubber guard last couple of months (mainly thanks to you). My coaches always tell me that I shouldn't focus on rubber guard (everyone calls it pretty niche) and work more on getting the fundamentals down better (passing, takedowns, escapes, etc.) which makes complete sense, however, my question then is at what point would you suggest really committing to rubber guard? I feel like i've really found my game in rubber guard and I do want to get better at fundamentals but at the same time I want to commit to rubber guard.

    • @BenEddy
      @BenEddy 4 роки тому +7

      I understand both sides. Rubber Guard is pretty niche and it can be fundamental too. Niche in the sense that you completely don’t need it. Fundamental in the sense that it can be your full guard game, and full guard can and could be a fundamental part of your bjj. Even full guard though doesn’t have to be much or at all apart of anyone’s bjj game. So it is always niche. But for me, I have found more success with full guard than the back for example or mount. I can have a systematic approach that works with the kind of energy I want to bring towards executing the movements. - I would say just have rubber guard in the back of your mind, as an end point. Feel out all the middle. Because the middle can be everywhere and anywhere. You could be on the back and then end up in full guard. So play positionially and with a good fundamental game as that continues to improve for you, and just feel how within that game, full guard is offered. When it is, take it, and app,y your rubber guard, get the reps in. Rubber guard should be offered anyway and not forced. It’s not the number one go to to, it’s the very strong second option. But what I mean by that is let’s say for example I am trying to pass guard and they sweep me, I see an opportunity for an overhook and shoot to rubber guard. I mean in this sense. As in, fight for some other move, some other end, then on all fails, take the fails to full guard / rubber. As it’s right in the middle and is usually there on the fail. On your opponent’s reaction to stop either your lower or upper body attack, 5ey give up the middle.

      Rubber guard is evolution to the guard. Much like bjj as whole is a evolution of judo based off techniques developed because of stature and physical attributes. Everyone that has made great contributions to this collective art we share. Has typically had a physical impingement that forced them to developed ideas and strategies typically thought of as fringe or outside the box. Its up to you build your personal style with the tools and techniques you drill and perfect. Don't limit yourself by being concerned with the opinions of others.

      true, it's been a year so i hope you have worked things out. when i stumbled across the rubber guard system, i thought this was perfect for me exactly cause i match eddy's body type. I am 1.72-3m and 70kg which is pretty close to his 1.75m and 75kg.

      Mushrooms. Helps put you in pure presence and ecstatic feeling / balance. If you can handle it.. also just a different perspective, not meant for long term. Just like meditation, everything is done to learn from and bring back to static sober state. 👌❤️
