As a chemist and as an EMT let me tell you what happened. Hair remover like Nair is made of sodium hydroxide or calcium hydroxide. Both are commonly called lye or drain cleaner.
They are strong bases and literally dissolve protein sulfur bonds. This means it can dissolve hair skin eyes everything. What happened?? Well Nair is in a base to somewhat slow down the burn of skin while dissolving hair. The skin also has a thin oil layer to protect it a bit. So what to do.
Stay dry because moisture will increase reactivity. Apply a barrier like a very thin coat of oil (not water based) like Vaseline before using.

I used Nair last night for my armpits. Normally I get them waxed but unfortunately didn't have any available appts so I bought the product thinking it'll due until next time. I literally followed the directions step by step, not to mention when I smelled the stuff as I was putting it on my skin...I was thinking there's no way the smell should be as strong to apply on your skin! Welp it was too late, I let it sit for 1(one) minute and begin to rub it off.... Omggg almost the worse pain ever. Immediate burns and blotched skin...I had to continually rinse and I waited a while to shower to see if the burning would cool. Later on I got a first aid kit, used Aquafor and bandaged my armpits to prevent from worse irritations. I'm so upset, please do not use Nair!!! It's entirely too strong for the skin.

Shower before use. Completely dry off. Use in a cooler environment. Also people have different skin types. So unfortunately I don't see this product working for everyone. If your skin can handle Nair you're lucky. I'm honestly about to go buy some. Just not 💯 on which type to purchase. I'm obviously a man. But all the reviews from men saying they use the women's kind. Which is totally fine. I guess I just gotta try it for myself and see which type will work. Very hopeful I can do d something to use for my back hair. Currently I just use a micro hair trimmer. It doesn't get my back totally smooth. It does take away the bulk and make my confidence way better. No I typically don't care what others think. It's how I think and feel about back hair, that leads me to trim. My personal choice to not have a hairy back. Thanks for the review and your honesty about this product 😊.

It reacts more intense in places you have more body heat actually. It’s not the sweat. It’s the hottest parts of your body.
Edit: also wherever your skin folds or under your pits and groin area, you have to use the weaker on for those areas. It absorbs into the skin instead of sitting on it and burns skin instead of hair.

    • @lucasschoubye8432
      @lucasschoubye8432 6 років тому +5

by the way the difference between 1. 2. and 3. degree burns are how deep and serious the burn is.
      1. degree is the top layer of skin and is painful, red & dry. without blisters
      2. degree is also the lower level of the skin and can also have swelling and blister (probably what you had)
      3. degree is even deeper and could lead to black or charred skin, can be numb because of destroyed nerves.

My first encounter with nair was someone convincing me to try it on my face. I knew nothing about it. Went in with no preparation, I wiped off the residue with a wet cloth, then went out for the night. My face started burning, but I thought it was a minor side effect, so I didn't say anything.
Got home and my face was red, so the person who gave me the nair realized I'd been burned by it, and they helped me washy face off and put an ointment on it.
Turns out I was also allergic to the ointment. My face was covered in one big rash for weeks. It itched so bad, and it made me nasty and crusty.

A suggestion for anyone who may want to find an excellent mechanism for hair removal via shaving.
What I am going to write is based upon about 18 years of experience and to your horror, I used to shave my entire back, MYSELF. And that too without a mirror.
But before that, a tip: NOTHING IS WORTH YOUR PEACE OF MIND, I learned it the hard way.
Okay. Get a small water bucket like the one we use to bath (people who do not have shower facilities) with the large water bucket. I wanted to show the image but it is not possible here.
Anyways, in this small water bucket (about 6 inches in length) put a small amount of Dettol (Any good antibacterial) but make sure that it is small so that you do not burn or damage your skin.
Next but Johnsons Baby Shampoo, the HYPOALLERGENIC one, or any such solution that is HYPOALLERGENIC because it will create great lather without irritating the skin and you could in a subtle manner hit the face of the razor against the water-solution in the bucket and trust me I HAVE EASILY SHAVED OFF VERY LONG HAIR WITHOUT ANY TRIMMER.
Then pour very hot water in the small water bucket to the extent where a lather is formed WITHOUT filling it up. Probably, 2.5 inches.
Then put the razor in it for a few minutes.
And then use for shaving while frequently wetting the blade WITHOUT BEING IN THE TOILET AND PUTTING ALL THE FOAM, WASTING WATER, EXHAUSTING YOURSELF.
Also, use a comfortable chair in front of the mirror in your room, a chair with cushion padding or fix a pillow in it, use a towel by placing it neatly on the chair. Use appropriate lighting.
Also, get another small water bucket and immerse a hand-size towel into a solution of Dettol and WARM WATER NOT HOT. Clean your skin before and after shaving with it.
Also, a Professor of Dermatology told me when I consulted him that use VASELINE PETROLEUM JELLY or buy Rose water, glycerine and CALAMINE lotion and mix the 3 to create a solution and TRUST ME it is a brilliant solution to all the RAZOR BUMPS and irritation. If in your respective countries Calamine lotion has a different name and you get confused, ask the pharmacist for the pink colour lotion for prickly heat. The VASELINE PETROLEUM JELLY is an another option and is NOT to be mixed with the Rose water, glycerine and Calamine lotion and all these are available OVER THE COUNTER but at a pharmacy store.
All the very best and blessed for you ❤️👍.

They never did …. The dermatologist said that any type of creams and waxes can have dangerous side effects ( sometimes not reversible) and skin trauma leading to permanent scars. I’m currently on a treatment and I’m praying that they would go away

I used it after working out and before I showered. I almost had to go to the ER but it hurt so bad I couldn’t even imagine putting clothes on, walking down a flight of stairs, and getting in my car to drive across town. I thought I left it on for too long but this makes more sense.

I put the nair lotion on my legs left it on for 3 minutes and washed it off with a wet cloth and then with water and it didn’t remove very much of my leg hair so I did it again and while I was putting it, it burned and I just left it on and it was burning and I still applied it

Well you're supposed to shower before using nair. You shouldnt do it sweaty. You're supposed to clean the area before any hair removal before doing it to prevent infection. Razor bumps are infected hair follicles

Flo Parker dang..I be having it on for like honestly over 10 mins(which it clearly states on the back of the bottle to NOT do)and I be fine..The only time it ate my skin up (like it literally took my skin off) is when I applied more on top of the application I had just wiped off, cause it didn’t take off as much hair as I wanted it to..

Please Help Me Brother! I applied "No Hair" Men Hair Removal Lotion onto my ball sack this evening at pass 6pm. 5mins later I washed off the hairs on the ball sack, but it was very painful as i washed. Now the time here in South Africa is 23:02 and yet I'm still in severe pain, the ball sack is shrinking and continuously but slowly releasing sweaty type of liquid. Now I am very worried. Please advise me 😢

I’d say take a nice shower first exfoliate the shit out of your skin with a loofah and those guys don’t like using them but do get a loofah they’re like a dollar. get an oil base lotion like just pure coconut oil will be fine. Put it all over the areas you plan on nailing if you’re doing your whole body that’s your whole body. Go chill out for a minute give your self a second to cool down. Again, make sure you’re completely dry. Then do your hair. Follow the instructions remember the timer starts at the very first application. So that means you gotta do sections and then take a break. You gotta do it.

use IPL for longterm hair removal (make sure you get a proper device that does full power). It may not be as fast, but it does not cause irritations like other methods do. stay away from methods that pluck out hair.
