It’s so nice to hear someone say good stuff about Bakersfield, I just moved to Bakersfield 9 months ago and mostly everyone that I know that lives here complains about everything. So far moving here has been good for me. It does get hot but you learn how to deal with it, not too bad

As far as affordability goes you can’t beat it! One of the most affordable cities to live in California. Just might take some getting use to...lol but I love it here!! Been here my whole life and couldn’t imagine living anywhere else!

@@marlaindouri402 Bakersfield has poor air quality. We are an agricultural and oil industry hub. The air is filled with VOCs. There is also valley fever here, which is a respiratory illness that can be fatal.

+Not_RaccoonRicky at certain times of the year (usually late summer) it can be higher on the AQI (air quality index), but its not aalllll year. During those times, you just limit the time that the littles and elderly are outside.

Hey I’m coming in from Louisiana I have family in Los Angeles and Laguna beach and those nice areas I came to Bakersfield with my mom I loved the place nice place we got a nice house and a good area really excited is it true the air quality is bad I’m pretty use to it I’ve always loved Califorina one stupid question though do you guys have a lot of tech stores and stuff like that I had a family member from Beverly hills saying this a good place I just really love tech stuff I build computers so

People making not so many jokes of Bakersfield as before.... Some say it's still boring. Well let's see in a few years who has the last laugh. Regarding day trips it's a good point to mention that most people just work during the week so having LA and San Francisco and other places within weekend reach its a great plus considering all you save in rent compared to the rest of California.

Bakersfield is CHEAP compared to the rest of California. Like dirt cheap and very close to Socal. I predict its going to be booming very very soon as more people get fed up with the psychopathic living costs of LA. Its only an hour and a half drive to the beaches too, so u get the best of both worlds without having to pay huge LA prices.

Not in town. In the Vally by the Kern River and also on the Grapevine. 🙂

Thanks for the info-- Looking on various sites like Neighborhood scout reveals that the crime rate is really bad. For example, Los Angeles gets a bad rating of 12 but Bakersfield gets a 5. That is a 5 out of 100, 100 being the safest place to live. That concerns me. I am not sure if you will be honest but if I do move out there, what areas are the worst, in terms of crime and what areas are the best in terms of crime.

On a limited level, yes, I believe it is. ‘Rona has made everything change size and scope, but when we drive by the center there are giant tru is in the loading bays. Not all of them, but a lot of them. Hope that helps!

let me say what bed room eyes you have , but you did leave out the soul of Bakersfield and that's the dustbowl migrants that built kern county and they help win a war at the same time and they did this with no overtime pay no vacation pay no 40 hour work week no unemployment checks . it was 12 hours a day 6 days a week no sick time no labor department no unions , my mother picked cotton at 60 cents a hour, please never forget the sacrifice and contribution that the dust bowl migrants gave to the san Joaquin valley it was grown from the seeds of the dustbowl , my grandparents were dustbowl migrants and I am proud of that , I am getting ready to retire and who knows maybe I will come back to the city of my birth dam I could sell my home in Seattle and cash out on a home in Bakersfield. I would be close to my grandparents Charles and Elizabeth cardwell who now reside at Shafter memorial park , wonder how a pro labor democrat' would do in kern county . thanks for the post if I do buy home it would be from you . thank god the ridge route is gone , beautiful eyes by the way
