Bruh, I know the game tries to make us hate Hades from the very start, and I can see why considering how he treatex Zagreus., but holy hell the more I think about it he is one of the most reasonable god of the lot, aside from Athena maybe. Like... Zeus really did kidnap Persephone, Demeter sent the world in an ice age because of that, and in the same time, he really has a hell of a lot more "work" compared to anyone on Olympus. Plus that most of the others are either squabling, getting drunk, causing random wars and the like. I like the fact that he isn't the "bad guy", just a misunderstood, angry, strict father that has a lot to deal with, including a son that mostly does what he wants.
It's not hate so much as Zagreus trying to find a purpose in life and Hades being completely and utterly dissapointed in him (for a reason -- Zagreus didn't do well tasks assigned to him) to the point that most of the time his only response to anything Zagreus does is bringing him down in the most petty manner. It takes two people to mend this is kind of situation, and Hades is the one more unwilling to do so. But both of them certainly have enough reasons to act the way they do
Yeah in the original Mythology zeus didn't send persephone and hades did kidnap her, she did eventually come to love him but considering that is the worst thing hades ever did in greek myth he still remains the nicest of all the gods. Hera for example wiped out the indigenous population of an island with a tidal wave just because zeus tried to hide one of his bastard sons there.
I'm pretty sure the art of Hades looking to the side is completely unique to this conversation, he's usually so stoic and blunt but had a reason to be visibly uncomfortable here and they went whole hog on it for something many players won't even discover for a while
"You know nothing of tempers if mine is your frame of reference..." That...that disturbs me if Hades has met people even he thought were tempermental, but then again given his family when they're ready, and he was known for being the most fair of the gods.
They even show that during gameplay where certain rooms have two boons and after you pick the first one, the other gets buthurt that they didn't get first pick and try to hamper you in the encounter. And that was when they WERE TRYING TO HELP YOU
He was build over poseidon, in the beggining they where the same god , he had ties with the underworld(poseidon) also zagreus was also an underworld god that resurrected into dionisus and was supposed to take zeus throne after he grew old .
I am *FLOORED* by how myth-accurate that explanation is. I'm not used to people acknowledging that the whole "kidnapping Persephone" thing wasn't Hades' fault.
there's different versions of the myth is the reason. also it is a myth about greek gods so to say he/she is at fault is kinda already a fallacy. the bards tell us one thing we remember another and thus mythology is born
It's not actually myth-accurate at all - the earliest source we have of the Persephone & Hades myth is the Homeric Hymn to Demeter, which very explicitly states: "[Hades] seized [Persephone] against her will, put her on his golden chariot, And drove away as she wept." (transl. Gregory Nagy) So kidnapping Persephone was 100% Hades' fault, and as far as I know all the Graeco-Roman sources we have for the myth state that this is the case. I understand the desire to make the Persephone/Hades "romance" more palatable to modern audiences, but it's completely inaccurate to say it's anything but a whitewashed retelling of the actual myth. (Sorry if I sound a bit harsh, this is just a misconception I've seen way too often so I thought I'd set the record straight! I can go into more detail about the Homeric Hymn if you're interested, it's a personal fave of mine.)

@@lucasAA927 whe don't know that for sure, whe only know the rest of the gods are bi because they think with their dicks all the time, Hades being an exception.
I love how accurate this is. Hades is one of the Olympians who not only takes his job seriously but also is a pretty decent person. Zeus basically impregnates any woman he thinks is hot, throws hissy fits when his ego is threatened and casually causes continental disasters Hera constantly hunts down her husband's bastard children and makes it her mission to make their lives a living hell. The most famous example being Heracles where she basically drove him mad and had him kill his own wife and kids. Not to mention she's hella petty. Poseidon is SLIGHTLY more chill than Zeus, still his list of bad deeds is almost as long as his. Aphrodite casually murders anyone who MIGHT be prettier than her or she doesn't like. Calling herself the "jealous type" is an understatement Ares and Athena are constantly in a pissing contest with each other with the lives of mortals being lost in the process. Although they're both gods of war so they kinda get a pass. Demeter throws hissy fits cause she doesn't get to see Persephone and threatens to leave the world in ice if she doesn't come to see her at least for half a year, EVERY YEAR Dyonisus is basically the drunk uncle whose parties range from harmless fun to full blown city destroying clusterfucks...literally... Hades was said to be loyal and respectful towards Persophone, never betraying her (unlike zeus) and letting her go visit her mother, Demetria, the goddess of bountiful harvests, during spring and summer. It is said the periods when Persephone was on the underworld was a great sorrow for Demetria, this is why she doesn't work on Earth during winter and autumn.
And normally. Hades don't allow the death to return to the living realm. But when Persephone beg he to let Orpheus's wife return. Hades break his own law and let she go for Persephone. Eventhough it's end badly. I still think Hades is very sweet to his wife.
To be completely exact: Persephone is with Hades during Winter and spring. Demeter is happy in summer because persephone is with her and she gets sad that persephone will soon leave during autumn. She is alone and devastated during winter and she gets excited that persephone will soon return during spring.
@@tychoderkommentator2989 Persephone eat 3 pomegranate seeds that make she have to stay at the underworld for 3 months each years (winter). She return at spring each years that make Demeter happy and fill the world with green again.
Hades did almost cheated on Persephone once actually. It's mostly just flirting and gifts giving nothing like sleeping with them. Persephone turned her into a garden mint. Hades had a lover before Persephone though called Leuce, she died of old age and was turned into a tree by Hades to memorialize her.
The amount of love for Hades from mythology is honestly refreshing. So many times he's a villain in pop-culture bc he's "the King of the Underworld" so "tHaT mUsT mEaN hE's BAD". He was arguably the nicest of the Gods and definitely among the Major Ones- I mean when the competition is Zeus, Poseidon, etc. it's not that hard to NOT look like an awful person. Hades had a functional, healthy relationship with his wife. He often offered help to those who asked for it- he literally told Heracles that he can take Cerberus for one of his tasks but he has to bring him back (and on the topic of Hades' pup, Cerberus comes from Greek Kerberos which literally can be translated as Spotted so Hades named his dog Spot and that's the only translation I consider canon!). There is only one myth I know of where Hades is "the villain" but considering the fact that our "hero" wanted to kidnap and marry Persephone in this one... Is He really?
I like this interpretation of the story of Persephone and Hades. Hades doesn’t kidnap Persephone, he’s dragged into the Olympian drama of Zeus, and is forced to defuse this awkward situation with Persephone. Both Persephone and Hades probably felt pity for each other, and Persephone chose to stay with Hades after bonding with one another. Then they eventually developed their mutual friendship into something romantic, and Zagreus came to be
I think Persephone herself kind of longing for certain level of freedom. Demeter after all is strict mother. She is kind but only let her hang with certain creature and people (but it's kind if understandable considering what happen between her and Zeus). So when she's being kidnapped, pretty sure she's afraid, but this dude showers her with gift? He has dogs?? He let her rule equal like him? He has dogs??? (Cerberus is important, okay). Persephone kind of dig the free lifestyle?
Not actually too far off from the most complete version of the myth in the Hymn to Demeter, where Hades kidnapped Persephone because Zeus said he could without telling Demeter. It was an arranged marriage as far as Greek society at the time was concerned, and Zeus was given the blame for most of the shit in the story, aside from Hades having Persephone eat some pomegranate seeds. They certainly did like each other after the marriage, but she didn't have eyes for Hades, as far as anyone can tell. Maybe she did, but it was never stated. Considering prior to this story, Persephone was nothing but the Queen of the Underworld, there is a chance she did want Hades, but probably didn't consent so much to the kidnapping thing.
there's a line you can get from Zeus earlier in the game where he says "hey nephew, you're my brother and Nyx's son right? I guess that's as close as a queen he can get down there, I tried to match him up with a more wholesome type but oh well"
OK the idea that nobody in this version of the Persephone myth was outright mailcious is FASCINATING! Even Zeus wasn't doing it to be cruel but bc he assumed it was a win win for two unhappy people and didn't stop to consider their consent. Its the same sort of obliviously chaotic, mood swinging cheery rudeness we've learnt to expect from his interactions with Zagreus. Then bc that created a messy situation for all of them, they had to hide it, leading to Demeter not knowing where her daughter even was, her endless winter and distant demeanour brought on by MOURNING Persephone, while the goddess in question was struggling with her own unhappiness on Olympics, love for her husband and grief for the first loss she'd ever experienced being her own child. Things escalated bc of personal drama among a disastrous, powerful family who don't know what they're doing any better than normal people we as players know, and it's so much fun to humanise them in this was while still having so much fun with the unique perspective their godhood gives them on life and the world e.g. Death being a mild inconvenience
Well, theres a lot going on in hell and hades gotta keep it in check. The others, literally everyone else? has quite a bit of time to spare and start shit with themselves and mortals. Not to mention every death other gods rack up all add to hades. More reasons to keep hades busy
I am utterly shocked that the Greece god of the underworld is one of, if not best gods overall in the entire mythos. I mean sure he has flaws but compared to the rest of his godly “family” they pale in comparison to what they’ve done.
Hades was one of the kindest, most reasonable and most responsible deities in the pantheon. He did a thankless job that the other gods found to be unsightly and that mortals cursed him for. He was the first born son that got cheated out of his birthright but he wasn't resentful about it. He was faithful to his spouse while the other gods weren't. He wasn't petty and while he was stern, he was also fair.
@@yojimarusilverfang Hestia is pretty up there too, but the problem with her is that her stories and myths were so ubiquitous to the people of Greece at the time, they were never recorded. This is one of the best/more accurate representations of Hades in fiction. He’s very stern, takes his job seriously, and hates the Olympian gods for pretty valid reasons. Just because he’s god of the underworld doesn’t make him a blindly evil villain.
Hades is so even-tempered because unlike most of his family that gets to loaf around in the lap of luxury on Olympus, Hades has an actual job, with tremendous responsibilities, that requires his utmost attention.
According to the myth, hades is angry at Zeus because Zeus tricked hades into being confined to the underworld. Honestly, I’d be pretty mad if someone did that to me
And the worst part is that it's a shit job that someone HAS to do, as in it's literally required in order for the world to function normally without everyone who died coming back for vengies.
Well, it's not "confined", but rather he got the underworld when by being the oldest of the brothers he should had the sky, nay, THE COSMOS, for kingdom. But to be frank, better a Hades to reign over the underworld than any of the other two.
On one hand, that was indeed a colossal dick move of Zeus to do to Hades. On the other hand, Hades is the only god sane and responsible enough to actually manage the underworld as it needs to be. If Zeus was the one to do it instead, the place would explode from sheer negligence.
I like how there was a bit of hostility when he said “gift”, as if just by calling Pesphone that was like treating her more like a object for Hades to do what he pleased instead of a woman, and knowing Zeus that’s probably what he was also thinking too.
Awwww, Hades just gets better and better with every clip. I'm glad their relationship is better now and he's being decent for a change. You'd think this would be the most difficult thing to get out of him, even after the multiple endings but he's finally opened up enough to speak about it, even if he has to skulk to the dark of the garden to do it. 😂😄
Hades may actually be the wisest of his whole family. Any damage Zeus, ares, Athena, poseidon, and many others do on the surface are sent to him after they die. Thats a whole lot of work, his brothers are egomaniacs.
When people call Hades the nicest god, its not cause we're ignoring stories that tell of his bad deeds. Its cause those stories are so few and those few have so many good and bad versions to such a degree we cant be sure which one is definitive. Compare that to the gods who have definitively done ALOT of subjectively terrible stuff to the point whole wars were fought because of it. Hades is harmless unless you find one of 3 versions of him that tells you he did a bad thing that was probably popularized during a famine.
Every other Greek pantheon god's list of horrific things they did: *a scroll that goes on for a concerningly long length* Hades' scroll of horrific things he did: *is a sticky note at longest*
Lol, everyone shitting on Zeus but i think he genuinely thought he was doing a nice thing for his brother. Of course, he did in the most Zeus way and pissed off Hades and caused Demeter to go postal. Its refreshing, instead of Zeus flat being a douche, he a douche who had good intentions. The best thing about Hades is that its threat its characters like real people who flawed rather than caricatures. There's no villain, everyone just flawed, stubborn, egoistic in their own including Zags
Hades shows that we definitely can mistake attitude for kindness. Hades can be dour and passive-aggressive, but he's by no means cruel or inconsiderate. We just simply tend to read crabby people as naturally rude or hateful, not really accounting how tired they might just be -- especially with Hades being the level-headed one and yet treated like the black sheep
What I like about this retcon to the myth is that it keeps the originals spirit alive, in the original Hymn to Demeter (where the story comes from) it places all the blame on Zeus even though Hades does the physical kidnapping, the hymn goes out of its way to absolve Hades of guilt for everything except the pomegranate nonsense
Hades is the only Olympian a genuinely like. His punishments are less about ego and more about setting an import example. They guy who roles a boulder up a hill everyday got punished because he left the underworld while dead. This action upsets a balance that is extremely important. Both life and death have an important function. It makes sense that such an extreme act was met with a fitting punishment. Plus, I genuinely want a story where Zeus gets castrated.

I love how the comments are mostly discussions of greek myth and it‘s many confusing aspects. This game has rekindled former greek myth nerd kid‘s passion and I am here for it!
Honestly, the fact that they use such an obscure god as the protagonist AND make fun of some interpretations by having him and Dionysus make up his origin story as a prank is an incredibly clever joke that not a lot of people would even get without research. I love the writing in this game
To everyone in the comments saying this isn’t how the myth goes, remember that there are literally thousands, possibly tens of thousands of Greek myth variants, with pretty much every single situation that ever happens having dozens of variants that can be wildly different.
In the myth, Zeus tells Hades if he likes Persephone so much just take her, which he does... Demeter goes into apathy and secludes herself from the world, which stops everything from growing (goddess of agriculture and all that). Hades agrees to have Persephone live on the surface for half a year with her mother and the other half in the underworld where he will love her and whilst there "she will be treated as the Queen of Queens" (quote from OverlySarcasticProductions). And this is why we have winter children.
Hades is a cool guy in the game but most problems he had with Zagreous were really of his own making. If he told his son the truth when he came out of age it all could turn differently. On the other hand perhaps Zagreous would never find Persephone nor have motivation to go and try to look after her/surface.
It’s funny that, going into this game knowing fuck all about the Greek gods and their myths, Hades’ attitude would instantly make you go “man what a tight asshole. The other gods are so much better!”, but in reality the moment you see any of the Greek gods, except maybe Athena because she’s chill as far as I remember, it’s probably nefarious as fuck
The funny thing is that this isn't even a retcon to make the story of Hades and Persephone more palatable to a modern audience. Like...sure, his *reasoning* for doing it is as are many details, but even in the original myth Hades is explicitly absolved of all blame for the kidnapping and it's put entirely on Zeus. He ordered it, and as father of the bride (something that changed here for obvious reasons, hence changing the details to match) it was his right to trade her like that by contemporary norms.
I thought Hades was the one who kidnapped Persephone (at least that's what I learn in school) but then I remember that there are different variations of their stories so, shows you how much I know lol

And there the stations appear. "Hey, you, if you read this message, congratulations, you read a lot of text and that i write this in my phone, so anyway, i hope give you some explanation of some of the stuff based in the Hades game so goodbye."
It's neat that they put this in because it actually was more of an arranged marriage that was set up by Zeus, what with him being Persephones' father and all. Hades being the bad guy who kidnapped Persephone was a later add in. It was basically Zeus' fault. Also, probably one of the most civil conversations between Zagreus and Hades that I have seen.
My knowledge about Greek gods is limited to what I've heard from others. Disney did Hades dirty, but from what I know actual Greek mythology of the Pantheon is that Hades cared for everyone who entered his realm, though he didn't approve of anyone leaving for any reason. It would be nice to have a VR world of each realm to visit. Not from anything already established in other games or movies, but based on the architecture of the past while looking more modern the more you were further away from where Hades resided.
If Zues was the one who mainly helped Persephone get into the Underworld then he already knew that Zagreus was the child of Hades and Persephone?, so he's just afraid to see Demeter crack because of what he did
In the myth Demeter nearly starved the entire world by stopping plant life from growing after learning Zeus had basically approved of Hades taking her daughter. He has ever reason to fear her.
I like that hades is the nicest out of all the Olympian gods but every other media portrays him as this demonic ruler of hell that eats souls for breakfast lunch and dinner.
I find this funny given I'd fear Hera or Demeter more if you're in their crosshairs. Hera because if Zeus happens to find you sexy, if you're a woman that is. And Demeter because, trees, don't fuck with the trees. Especially if that tree happens to be her favorite druid. Granted Zeg probably already knows about his Aunts mean streaks. But since Zeus is the King of the Gods. He will just as easily fuck you over as well.

Pretty much every Greek myth, especially the widely known ones have all kinds of variants. Even back during the time when Ancient Greece actively worshipped these gods, people would just make up new versions of older stories or even whole new stories. I’m pretty sure that Zeus taking Persephone and giving her to Hades is a legit version of the myth, and even if it’s not it really fits with the character of Zeus and how he acts across every myth he’s in.
To the previous repliers: "Zeus gave Persephone to Hades, Hades is completely innocent" isn't actually an accurate or legit version of the original myth at all. While there were many variants of every myth - the vast majority of which are lost to us - every single source we have now states that Hades abducted Persephone. In fact, the Homeric Hymn to Demeter, the earliest source we have of the Persephone & Hades myth, very explicitly says: "[Hades] seized [Persephone] against her will, put her on his golden chariot, And drove away as she wept." But Persephone isn't Zeus's daughter - I'm talking about the game lore, not the actual mythology. Demeter mentioned several times that Persephone's father was a mortal man, a farmer. I believe SGG tweaked the mythology to avoid problematic stuff as much as possible.

The amount of time that it would take to explain that is equal to the amount of time Hades works, and Hades works ALL THE FREAKING TIME.
"You know nothing of tempers if mine is your frame of reference..."
That...that disturbs me if Hades has met people even he thought were tempermental, but then again given his family when they're ready, and he was known for being the most fair of the gods.
Considering Zeus has the temperament of a spoiled child, I imagine his wrath would be on a world-shattering scale compared to Hades.
They even show that during gameplay where certain rooms have two boons and after you pick the first one, the other gets buthurt that they didn't get first pick and try to hamper you in the encounter. And that was when they WERE TRYING TO HELP YOU
This is greek mythology. Hades frame of reference is his own dad. Who literally ate him.
Seriously, that's really concerning that Hades can't begin to offer a scope on how tempermental Zeus can be.
It's not actually myth-accurate at all - the earliest source we have of the Persephone & Hades myth is the Homeric Hymn to Demeter, which very explicitly states:
"[Hades] seized [Persephone] against her will, put her on his golden chariot,
And drove away as she wept." (transl. Gregory Nagy)
So kidnapping Persephone was 100% Hades' fault, and as far as I know all the Graeco-Roman sources we have for the myth state that this is the case. I understand the desire to make the Persephone/Hades "romance" more palatable to modern audiences, but it's completely inaccurate to say it's anything but a whitewashed retelling of the actual myth.

Then they eventually developed their mutual friendship into something romantic, and Zagreus came to be
From what I gathered, Persephone liked Hades long before she got kidnapped.
@@cestalia you forgot ge have a dog
I guess that's as close as a queen he can get down there, I tried to match him up with a more wholesome type but oh well"
I luv that the game has alll these hidden clues and tidbits about the ending and if your replay the game you go " OH SO THATS WHAT HE MEANT!!'

Actually, you as protagonist buy it
OK the idea that nobody in this version of the Persephone myth was outright mailcious is FASCINATING!
Wew, considering when Hera tried to dethrone Zeus, Hades was the one god that refused to do so. He must be a good guy.

And even then the pomegranate is in some versions an action taken by Persephone herself.

To everyone in the comments saying this isn’t how the myth goes, remember that there are literally thousands, possibly tens of thousands of Greek myth variants, with pretty much every single situation that ever happens having dozens of variants that can be wildly different.
Yet another problem caused by Zeus and his. Incredible bardism.
Hades is very blunt because it's his job to be.
They don't call him Stalwart Hades in the myths for nothing.
I thought Hades was the one who kidnapped Persephone (at least that's what I learn in school) but then I remember that there are different variations of their stories so, shows you how much I know lol
all the gods in the game are slightly different than the ones in the original mythos. mostly to make the story happen.
@@Ed-1749 makes sense :)
Zeus never think of the consequences of his actions
I thought he was going to tell him that Zeus was his father (orphism myths) but this is acceptable too
That would've been boring and too Zeusy (if you know, you know)
Zeus, in his brothers own words, is a spoiled little Brat.
Can we all agree that Hades’ standing posture is awful?
Hades stands like a kid that just grew 9 inches that summer and stands like a lumbering bear cub
Just recently had this conversation, very interesting.
Zues is a child
Hmm how should I introduce hades to Persephone ?
Let them meet in small instances ?
No LETS STAGE A KIDNAPPING
Hello guys, just to give a little of mithological history
what happen was that persephone(i dont know if i writed correctly the name)was daughter of demeter, the goddest of the olimpus have the logic to stay virgin, so demeter take his daughter away from the olimpus to prevent the other gods appear, meanwhile in the underworld, hades was affraid about some damages after Tifon, he was worried about the light get in the underworld, so he go to see the damage, while he was investigating, demeter and hes daugther was picking up some flowers and the godest of love and Qupido(again, i dont know if i write it right) use one of theirs arrows and Hades look at demeters daughter and fall in love thanks by the arrow, he take her and go back to the underworld, Demeter was desperate about his daughter desapear and she wants her until she decided to ask to the sun about her and the sun say where his daughter was and what happen, sad she go from greeces and the world farms where infertilized, becuases of demeter where not presents in the olimpus, Zeus send Hermes to the underworld to search demeter's daugther and found her with hades and tell him the message of Zeus to return her to demeter, hades say: "I will return her with hid mother while shes not eat nothing from the underworld"
Hades before retrieving demeters daugther, he offer her seeds of grenade and she eats her, after demeter founds out about she eat something from the underworld, there was no way to bring her back, Hades who was in a good mood, decide by the time of springtime and summer shes have to stay with demeter, but, while the cold season, persepone, turn back to the underworld, lefting demeter in that time depressed and not making their god tasks. And there the stations appear.
"Hey, you, if you read this message, congratulations, you read a lot of text and that i write this in my phone, so anyway, i hope give you some explanation of some of the stuff based in the Hades game so goodbye."
I want a sequel , where zagreus realizes Olympus isnt the paradise he thought
I love how hades stands “🧍♂️”
Classic Zeus move.
I love this game.
That's it. Nothing else to add. This game is amazing. Simple as.
hades and satan get too much hate, in both stories they're just being placed where they don't want to be
0:26 *SWEAR TO ME* !!!
Damn they got the toes out
So you mean to tell this is yet another situation that came about because of zeus!?
Sanest olympian
Hades is actually right, if we're talking about tempers he has 4 siblings that have committed atrocities just for being slighted.
Not from anything already established in other games or movies, but based on the architecture of the past while looking more modern the more you were further away from where Hades resided.
in the myths, hades and Persephone are the most stable relationship in the greek pantheon.
Lol in this game hades is basically the burocrat of the Olympian. The guy basic live with a mountain of paper work
I like that hades is the nicest out of all the Olympian gods but every other media portrays him as this demonic ruler of hell that eats souls for breakfast lunch and dinner.
I would love if Hades got a sequel
GUESS WHAT DAMNIT.
@@nicodeangelo5842 Holy shit!!! Shame it won’t have Zagreus as the protag again :(
@@JustCallMeJohn Hey, at least we get to meet his sister. Who is also on a mission to kill Cronos, so that's fun.
Being a Fan of "LORE OLYMPUS" - Playing Hades was delightful, as the ideas somewhat aligned here and there.
Lore Olympus on webtoon is awesome
I find this funny given I'd fear Hera or Demeter more if you're in their crosshairs. Hera because if Zeus happens to find you sexy, if you're a woman that is. And Demeter because, trees, don't fuck with the trees. Especially if that tree happens to be her favorite druid. Granted Zeg probably already knows about his Aunts mean streaks. But since Zeus is the King of the Gods. He will just as easily fuck you over as well.
Hera's definitely fucked over Zeus's male lovers too, but yeah - worse if you're female because she'll go after any resulting kids, too.
is it me or has Zeus been getting away with it for thousands of years without getting canceled?
Cause those who tried to cancel him got zapped
@@blacknote6945 I’m not defending Zeus’ behavior or treatment of mortals (especially women), but I would be willing to look past some of it if he decided to smite Twitter
@@blacknote6945 Except Hypnos
Because Hypnos getting his job by Hera to prank Zeus ended up him ALMOST getting zapped
Until best Mom Nyx just, Scare the living crap out of Zeus
Its also funny how Nyx and her Childrens barely do anything bad by themself, they just doing their job
Oh nice. Correct me if I’m wrong but that sounds accurate to the original mythology.
So Zeus hooked his brother up by kidnapping him a wife. Is it weird that I think this is the nicest thing he's ever done? I don't even think he did something nice for Heracles or Hercules in the original myths.
Yes it is weird. Of all the shit he could do, he resorts to kidnapping. What the fuck?
hah i like how they spun it so zeus did it in this telling...
It's pretty accurate
I wouln't be suprised if it was a version of the myth at some point.
In fact, the Homeric Hymn to Demeter, the earliest source we have of the Persephone & Hades myth, very explicitly says:
"[Hades] seized [Persephone] against her will, put her on his golden chariot,
And drove away as she wept." (transl. Gregory Nagy)
There's nothing wrong with retelling myths or speculating about possible variants, but it's inaccurate to claim it's anything but retelling or speculation. (Sorry if I sound a bit harsh, there's so many misconceptions about the OG Persephone/Hades myth that I thought I'd set the record straight!)
@@demeterdefender
Clarifying, I'm aware of the myth, so it should've been worded as "it sounds accurate". Regardless, Zeus would have likely had a hand in this given all the kidnappings he's done.
