Nice. I have the Catrike Trail and fold to transport in my Jeep. I also need to pay attention to what gear I am in when folding. Thanks for the vid. Maybe someday I will get a rack, but I've got a very large tire mounted on the Jeep that interferes with hitch mounts that don't set back far enough.
I have a Catrike 559 that I fold to stuff into my Yaris, mostly to take it to the shop. I would add the following comment, put your chain into the lowest (smallest) derailleur gears, with the shift levers parallel to the deck so the trike can fit into the car with the rear derailleur up.
It may be a tight squeeze for a back seat depending on the space! Some manufacturers, like Catrike, provide folded dimensions so you can measure your back seat to see if it would fit.
Folding an ICE Adventure is a pain since the seat has to come off. If it has a rear rack, it won’t fold nearly as flat. Once it’s folded, it very awkward to pick up. I’m glad it folds, but it’s so much easier to transport an electric bike on a rack.
On my ICE trike I went with the Topeak rack which let's the trike fold a little easier than the ICE rack. I agree folding can be a pain some times, that's why I love having an SUV :)
I am part of that statistic. I felt safer putting trike in my SUV vs a rack. Made sure Catrike dumont fit in trunk but then later decided on ecat dumont. Now it did not fit without taking off eAssist. Also e assist made bike heavier and not only could I not lift it into SUV but also could not lift it to fold it. So I got a draftmaster. Still can’t lift trike on there without help. I think some day when I can afford it easy loader with ramps is right move but they are heavy and hard to stow. Or find a SUV that allows ecat dumont to fit without folding. Haven’t seen any yet though.
The 559 folds but it fits w/o having to fold. I can’t fold it by myself and can’t get it in the car by myself.. working getting ramps so hoping I can push it up in. Just need to get ramps long enough so the pitch isn’t too steep. Good luck 😊
I don’t totally agree. I have a 559! and a Toyota Yaris. With the back seats folded down and the trike folded it fits easily. Unfolded it fits with the back wheel forward and with the hatch open, good only for very short trips. Let’s face it, trikes take up a lot of room and compared to a bicycle are pretty complicated machines, and I need to take mine to the bike shop often enough so that transportability is an issue. Also, for heaven’s sake, make sure your chain is on the small chain rings!
Good notes. Yes, Trikes will fit in hatchbacks pretty easy. In the video we mention they don't fit in trunks well, like a Toyota Camry. Putting the chain in the small ring is good to remember. Thanks for the comment. Cheers!

That is tip! Thanks for contributing. Keep on riding :)

Get the specs on ford edge.. eCat 559 fits

You never mentioned putting it on top of your car almost never see any images, I have not had to fold mine yet!
Check out our "Transporting Two Trikes" video where we show a trike on the car roof.
