lol my 2002 CR-V's rear spare tire actually saved me from expensive repairs when I was rear ended. It absorbed the damage and left my car virtually unscathed
I don't get why Saturn doesn't just put the foam along the entire length of the bumper. It can't cost much more and will save their customers a lot of money. Jerks.
+Antonio Monetti Well, I guess I didn't word that correctly. I UNDERSTAND why but I still think it's not the right thing to do. When talking about a $25,000 car, passing the cost of the foam to the customer wouldn't cost much I cannot imagine it costs $200, maybe a $20 per foam strip. Remember, they sell entire bumper covers for around $250, so a mere piece of foam the price would be very little.
TheBikemaster94 That's the purpose of crash beams in crashes around 10 mph +. These low-speed crashes should only result in cosmetic damage such as the plastic bumper cover needing to be replaced. The whole purpose of bumpers is to absorb the force and have little to no damage.
My pickup with rear metal bumper was rear ended by a drunk ladies focus. Completely damaged her whole front end including hood. Mine did not have a scratch. We should go back to metal bumpers.
+palmeroinmiami All cars have steel bumpers, undeath the plastic and impact absorbing foam. Trucks to very poorly in 5 mile an hour bumper tests. If you were to back you truck into a pole at 5 miles an hour you certainly would be replacing your bumper. Cars on the other hand often have zero damage due to the design. If her car had steel bumpers exposed like yours she would have caused damage to your truck.
+Nick Kaumans my old s2000 was bumped by an f150. It left $800 in damage because I had to replace the cracked/creased plastic bumper along with the crush tubes behind the plastic bumper. Her car had no problems. That's enough proof for me.
If you look at 5 mile an hour bumper tests from the IIHS all large trucks fail. They test them via several ways all 5 m/hr, into a pole center from reverse, into a pole forward. Running them into the barrier at side angles. Every single one of them resulted in complete bumper replacement as you can't buff or undent creased steel.
The reason your truck did well is because your bumper was strong while her bumper was soft. Had both bumpers been strong, it would have done a whole lot of damage, maybe even structural since they'd only transfer forces instead of absorbing them. Having both vehicles with soft bumpers is what would have lead to lower overall damage.
We owned a CRV 03 for a year now. We like the spare wheel and the crash pole can be preventable now because you can install a back up cámara. I would choose the CRV on spare anytime here in texas with those mofos big trucks that drive tailgate and rear-end lots of drivers. Though the text may have been effective back then i don't see it important today. Not trying to be biased
The subaru of this time was barely an suv, but it us the only one that is considered a crossover. A crossover is basically a hatchback that is lifted and enlargened a but. But every other car is either a small suv, or midsize suv
I don't think NBC understood the difference between crossovers and SUVs, but all they have to do is look at the rear suspension (truck-based SUVs had leaf springs, crossovers didn't). Crossovers were car-based and came normally equipped with 2WD with AWD optional on some models, but not with off-road 4x4 packages that SUVs did (you can't really take a Honda CRV off-road like you can with, say, a Ford Explorer).
0:12 I like how the bumper cars look like a saturn vue and the saturn vue does bad!
LOL! I laughed when they revealed that Saturn cheated.
Get a vue 😂classic
Well, it looks like I’m not buying a Vue
@@rileysmith9843 no, they most likely fixed that on the second gen Vue, so you should be fine.
Where was the damage to the fog lamp on the Saturn VUE?

but I have the Canadian EX-L so it has a hard plastic cover instead of a canvas one
Haha GM's response: CHEAT!

Bad Drivers of Albuquerque i prefer the car crumble to pieces and absorb the energy instead of having a severe neck injury . just my 2c 👳

What suv had the most damage in preper cost
I was surprised to see the 2001 2004 Ford Escape and Mazda Tribute got a accepted rating ( figuring bc their so cheaply made)

In sharp contrast out 2013 CRV had to have the bumper and lift back door replaced when rear ended by a young nurse in her 02 civic at 10 mph

All CUV's based on cars, not SUV's
