Someone please explain to me WHY must gospel music artists make use of secular music artists and their music to create their music?..why can't gospel music artists make use of their creative skills to create their OWN music ONLY???🤔

Because we can. If you really knew gospel music history, you'd know that secular and sacred music has always intertwined. I wish folks would stop with this false piety and just create. You can try and resurrect James Cleveland and Clara Ward all you want if it'll make you feel better but if I wanna throw some Herbie Hancock in my arrangements, imma do it...and ain't nobody gon stop me.

Oh I see.. you're one of those huh?..you're missing the most important thing in the whole world 🌍!..you need the Baptism of the Holy Ghost!..and I ain't talking about no Sunday morning quick bath in the baptismal pool either..once you've have received the Holy Ghost and that with speaking in the Heavenly language, you'll put away the secular music ENTIRELY!!..no disrespect to James Cleveland and whoever else you mentioned, but I didn't come up listening that..my dad (who is deceased now) played for a funk group in the 60's & 70's (prior to the Lord saving him later in the late 70's)..so when I spent time with him on the weekends (prior to him and my getting married), all he played was Parliament/Funkadelic, Earth Wind & Fire, etc..but as I aged and was confronted with the truth of the preaching of gospel of Jesus Christ in the late 80's, the Lord delivered me from the love of ALL SECULAR MUSIC!!..meaning, the Lord COMPLETELY took away the desire to listen to rap, hip/hop, R&B, jazz, and any other genre of music that did not glorify the name of Jesus..after my conversion, the Lord (thru some of the saints at that time back in the 80's), hooked me up with listening to Commissioned, Witness, Hezekiah Walker, John P. Kee, Rev. Milton Brunson & the Thompson Community Singers, and Rev. Timothy Wright, Thomas Whitfield & The Whitfield Company..I still listen to ALL of those groups even now!..and I'm not a BEAST on ANY instrument by NO MEANS..and I have even had the opportunity to play for secular groups professionally down through the years, but I promised the Lord that I would NEVER go back to the life that I once lived in sin!..until this day, the Lord has been keeping me from yielding to unrighteousness by not giving in to the temptation to play or listen to secular music!!..God is a keeper, and when an individual makes up their mind to serve the Lord wholeheartedly, He will uphold that person until the day of the coming of His Son Jesus Christ!!..you need to allow the power of God to change your mind and set you FREE from the love of secular music doc!..HE CAN AND WILL DO IT FOR YOU 💯% FACTS!!..

@@garywatsonjr.2060 You wrote all that and said absolutely nothing. You have no clue what the lord has done for me, which further proves that this you’re displaying is nothing more tha zeal without wisdom. Okay, you had opportunities to play for secular artist, but you chose not to. That doesn’t make you any more or less holy. As a matter of fact…you’re more like a Pharisee. Self righteous…and you know what the scripture says about self righteousness. It’s the equivalent of a used tampon. Is that what you wanna display? Really? All that “spirit” and no knowledge, wisdom, or common sense…and we wonder why folks are leaving the church is droves.

@garywatsonjr.2060 That was a long post to say that you don't have an understanding of how the 'secular' has been used by Biblical authors to relate God's message.
Read Paul's sermon in Acts. How did he appeal to the heathens?!
Some Hymns that you sing have the melody of SECULAR FOLK SONGS.
"Luther was obviously quite interested in empowering common people to participate in the liturgy. When it came to music, he wrote his own tunes based on existing chants and religious tunes, and folk melodies."
I'm actually more concerned with the lack of creativity, harmonic content, depth of songwriting, overplaying by musicians, poor musicianship, that I see today. Borrowing a riff or a familiar collection of notes from a popular work is not something I'm losing to much sleep over. Personally I just skip over what I don't like and keep it moving.
