The old cars were classy, each had their own tail lights, fins, windows etc. Not like todays generic outsides. Stay safe & thank you for all you guys do for others.
You mean the jelly bean cars they make today? They are just like opening a bag of jelly beans, no difference. I used to be able to tell you what year, make and style just by looking at the grill coming at you and the tail lights going away.
The car @14:20 is a 1951 Chevrolet 2 door hard top. That was the front fender trim you grabbed @ 16:32. 20:54 is a 59 Ford @25:52 that is the hood, not the trunk, you called the tail light the headlight and vice versa. Amazingly, you got the Ford right in the thumbnail!
The last one did look like a 59, I have a couple friends who each have a 1958 Ford Fairlane with the dual headlights . The 58 would have dual taillights also
The 1st car is a 1951 Chevrolet Styleline 2dr Deluxe (I have a '50 2dr sitting in my backyard). 2nd car you dove on was not a '57 New Yorker like someone said, it was in fact an old Ford, I can tell right away by the rear quarter panel taillight section. It is actually a 1959 Ford Fairlane Galaxie. The fact that you said the trunk opens backwards tells me it could be a very rare Skyliner model (convertible hardtop), but highly unlikely its a Skyliner, that to me looks like the hood, it opens the opposite direction on those cars. The 2 red lenses side by side are actually the headlights which have turned red over the years from the silt/sand. The dead giveaway is the rear quarter panel section @ 20:50-20:51 and with the chrome trim on top of the rear quarter, how the small quarter panel light housing is ontop thats the reverse light panel and beneath it the big round taillights on both sides, you see it there and @ 26:20, thats the signature '59 Fairlane Galaxie big round taillights.
Guys I love your channels n appreciate allllll the massive work and expense you both put into them. I beg just one favor -- organize all your equipment in all the boats and vehicles you use. Just take a day and do it all TOGETHER and memorize where things are put- preferably into totes, milk crates etc. in a life or death emergency event, youre gonna wanna be able to lay hands on exactly the item you need in a split seconds notice- not have to dig through a jumble of ropes and things--- please ! I see others asking you to clean it up and organize it. I echo their sentiment because i care. Thanks for everything. Praying for your continued safety.
I'm shocked at the amount of waterways where cars could be . Helping others is helping our selves , mental health ect Good works guys From England 🏴 🇬🇧
I used to repair the communication boxes for the Geoduck divers. The biggest thing to keep them working is to replace the waterproof switch covers if they get damaged. Otherwise I replaced a lot of switches and covers as the salt water played hob with them when they didn't replace the waterproof switch covers. IIRC, that was like 90% of the repairs.
Last cars a Ford I think. I had one in red at one time. I remember the lights. Great video guys. I love seeing the old cars. You guys are great. Praying times trun around for you. I agree with some others though, could you get some totes to put equipment in on boat, I won't say anything again. Thank you again for video.
The one might be an old Ford Skyliner, especially if the trunk opened backwards. The Skyliner was a retractable hard top convertible and the trunk lid flipped back to stow the top.
Just a suggestion, you might want to stop and look around at old car junk gards, you might be able to recognize older cars. Taillights are definitely different on older cars.
They can study online pics much easier to familiarize themselves with older makes and models. The new cvehicles all look the same, that's a lot tougher! 😊
@kevinshiley9061 the only problem with looking at the photos is that with 0 visibility in the water they won't know the feel of the tailights. Big difference. But then again you never know.
I drive that road along side that lake alot with a semi truck. Many places a car can go off the road into the water. Don't forget that newer cars in the water are harder to find than older ones on the sonar.
U guys are brilliant.. I honestly hope ure luck changes and u can both carry on with what u do best, looking for missing people under water...The goverment are mean not helping ure finances when u clean up the rivers and pull the cars out...UK
The one that the trunk opened backwards. Looked like a 57 ford galaxy with the retractable hard top. My dad had one back in the days. Hard top comes up and fold and retracts into the trunk
The 2nd one with the rounded windows I was thinking a Cadillac but Nomads I think had similar windows. The last car looked like 65? Ford galaxy tail light.
The third car is a 1959 Galaxie or Fairlane. I was able to identify it by the tail light and the backwards opening hood. That is a cool car! Not completely sure about the first two though.
if wearing a wet suit in cold water . you know what feels good, just wash the wet suit and you are good to go. i used to dive lake Laneir in the winter back in 1977
Your description of the taillights being round and the trunk opening backwards definitely sounds like an old late 50's early 60's Ford Fairlane hardtop convertible. Hood goes mechanical back in the trunk. Woulld be a very, VERY valuable collector car.
Hi, Adam and Jeremy. I don't think most of us could even guess as to the amount of dedicated time, money and effort has gone into the ongoing search for John Boyd. Sure, you find vehicles for possible recovery later and not finding his car means another body of water you can mark as cleared, but it must dampen your spirits a little every time a car is not your target vehicle. Anyway, great job, you guys. I wonder if the Delux trim piece would be worth any money (??). Thanks for sharing. Stay healthy and safe, you guys 👍 P.S. Adam, I was really happy to find out that your new drysuit had finally arrived 🎊😃
No its not. It is a 1959 Ford Fairlane Galaxie. Look at 26:20 mark at those big round taillights, and compare to the '59 Fairlane Galaxie.. Also look at the rear section at 20:50-20:51, you can see the tail section where the small reverse light would have been and the big round taillight still present below it. Very very far from a '57 New Yorker, not even close..
@ProjectRescues, that's exactly what that car appears to be, has the fin area lights above the taillights and the fender shape around the top of the headlights is a match , unless someone insurance scammed on an old car collection years after they were new, if not these cars were probably here since almost new or the late 60s hopefully nobody is in any of them. Sad ending of the cars
Very cool diving the old classic, especially the last one; I may be wrong, but you might have stumbled across a 1958 Ford Fairlane because the have reverse open trunk and hood, round double lights, fin running down side to back, and small window. Old classics bumpers made of steel so would be cool if able to salvage a few good parts off of it. 😊❤
That last one looks like a Thunderbird. You had the wrong ends, the two round lights wer3 headlights, the pointy ones were rear lights. The hood on those opened forward.
Hello there. The car that you are looking at is a mercy montego or monterrey. The year of the car is between the .year of the 1958 and 1965. They both have a hood that opens to the front of the car.
Hour rule should apply per day. Tomorrow for the other cars. 100 feet really isn't that bad. But I always dive w a buddy.. thats just me. But I know many lone seawolves... so glad u have your transistor for communication
@26:00 - the car with a trunk that opened backwards sounds like it could have been a rumble seat not the trunk...common in some cars from the late 30's and early 40's...you found some very cool oldies!
That was a 58 or slightly newer second car. Flip forward hood. 1958 was the first year of double headlights. My dad could tell ya every one. But I think late 50’s
The 3rd car you dove that you called a cool classic car was a 1958 Ford Fairlane 500. The rear is actually the front. Duel head lights. Single round tail light with a smaller backup light on the tail fin. The hood on these cars opened backwards. Hinged up by the head lights. I used to own one and they were a great boat of a car. Mine was a yellow over black, Very common paint scheme in the 57-59.
@@ProjectRescues You may be right. I would have to dig out some pictures to verify what I had. I had the one like was in the water though. Been a long time since I owned it. 1970 or71 when I had it. I know it had the Y-block engine.
@@David_Air_Force_Vet I know I'm right. Look up '59 Fairlane Galaxie's and look at the rear section of the car. Everything from the chrome trim on top of the tail section to the small reverse light and below it the large round taillight, you can see them clearly in the video @20:50-20:51. Yes, they came with Y block v8's. Good engines, I'm thinking about putting one in my '36 Ford sedan.
When you find a classic get a good picof the taillight. That is how we back in the day could identify. They even had the year on the vehicle's. They didn't even use plastic til after 1957
Good morning Adam and Jeremy. That visibility or lack thereof would freak me right out. Glad you two are the divers. I would be okay up top. You are correct on both, however the '51 is a 4dr deluxe.
You noticed this and you were not even there, well done.
The last one did look like a 59, I have a couple friends who each have a 1958 Ford Fairlane with the dual headlights . The 58 would have dual taillights also
@@ProjectRescues The 4 door never had that back window, only the 2 door hard top.
@@troychristiansen1755 Correct, I also have a few 59's (and used to have a 58)

that´s so true, youre completely right
recognized it immediatly
That would be awesome to see those old school cars brought up.

Wow that was great seeing the old car
The only car line I know of that was a "deluxe" (actual model name) is a pre-1952 Chevy.
What a cool video. Would love to find out the cack story on how they all ended up there.
The one might be an old Ford Skyliner, especially if the trunk opened backwards. The Skyliner was a retractable hard top convertible and the trunk lid flipped back to stow the top.
Trim looks like it may be from a 1951 Chevy.

All the cars I have seen that the trunk lid opens backwards are the hard to convertibles that store the hard top in the trunk.
Float the last classic (if you can) - will certainly bring in the views and some parts cash too (+ your magnet...).
I think the first one was a mid-late 50`s Tri-Chevy, the second I think was a 60`s Thunderbird?
Your description of the taillights being round and the trunk opening backwards definitely sounds like an old late 50's early 60's Ford Fairlane hardtop convertible. Hood goes mechanical back in the trunk. Woulld be a very, VERY valuable collector car.
Wouldn't be too good in that water though
Has anyone mentioned to Adam to look at the quarter panels for car names, model, etc. or even the hubcap you touched then didn't bother to look at.
Nice clearer video i thought but when things are deep and cold it sucks.
Pity about the magnet you lost and cheers for searching.
59 Ford retractable top hardtop convertible. The first one looks like a 49 Chevy station wagon deluxe I couldn’t tell for sure.
I'm not sure if its the Skyliner or not, I think that might just be the hood, which also opens opposite direction.

That chrome piece was off a Chevy Deluxe... probably 49-51 since it still had the split windshield.
Iove the work you do but organize the boat
Y'all need to cut the windshield out and mount it on hinges so you can push it open and get a breeze through the cabin 👍

You may have stumbled upon someone's old moonshine cars, an old dumping ground.
With so many classic cars dumped in water so close together, I suspect stolen, maybe stripped for parts that are no longer available and then dumped.
If the trunk opens backwards it’s a 57 to 59 ford.
The last one might have been a Ford Thunderbird
