This was a great video. I live in a 100 year old house, and believe me, it's cold in here! One thought I had...I am home a lot and tweak the thermostat as I go. I tried a programmable thermostat and found it confusing and not nearly as responsive as my own fiddling with it, lol. I'm sure people who follow a consistent schedule could benefit, but I'm not sure everyone needs one. Just my two cents. Again, thanks for the great diy ideas! I will definitely be trying some of them!

I recommend covering AC units when not in use. We have a non working one in the wall of our apartment and I stuffed it with bubble mailers to stop the cold winter air coming through it. You can buy special AC covers that go on the outside if you have a working unit and want to insulate it over the winter.

External window cover i.e. shutters. It's great against cold and warmth. Lots of wool rugs during winter insulate and keep the floor warm. Built-in synthetic carpet is not the same and also expelles microplastic.

My partner just moved onto a 100 year old apartment... There have been moisture issues due to condensation around the bay windows causing mold. There have ONLY been moisture issues in poorly insulated areas, where the wall gets cold spots. And the landlord goes on a rant about how excessively insulated homes are unhealthy due to trapped moisture and his solution is to ask us to keep the gap under the front door open to encourage drafts, maybe add more ventilation by putting an extra hole in the wall with a vent plate, keeping the window open when we cook even if it's 0°c outside, avoid adding additional insulation at all costs, keeping the shutters open all the time so the place can "breathe", not closing the curtains in front of the (really drafty) window, and keep the thermostat on at 21°c, 24/7, (including when we sleep and when there's no one home). I wish people didn't have to deal with landlords and were allowed to actually improve their homes!
