Was there last night for season pass night. There are footing and construction vehicles where the skyrider used to be a big hole in the middle of the pond and an exit hole near the windseeker.
Do an update
Coaster Studios what if it were to use the mountain like the vortex doea
Coaster Studios the 2 wooden coasters where the when then first opened
Coaster Studios did anybody asked you to worry about the new ride?
It's going to be a wacky worm, I'm calling it
CONFIRMED!!1!1!!
and a SBF Spiner
A dueling Chinese knockoff roller coaster
It’s not even a wacky worm...it’s...just a worm..
JG-77 Id have to disagree that plot of land is way too small for a coaster that massive
Watching this after Yukon Striker...welp
Aimee D same
Watch it be Stinger from Dorney...
Jeff K Stringer is on a used ride website so no it's not going to be Stinger
No Cedar Fair would not do that to Canada's Wonderland. It's one of their largest and most popular parks, and they actually give those parks the main attractions in their budgets.
Canada’s Wonderland is also the Cedar Fair testing ground for new attractions. So the possibility of them getting a hand-me-down is extremely unlikely.
irishmusiclover100 Very true. We saw that first back in 2008 with Behemoth, the prototype 2nd gen. B&M hyper, and then Cedar Fair did Diamondback and Intimidator for 2009-2010. Then you saw in 2012 with Leviathan, B&M's prototype giga coaster, then we see Fury 325 in 2015 after Leviathan's success. And then 2014, with Wonder Mountain's Guardian then seeing a Triotech at Knott's Berry Farm as Voyage to the Iron Reef. Was WindSeeker first at Kings Island or Canada's Wonderland in 2011? Can't remember. But overall, Cedar Fair likes to test good attractions here, and they are good rides for the public and all have been successful. I hope this new ride is the same.
Nooooooo
Is going to be a dive coaster called Yukon striker
There I just saved you some time
With the amount of space that they have my first immediate thought was a Vekoma Bermuda Blitz. I mean- that ride doesn't take that much space and can be made to wind around the lake. But to be fair, they already have a standard sit-down looping coaster (Dragon Fire), so that wouldn't do much diversity-wise.
Leonardo Bruzzone I think they need a good looping coaster. I like Dragon Fire. It's a classic, but it is a much older ride. A Bermuda Blitz model would be more modern and a good Vekoma would be cool.
Cedar Fair obviously doesn't like Vekoma too much, I mean their last new Vekoma was Boomerang at Worlds of Fun and now that's rumored to be on the chopping block.
Who knows? We used to think the same thing about Gerstlauer, now look at Hangtime!
Sad that Cedar Fair doesn't want to work with Intamin anymore.
For all the people out there who haven’t heard the news. The new coaster will be a diver coaster called the Yukon striker. It will be the tallest fastest and longest dive coaster in the world as of 2019
I say the next coaster after Yukon stricker is to tare down flight deck and add a b and m invert
They should really get something like a vekoma Bermuda blitz!!! That would fit in the space, the new vekomas are smooth, and intense, and provide good airtime! And having a lech coaster closer to the US would be great!
The Gaming Yuti agreed
The Gaming Yuti that would definitely be an interesting choice, but a good one nonetheless 👍🏻
The Gaming Yuti That's exactly what I was thinking.
The Gaming Yuti That's a cool idea. They would have a good Vekoma then :)
Not likely, Cedar Fair has never really worked with Vekoma too much, their most recent project was a refurbishment of Invertigo when they moved it to Dorney Park and considering how that went I don't see Cedar Fair working with them again.
Like you said . . . . IF they think outside the box, a Dive Coaster could work with that space.
If they don't go that route, I could see a Eurofighter or an Infinity going there.
Dimas Ikhsandio The Raptor track has terrible capacity, and Canada's Wonderland is the most visited seasonal park in the chain.
i think I ground up topper track RMC woodie Makes More Sense Never Been to this park BTW i know they have exausted B&M recently
Jason Maier Or am Mack Big Dipper!
They just announced its gonna be the worlds tallest, longest and fastest dive coaster.
dude, Vortex looks really impressive
Adam B In my opinion the best Arrow Dynamics suspended coaster left in North America. That and The Bat at Kings Island. Both of them are the same, but I consider Vortex a bit better, since it is a lot faster and feels a lot more intense regardless of the same layouts.
Part of the application that mentioned the new coaster, was for construction in that lake near Vortex which includes 9 pillars (footings) and a tunnel.
They have already dismantled a small portion of Vortex that goes over the lake (It's drained for the winter) and ready to begun construction on the tunnel. Going off where the tunnel could be it does appear they will be using, at least part of, the Skyrider plot.
The wood coasters are iconic and they should be there forever
Ya. That's what they needed. A new colossal Roller coaster! :)
It's a dive coaster that goes underground and winds through vortex and across the entrance of splash works where the stand up coaster used to be
the wooden roller coaster shakes up my body
It's going to be a Gerstlauer Infinity or a Raptor Track. I'm calling it.
Kieran Hayag it's not gonna be a raptor lol
Wrong
Sike
Wild Beast and Minebuster are mad fun! Maybe it's just Nostalgia but I love the old wooden coasters.
RMC wild beast needs to happen in the next 5 years
The lake and Skyrider plot are also part of it from the drone footage I have seen of construction. In fact, a piece of Votex track has temporarily been removed (part of a low turn), either because that track piece needs to be replaced OR what I think is that it will ease construction. Maybee it could be using Vortex for a headchopper.
Definitely looks like Vortex will be used as interaction for this ride :) Plus I've seen more markers near the area of where Timberwolf Falls, Splash Works and White Water Canyon are close by. That heavily wooded area behind SkyRider's plot of land, so that could be part of it too.
That chunk of land was a stand up roller coaster that went upside down. I luckily went on it before it was taken down.
How about a Gerstauer Dive or Eurofighter, or a Mack Lauch, both are fairly compact, and you can even go over the water or end in a splashdown on the lake. Or maybe a Mack Power Splash, just naming some options you didn't mention.
I would love to see some type of new Vekoma coaster. Their updated loopers are fantastic and they could certainly design something to use that space wisely.
I Cant See A Vekoma Coaster Even Close to Making A Spot At A Cedar Fair Park with A Good amount Of Population There.
There a three other Vekoma coasters at Canada's Wonderland, so I don't see the issue with another one being added.
It would be really cool to see one of the new Vekomas come to North America. Something similar to Lech!
I go there regularly and I just want to say this. A tunnel was made underground that goes through the water. Also foundations were being made both beside vortex and where sky rider used to be.
When I find myself watching coaster studios when I am suppose to be in bed. Great channel Taylor!
You could probably fit a wing coaster the size of x flight in that spot. You Cairo’s have the near miss elements with vortex
The design was released today and it looks INSANE.
I do hope they get a wing coaster but only if they remove Flight Deck or Time Warp.
If HangTime will be a success, they could add a gerstlauer euro-fighter. These rides can be compact, intense and smooth
Jaro van Duren Hangtime is a Gerstlauer Infinity coaster, not a Euro-Fighter
The behemoth is honestly the ignored little brother of the leviathan, there’s literally a 5 minute line when even the small rides have a 30 minute line.
I went one time and neither coaster had a wait more than 1 minute. I got on leviathan and was able to ride again without getting off in the front row since no one was in line.
Eric Mez are you sure? Cuz if you go in the end of July or early August, the leviathan has at least a 45 minute line
Don't forget that the mind buster and wildebeast have been there since the park opened.
If I remember correctly, the name "Ziz" was trademarked awhile back. So that would seem to suggest a Wing Coaster, Invert, or perhaps a Dive Coaster. I could see the park going with that name just because it completes the trio of gods (Behemoth = land, Leviathan = sea, Ziz = sky). Some near misses with Vortex would also fit in with the theme.
Being at wonderland last week. They started some sort of construction in that area. It goes underground in that field and then comes out of the lake near the vortex.
I’m thinking intamin or gertslauer launch. It would be compact and fit their line up. A euro fighter could also work
If there is an underwater tunnel, It probably wouldn't go under the pond by vortex because the water is too murky to see through. It would make sense for it to work with the skyrider site as it is rumored to be a waterpark expansion.
HELL YEAH! I new roller coaster for me to watch my siblings ride!
DIVE COASTER CONFIRMED!!!!!!!!! I CANT WAIT!!!😆😆😆😆
The thing is, is that there is also a tunnel thats supposed to go in the lake...
than a divecoaster would make sense
Yes, I believe I heard that somewhere. I think that's going to be a great addition to the layout.
Yea I think you might've heard that from me. Still the river will be rerouted so even if there won't be a tunnel underwater, at least there will be more room for the coaster to utilize.
Actually I heard it from the permits the park filed that just got released. Underwater tunnel and 9 supports in the lake confirmed.
Something like Hangtime would be a great fit in that plot of land, that is if the ride is a success
Next gen launched Vekoma Flyer ala F.L.Y. at Phantasialand. Complete the trio of Behemoth and Leviathan and name it Ziz.
Using the skyrider plot and the plot beside vortex, they could stretch the coaster over towards the behemoth over top of the action zone and make it wind around the behemoth. The coaster would be a wing coaster.
Vertical lift wing, or a small multi launch by intamin would be cool.
A S&S freespin model could fit that plot of land, and it would be a great addition to the park.
I did ride the joker almost 7 time when i was in six flag new England, hell of a fun coaster.
Honestly, i've said it before and i'm saying it now. Even IF a dive coaster would fit in there, there's no way that they would be able to get it to go through the tunnel considering the amount of space they have to work with... Oh and I don't think that they would think of putting in a woodie in that plot because if they do want the next coaster to go through an underwater tunnel, then a woodie isnt the best option as wood and water don't goo that good together. Possibilities imo are:
1) Floorless Coaster -- CF have been converting stand ups to floorless since 2015 and I believe that they would consider getting a ground up floorless design.
2) Flying Coaster -- CF has not built a B&M flying coaster yet. If the name of our new coaster is ZIZ, it would make perfect sense to get a flying coaster. It would have inversions and fit the park perfectly with its scenic looks.
3) T-REX -- CF started installing RMC coasters since 2017. They can definitely fit in a RMC T-Rex coaster here. Capacity wise, it wouldn't be too bad. i am able to see a compact design in that plot of land.
I really think they should get a B&M invert. I feel like that's the best fit for this park. They have Vortex, which I've heard is ok, and they have Flight Deck and Time Warp which are both horrible. They have 3 meh hangers, which means they should get a good one.
It’s called Yukon Striker and Tallest,Longest Dive coaster& it’s in the area of Vortex where Skyrider was and 245 ft tall!
Keep in mind Gerstlauer is on the table. Maybe an Infinity would work
knotts new coaster opened up the option of a gerstlauer infinity dive coaster.
I going to guess it will be a Gerstlauer infinity coaster, you can fit a lot of elements including a vertical drop and inversions in a compact space and considering Cedar Fair is working with them to build Hangtime at Knott's, I think it's a good possibility and above all I think it will be a great addition to the park, seeing as how they don't have a vertical drop coaster nor a 'good' multi-looper and hey it can even be a launched coaster!
If it's a B&M, then they gotta name it Ziz! And that's to go with Behemoth and Leviathan! In my opinion, Ziz should be a dive coaster. And then, no more B&M's, because each B&M would be named to each one of the three monsters. 3 B&M's themed to the three monsters! What do you think?
3 B&M coasters are very good :) Like SeaWorld Orlando with Kraken, Manta, and Mako. If it is a B&M, then they would have 3 pretty good B&M coasters. If it is a dive coaster, it wouldn't be the best ride, but it would be a cool fit at the park, and something that would stand out in that area. They do need some other types of coasters, but a dive coaster wouldn't be a bad fit at Canada's Wonderland. Six Flags Great Adventure has 5 B&Ms, and I don't know how that's possible. Must have had a ton of freakin' money to build Batman the Ride, Nitro, Superman Ultimate Flight, Green Lantern, and Bizarro.
It’s confirmed it’s gonna be the worlds tallest, fastest and longest coaster. Called the Yukon striker.
YAYYYYYY THANKS I LIVE IN CANADA SO THANKS FOR THE INFORMATION
They should get a ‘Mack Big Dipper’, its station is very small, its maintenans room is very small, and because of the 2x4 cars the lay-out can also be very compact and smooth. The only other big dipper is at my homepark: Walibi Holland, and that is made on an even smaller piece of land than this piece of land
I know it's pretty much confirmed at this point it will be a dive coaster, but I really wish more parks would get some unique wing coasters.
Possibly a compact b&m, I'm calling it.
Maybe something like Time Traveler at Silver Dollar city or a Gerstlaurer Infinity. A bermuda blitz would be cool too.
I think a ground-up RMC would be great.
It'll be a Trex. But not just compacted into that plot of land. It'll use some of Skyriders land, not all of it, maybe more towards Timberwolf Falls. Then go into the Forrest where White Water Canyon is and run along side Highway 400, then back. Plus in those permits it mentions an under water tunnel. Therefore I picture it dropping into the tunnel, go under Vortex, then come back out where on Skyriders old spot by Timberwolf.
There is going to be a new section in Canada's Wonderland which will include: Yukon Striker, Soaring Timbers, Lumberjack, and Vortex. I'm guessing that's what the land is going to be used for.
I work here and I’m watching it being built and it’s gonna be big
I agree with his assessment of CA! However, vortex isn't half bad for a suspended coaster.
Maybe a gravity group roller coaster because those are usually pretty compact
I think a Gerstlauer Infinity or Eurofighter coaster could fit pretty nice at the park, some of them can be very compact. Either that or a B&M Dive Coaster. The thing with Dive Coasters though is that they’re pretty short and a are a bit of a one-trick pony. So, it’d be nice if it was actually a GOOD Dive Coaster.
this aged well!
Just heard on the radio today, that its going to be the tallest, fastest, and steepest dive coaster. With a 90 degree drop
I think the vekoma launch coaster would fit great and its compact
I feel like a gerstlauer infinity coaster could fit well here, or also something like lightning rod at Kentucky kingdom if that layout is small enough
A MACK Big Dipper! Would leave a lot of space!
im calling a new style b&m invert with the vest restraints
and imagine how a dive loop into the lake would be sick
How'd you know
I just received confirmation from the construction personnel today that this new giga coaster will in-fact be larger than Leviathan!!! Many footers are in view mostly near minebuster.
I think it'll be an Infinity Coaster, or a Mack multi launch like Capitol Bullet Train. I originally thought maybe an Intamin Accelerator, but seeing the way that Cedar Fair is able to manage their current 2, I would think not.
i really would love a wing or dive coaster, they seem so fun
Apparently it's going to have an underwater tunnel. So that opens up a little more room if you consider that part of it will be above the water.
yes, I neglected to mention that in the video. Definitely opens up for more possibilities.
hey, you can put a good portion of it over water, if you use the water the space you have almost doubles
Luke Caron that is very true.
The video that started the journey
They have two cement structures in the ground. It almost looks like for a stretch it will be in a tunnel
It’s going to go under the water in tunnels. When in the park you can see it. And it looks like it’s going in that area next to Vortex, the area next to Minebuster, and in the area of skyrider. This is what I can make out from being there and seeing what they have.
Awesome! CW is my home park!
This coaster is where the old stand up was
If this is going to have 9 supports in that tiny lake, a Dive coaster is pretty much ruled out. The supports and trains for a dive coaster are huge, so that seems like a less likely option from what we know so far. My hope is for a B&M invert and with this new news, that could be a possibility. I'm very curious to see what coaster will come, especially since this park really needs a good new coaster. As always, great video Taylor!
IT IS A DIVE COASTER!
I think a wing coaster would be fantastic but I know that would be hard to do so I'm good with whateva
i’m thinking that they might put a smaller top thrill dragster
Canada's Wonderland needs to be creative in their design if they want another B&M. They could get a B&M perhaps if they're clever about it's layout like Great Bear at Hershey Park.
Years ago in the Paramount days there was a rumour of a B&M Floorless coaster going in that spot but then plans were obviously scrapped when the park was sold. There is more room than you think in that area and they can definitely fit in a decent sized coaster with a creative layout.
Ryan Pollock I still think a floorless is a possibility but they should put it on the land that time warp and flight deck r on
For me, a B&M invert or wing would be a good fit for the park, especially with the water interaction
I see them adding a skywarp eclipse which is their larger model but i also see an intamin blitz coaster that is a little smaller than maverick
Seeing what they have started building it looks like it’s gonna be a dive coaster
watch it be something like lightning run at KK, or something like hangtime at KBF. they also have the possibility of kannonen, but dorney park might also get that.
I’d love to see something like a Gertslauer infinity in there. I agree completely... they need a solid steel looper... and an infinity or eurofighter style design would fill that void. That plot looks about the perfect size for a major Infinity coaster on the level of Smiler IMO.
That plot of land was a ride called sky rider it was removed a few years ago but it was like leviathan! It was the first epic ride there. It was also bigger then vortex but you would stand up and go on the ride. (Btw the ride was green)
They could get a gerstlauer. It is a great looping coaster, it is compact, and thrilling.
CW is my home park and i’m hoping they’ll get a winged or even a dive coaster for that plot. in the future take out flight deck and time warp for a B&M invert
They should make a roller caps tee like the laviathan and Behemoth except going on it backwards
Good Call on predicting a a dive coaster. It is interesting that you also called it to maybe go over or through Vortex... but who would have guessed that it was going to dive under the pond and come up to take only a short bit of that land and instead intertwine with the waterpark and be the flagship of Frontier Canada?
A eurofighter could fit very well
It'd be cool if they had a dive coaster that went off the waterfall
I wish they had more concerts at Kingswood. I miss the old days of concerts there. Poison/Slaughter, Steve Miller band, David Lee Roth/Cinderella, and others I've seen. Hang out in the park all day chill out and see a great concert at night. Kinda like the old C.N.E. days. Concerts at the ex during August. I grew up in Toronto but damn im glad I don't live there now.
I'm not so sure about the land used. According to what I saw, construction on the Skyrider land started before the land across. Still if it's true, it would be really weird because the land altogether would actually be enough for a large coaster
I went there yesterday and they started construction, I saw it from the Windseeker
I think I also heard that the park wants to create a bypass channel for this ride involving the river. I don’t know specifically
yes, you are correct
Some markers are as far as the pathway leading to action theater and Kidzville. Methinks dive or launch wing
