    Yes,yes!! This is what I love to do. Working for a convenience store for 12 years, ordering and receiving back then, was more time consuming without the scanning equipment. This sounds exciting and fun to me. I think I would love it.
    Part time is good, and willing to work extra hours if needed, anytime.

    Hi..
    The process is good standardized and easy for the employee to perform their task. But If I am allowed, I would like to suggest some more things, which could make this task more efficient. For example, instead of having the employee move here and there, if you could have set up the trolley near to the inbound box, you could have avoid those unnecessary movements. Or you can move the box directly to the location with the help of mobile station and do the booking. You can avoid those movements and touches involve in this process.
    I beleive continous process improvement is to set your process capabilities to ensure the future demand.

    Hi guys, from the PO receiving screen you are scanning the receiving cart 12 barcode when the box is full of product. Is the receiving cart barcode scan automatically recognised as a location transfer to a non pickable location or is there another step to configure that. Thanks

    Good process.
    I am working to improve the receiving process where I work at.
    We received a lot pallets of different garments products or in bulk. My strategy is to use a mobil thermal printer and enforce a different box labeling UPC barcode on each box that contains information of the product inside and Qty. That way it will allow the team to label the inventory that's it's been received right on the spot.
    Hope it makes sense my idea

      Good idea! And also print the location on your label maybe? When we receive we print out a scannable label that contains the warehouse number, part, qty, customer and/job. Then scan that into a position in the warehouse.

    great video! I wonder if you have any example for inventory management for a SLABS inventory for a natural stone shop?

    • @ShipHero
      @ShipHero  Рік тому

      Great question. So like large slabs of stone and managing that inventory? That would be really heavy but I believe it would be just like any other inventory managed through ShipHero software. Custom flows would allow you to store, manage, track, and pick + pack larger and heavier inventory items.

    Great video thanks. When Russell scans the product into Receiving-Cart-12 box and then transfers all product from Receiving-Cart-12 box onto a new shelf location, the physical cardboard box still has the sticker Receiving-Cart-12 on the side but now it's a pickable location on a shelf. With the empty box you've just taken off the shelf, do you then add a new Receiving-Cart-12 sticker to that box? Hope that makes sense.

    • @ShipHero
      @ShipHero  3 роки тому +1

      You can put a new sticker on the empty box that was removed, it should not be the same location name.
      The location sticker on the box is mainly only used for transferring, it’s not a pickable location. The shelf location is the pickable location and that’s where pickers would be directed to.

    When the product comes in does it matter what kind of barcode needs to be on the package or does it needs to be pre determined for your system?

    • @ShipHero
      @ShipHero  3 роки тому

      Hey Lance! We do need to scan the items in (reduces errors and keeps the process speedy). We can receive cases (barcode on a box of items, as long as those items in the box are the same SKU), or barcodes directly on the products - you can enter whatever barcode are on the products in your fulfillment dashboard, so if they already have barcodes you can use those. Best thing to do is chat with the support team, they'll work with you directly.

    If the product you receive from the manufacturer doesn't have sku labels and need to apply your own. What is the most efficient way of doing so? Is it all manual? Can't seem to find any info on this.

    • @ShipHero
      @ShipHero  3 роки тому

      Hey Luis, fantastic question. No magical solution unfortunately, however, couple of options. You can barcode the case pack (box of) - this requires less barcoding, however, this will be at more risk of error when picking and packing individual items (why we won't do that). Outside of then placing a barcode on each item, the other possibility is to use any existing barcode on the package / item - maybe if thats possible, of course you need to associate that barcode with the item in your WMS.
      Hoping that helps Luis! Thanks for the question.

    Awesome video, thank you for sharing!
    How is overstock handled? In a warehouse that big I assume most of the stock can be scanned straight into pick bins like in the video (I assume these are pick bins). Do you keep the overstock in the cases it was received in?

    • @ShipHero
      @ShipHero  3 роки тому +1

      Sir Peter, Nicholas here. Good question, and it depends on the items and how fast the product moves. If we have a slower moving SKU, it's better to receive and put away to pickable bins, with overstock placed in non-pickable bins (we use the dynamic slotting feature which allows for management of pick bins, priority of those bins and if they're pickable or not). For faster moving SKUs, we will receive into pickable bins, with overstock remaining on the pallet - unless it needs to be secured. In some cases, if we're processing many orders in bulk for a SKU, we may skip put away into bin entirely, and locate the pallet near the pack station and set that as a pickable location.
      Hopefully some of that makes sense! Thank you for asking :)

    One thing i've noticed, and is complete unnecessary in my opinion is the scan station. It involves so much both movement and time. Instead of scanning everything by the pc, you should have a portable scanner, so that when the goods arrive you just carry them direc tto the location (shelf) and scan them there. This way you save double as much time.

    • @dpsheals
      @dpsheals 2 роки тому

      True. But you may have to screen the product and do other stuff like contact the customer about it and you don’t want to put it away at that time. But you could do both. Asking as you’re doing it correctly

    this receiving station has a lot of wasteful movement which is detrimental, not only to put-away speed, but also the health of the worker.

    • @athickie
      @athickie Рік тому

      How would you improve

    • @rokpodlogar6062
      @rokpodlogar6062 Рік тому +2

      @@athickie It's probably all been done before and in much better way than I can ever improve it. But some general guidelines would include less vertical movement (no bending down or reaching up, keep it on a height of the work table), the succession of steps in a process with no waste movements (for instance, in this video the worker grabs a box on his left, then goes to a box of goods on his right and shuffles the products in that direction over and over. And by holding a hand scanner he is twisting his back as well. you could very well have a fixed scanner, put both boxes next to each other and move the products over it just like a cashier does in a store. All in all a simple conveyor (gravity fed or electrical) to feed in received goods to a station (desk) where a worker can then proceed to receive products into put away bins is the way I would go about with this kind of system. I would also compartmentalize warehouse jobs. Batch is the way to go when volume is the game.
