Tip: Placing shims (folded paper/cardboard)between cabinet/drawer faces and hinge/opener hardware will help align them on the face. Love the content as always. Excited for you!

I hope you cover the water tank pipes! If you hit some kind of road rubbish it will fly everywhere under the van. Also in the rain where many rubbish washes on the roads. Very nice job on 1st-time installation on a van.

First off, I love you guys and your channel, great vids and cooking tips. I live in B.C. Canada have spent much of my 61 years out in the woods hunting and fishing so I have been on many bad gravel and dirt roads so please believe me, You need a skid plate of some kind to protect your grey water tank and fittings from bottoming out and rock damage, as the tires are in line with it and tend to kick up rocks and your gate valve is exposed. PS. you might also want to put some rubber padding between the metal strapping and the tank to avoid tank damage, any way have a great time and safe trip .

Taku, those European hinges are adjustable in I believe 4 to 6 directions...check out the instructions as I believe you can adjust them to eliminate that uneven line of the three overhead cabinet doors. Things are looking up on your project. Lots of technology going into this van !

Quick tip on the grey water tank… put some anti chafing material under the straps to prevent weak spots or holes being worn in it via vibration!

P trap is backwards. Look at the ones in your house. The shower will have the tendency to back up and not drain correctly... Does the water tank have a vent? You will have major issues if you don't have a vent!

    • @TaklyntheWorld
      @TaklyntheWorld  3 роки тому +1

It's not backwards, it's the angle of the camera, you can see it in the next shot.

@@TaklyntheWorld Sorry Taka, P Trap is definitely backwards, tall side is should be under the drain, you have it reversed. Booger is right about the tank as well, definitely needs to be vented or the vacuum cause difficulty filling/draining. Good luck safe travels!

you might want to put some kind of rubber strap around the tank where you have it secured, that way it shouldn't rub a hole in the tank.

Ahhh, you might want to redo the water tank mounting, you would be better off with stainless steel straps with rubber in between the strap and tank to keep from wearing thru, and thrift bolt the straps with stainless bolts , if I remember water weights 9.2 lbs per gal so its going to be sloshing around a lot, can’t wait for the Alaska videos, this is going to be Epic ! 👍🏼.

Coming up to Alaska? Awesome! Just check your route first. As far as I know, Canada is still locked down, not permitting travel through. Unless you plan on taking the ferry from Seattle. Who knows, maybe we'll run into each other.

Jocelyn: We don’t plan on going anywhere where it’s freezing cold temperatures.
Taku: Our first trip is to Alaska. LoL
Btw, you might want to think about protecting your gray water tank with a metal plate on the bottom as there can be lots of rocks on the roads in Alaska.

putting the drain valve where the knob is exposed under the van is risky. Driving along, you could kick up a rock that may either open the drain, or worse break off the handle. You need to enclose the valve in a protective enclosure.
Also consider the same scenario for the plastic tank. If you kick up a sharp object it can slam into the plastic tank and potentially make a crack or hole in the tank wall.

Fantastic build and you two have done a really great job. The only suggestion I might make is to put strips of rubber between the plumbers tape and the gray water tank, at least at the corners. I believe your going to get quite a bit of chaffing on the plastic, especially on rough roads. {plumbers tape is the strapping w/holes} love both channels.
    Thank's Dave

That gray water valve might get taken out by road debris or a rock. Might consider some skidplates under the van. I doubt yer gonna stick to paved roads all the time. Certainly not gonna be an off-roader, but I'm sure you'll be down more than one sketchy dirt road in your travels.
Don't get too bent about not being an expert cabinet maker....yer not. It still looks good and is functional. THAT is what matters.

I just found your channel, YT kicked it to me and I'm pissed that they waited so long !!! I viewed some of the comments and many thoughts are same as mine ! A thin poly tank held up with plumbers strap with no cushion between the tank and strap won't hack it ! My Suburban has thick black poly 40 gallon tank and it has molded in structural bracing and two heavy gauge straps w/ felt ? Then a heavy skid plate covering the bottom and part of the sides and sumps to center with a big drain hole ! Crawl under a few trucks and figure out what's best for you ?.... OK It's 4:00 AM in STL MO and I have to binge watch your damn videos 🤔 PS : I know pocket screws are easy but bad glue joint ! End to face grain, not good, go with hidden dovetail jig or a homemade box joint jig made out of scrap's ✌️💜🎸
